On tap during the 2012 Great Pumpkin Festival held at the Cambridge Brewing Company on 10/27/12. Served in a pint glass. This is a Hefeweizen brewed with fresh sugar pumpkins, cinnamon and allspice.
Pours a hazed gold, topped with a ½ finger of rich bright-white head. This retains well, leaving back a good bit of sticky and robust lacing. The aroma has a fresh, crisp and airy feel in the nose of wheat and ripe pumpkins. Cinnamon, clove and other pumpkin spices all stand out here and nicely compliment the other flavors. That fresh pumpkin aroma really makes this.
The taste is similar, with a fresh and crisp combination of green pumpkin and wheat flavors and a smattering of complimentary spices throughout. This finishes dry and lightly spicy and bitter on the finish. The mouthfeel is lighter to medium bodied, with a sharp and lively feel to the carbonation that really gives this a solidly quenching character.
This was nice, where much like the Pumpkin Witbier they also had on this day; the pumpkin added an extra layer of fresh and flavorful crispness to an already very drinkable beer. I could have drunk several glasses of it on this beautiful fall day.
