Served in a tulip at CBC.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger pink head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a dark crimson red color with some clarity and bubbles coming seen coming up through the glass. Nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: tart, sour, funky, okay, and a little cherry fruitiness.

Taste: Tart cherry, bready malts, sour, funk, and soft oak.

Mouthfeel: Very drinkable, smooth, pucker, low carbonation, and light bodied.

Overall: Very enjoyable Flanders style red from CBC. Aged well and very drinkable.

A-Dark brown with a minimal head. Next to no lacing.

S-It smells quite tart. Sour cherry and wood. Soft sweetness. The aroma really jumps out of my tiny sample cup.

T-Big, long tartness that hangs on my lips. The sour cherry is alive and well. Woody flavor as well. Definitely very vinous; the beer really took on the barrel characteristics. Some caramel maltiness is quickly washed out by the return of more tartness.

M-Long tartness. Has some body to it as well. Booze is just lightly noticed.

O/D-A seriously sour Flanders. I really enjoyed this beer and would love to have a larger pour than my 2 oz. sample.

Poured on-tap at the brewpub and served in a tulip, the beer is a dark, blood-ruby coloring with a thin ring of off-white head. Nose of tart dark cherry, oak, and tannins. Wow. This one smells big. Flavors of tart and dark sweet forward, with cherry in the forefront. Old world fruit and subtle spice show up towards the end of the palate. Smooth bodied. The aftertaste is rich, dark sweetness, with some woody and earthy highlights. Tart, sweet linger in the finish. Big beer.

First had: on tap at CBC

A sour/wild ale that really hit the spot. Opaque brownish-maroon pour, looking more like a porter than anything, with a thin layer of bubbles on top that all but disappeared after a few minutes. Vinous aroma, red wine and cherries, lots of oak, brown sugar and burnt caramel. Taste was sour and musty up front, good dose of red wine, sour cherries, light acetic acid, earthy and oaky mid-palate, finishing with dark caramel malts and a well-defined flavor of bittersweet chocolate. Nice and quite complex overall, medium-full body, tart but not too tart, mouthfeel smooth at times, acidic at others.
