Nooner is our take on the classic German-style pilsner—one of the original session beers. Nooner is easy drinking yet packed with the big flavor of spicy and floral whole-cone hops.

Was looking forward to this one and I'm greatly unimpressed!
Reminds me of Budweiser or Miller Light! (It is a German style pilsner though, as advertised. Just didn't think I'd hate it as much as I do)

Appearance: Didn't even produce a finger of head and it did not lace or retain. The body is a clear brassy colour with ample carbonation.

Smell: I whiff of wet hops and that is it. Warming doesn't help its case either. Far too absent for my liking.

Taste: Starts with some rough straw malt that then struggles against a heavy hit of grassy hops and ending with a dry sandy hit of earthy hops. Not crisp at all.

Mouthfeel: Points get deducted for the complete lack of head. The carbonation only accents the bitter end of the beer which lends to a very rough ride. The aftertaste is grassy hops with a oily film

Drinkability: The dry end really hampers my desire to drink it and then oily film ruins any attempt at pallate cleansing crispness. It's not easy to drink and it's only saving grace is it is light bodied.

Final Thoughts: This is my first Sierra Nevada beer, and to be honest I'm shocked at how well this brewery is regarded, because this was a big disappointment. I guess you can't judge a beer by one offering, but this was not one that I can recomend.

Sierra Nevada's answer to Miller Lite? I was immensely disappointed with this beer, especially since Sierra Nevada usually goes above and beyond my expectations.

This beer is better than Miller Lite, of course, but it doesn't offer much more than a cleaner and crisper version of that classic American pilsner. I bet it will make them some money though.

Would I Buy it Again: No. I did not enjoy this beer. It came across lacking flavor even if it is a traditional style pilsner. It was flat and watery in my mouth and uninspiring (it wasn’t a spoiled bottle either). There is some carbonation but it dies quickly. It a medium bodied pilsner that did not hold up well when drinking. I did let it sit for a while to open up and see if the taste or smell improved, it didn’t. I didn’t finish the bottle.
Head: Short lived, white, bubbly head with no lace.
Appearance: Crystal clear golden yellow with plenty of bubbles looks good but ends up looking flat and dead in the glass after sitting a few minutes
Smell: Very little smell with nothing remarkable hitting my nose.
Taste: Hints of spice are subtle and could be stronger to bring more flavor to the beer. Hops and malt exist. Medium body with a week structure as the beer drinks with a watery feel.
Finish: Little finish to speak of with this one. What flavor exists disappears quickly.

Tastes like it was brewed with an adjunct, cutting the malt. Does not taste at all like any german pilsener I've had - a bit corn-y, without much malt or hop flavor. I love pilsners, but this tastes more like a light american lager/AAL.

From a 12 pack variety $14.99 at Safeway. Poured into a pint glass. Very light color, not much of a smell, light mouthfeel, slightly bitter, not much better than a Budweiser.

It's a nice looking pilsner, with a big foamy white head atop clear golden liquid. That was the peak of the experience however. The smell was grassy and slightly skunky, and the taste had a slight metallic bitterness to it. Victory Prima Pils is a much better pilsner.

Nooner eh? Not the kind I want but hey it's a fun name.

Pouring a perfectly clear golden color with a thin white cap, this beer doesn't inspire much. It is maybe 2 hues darker than I'd have assumed or maybe not. It's pretty average in the looks department as commercial beer goes.

The nose is nearly not there. I could discuss the light faint hints of lemon grass and faint hops but really I'd be talking about it more than you'd end up tasting.

The flavor is hoppy, out of style but what Sierra wanted. Light bread and some slight sugars. The hop bill is coming off to me as Americanized European. It has some of the grass and funk I expect over over seas but it doesn't really finish that way. Honestly it's interesting and kind of boring.

The real failure is if this is a nooner beer, why is it 5.2%? Worse yet it FEELS like more than 5.2% in the weight. This drinks like a normal 6% or so craft beer. I'm not seeing this as a session beer and to be blunt it is miles from one.

I can't lie the name made me expect a light crisp beer with some hops because of the brand. The honest to goodness result is a beer that isn't great and the abv and title don't make any sense. If you see this on draft by all means give it a go, but I'd pass on another 6er.

From 12 oz can into pint glass...

Look: 3-finger head dissipates quickly to nothing. No pancake on top. Little lacing. Not clear. Hazy golden color.
Smell: Smells like nothing. A little malt. Slight citrus.
Taste: Earthy. Slight biscuit / bread. OK, but not much there.
Feel: Not right. Too heavy on the tongue for a Pilsner.
Overall: Not a bad beer but not great either. A Pilsner In Name Only. Disappointing. I won't buy this beer again.
Edit 10/24/2016: Second try. There won't be a third. I do not like it at all.

On tap at the Tap and Growler the other day.

The beer pours a golden amber color with fairly decent head retention and lacing. Unfortunately, this was to be as good as things would get with this beer. On the nose, I got something of light ginger and newspaper aroma (which I've never encountered before), but frankly, there really wasn't much of anything on the nose. The flavor profile was just more of the same, with something of light honey flavor and a trace of underlying bitterness. The beer was quite smooth on the palate, but there was none of that wonderful crisp, slightly hoppy bitter finish you find in the better pils. The flavor profile just kind of peters out at the end, what there is of it. Mehhhhh, somes up my impression of this beer very nicely.

I'm a big fan of Sierra Nevada, and have enjoyed most everything I've had from them over the the years. Some things were better than others (naturally), but this beer was an eye opener for me. I liked the FOAM pils quite a bit when I had it some time ago, and so was hoping for the best with this beer. Maybe the beer had been on tap too long (although it looked fine), but this beer seeemed to be a particularly weak effort, and just a complete dud. Easily the worst beer I've ever had from SN. Very, very disappointed in this one.

I'm a huge

Aftertaste was harsher than expected. There's definitely a pils flavor to it, but the signature Sierra Nevada hops just mess the beer up. Not a bad beer, but a weird mix to my mouth.

Pretty basic pilsner with a little more flavor than your typical light beers. A little bit of a strange aftertaste though. May give it another chance one day but it was nothing to boast about

Aroma- floral old hops, with 2-row pale malt in background
Look- perfect color and clearness, low head per style
Flavor- too heavy on malt and hop flavor, let alone body. Tone it down
Overall- disappointed really; didn't detect any quality malt (rough feel to the malt). Hops flavor too much. Body too thick. Not a repeat beer.

A - Clear gold, as usual for a well-crafted pilsner. Tall, two-inch head of white foam,
decent lacing; Lots of large bubbles - constantly foaming. Settles into a quarter inch
head.

S - Dry grass, a little lemon, and some biscuit-like aroma coming forth, a slight sour
dough bread smell. Certainly not skunky, as many well-made pilsners are. This one is
different.

T - Mildly bitter and dry. Some not-overpowering bitter lemon flavor, and not much of a malty backbone, which leads to a slightly unbalanced flavor for this style, IMHO. A lingering, dry-cracker like flavor. Nice, mildly bitter after-taste. Not at all sweet.

M - Medium body. he carbonation continuously releases the pilsner aroma. A somewhat dry finish, with lingering lager bitterness.

O - Smells better than it tastes. A little too dry for me when it comes to a pilsner lager, but still is somewhat reminiscent of a couple of the lagers I've tasted while in central Germany. Not bad.

Clear, pale yellow with white head. Not much in the aroma...nothing that stands out. Tastes like what one would expect from a Pilsner...goes down easy. Overall this beer is ok, I would drink it again especially on a hot day but would not necessarily seek it out.

Love that more good beer is going into aluminum cans. If it looks like a pilsener, acts like a pilsener and tastes like a pilsener then yep, basically one more decent pilsener in a sea of decent pilseners.

From bottle, Pours a clear golden colour with a large off white head that disapates to a small layer. Aroma citrus, grains, spicey. Taste earthy, biscuit, grass, spicey. Crisp dry finish.

Poured mine into a pilsner like glass.

Pours a golden yellow with little to no foam heading at all, lots of bubbles coming up and a light film of foam around the edge of the glass while drinking.

Strong aroma of hops and other floral notes.

Initial taste is light but a strong hop taste comes into full effect immediately and finishes with a pleasant taste which I assume is the hops they used. Moderate bitter aftertaste to follow.

Smooth, goes down easy, nice to have.

Overall, pretty good, a little strong on the bitter and hop flavor for myself but it's flavorful, and bold, with a smooth and easy to drinkness.

This beer did not impress me. If you like American Lager you will think it's bitter. If you like bitter beer you will think it's weak. Not sweet but bitter. I drank a six pack and it got better as I went along. This beer needs to cut some bitterness to go mainstream or add some bitterness for that crowd.

A:foamy 3 finger head, decent retention, good clarity, pale gold in color, quite effervescent
S:pale grain, prominent yet delicate (not assertive but up front) clean hop aroma, subtle juicy citrus
T:very grainy up front and a touch of sweetness from said grain (not much), very understated clean bitterness, lacks the spiciness of a czech pilsner (I know this is not a czech pilsner it's just a comparative observation)
M:a bit dry, but maybe that's just the clean bitterness talking
O: A very good, not great, american pilsner, can't beat the availability of this beer, though it's not really what I look for in a pilsner, I would buy it again and it is worth your time

Parting thought: seems to be a bit too watery at points

This brew pours a cloudy straw color with a small white head, some of which lasts as a collar and there is a tiny amount of lacing and good carbonation.

The smell is grassy, grainy and straw like. There is some spice, possibly grains of paradise and lemon zest.

The taste is little over bitter for a Pilsner. There is some cracker like taste in there as a slight gritty, grainy taste however the overly bitter finish takes away from the clean, crisp taste a Pils should have. On the plus side the finish is crisp, clean and dry.

Yellow color, decent head, looks typical. Nose is slight mineral. Flavor is a boring pilsner. Probably easy enough to session but not interesting enough for me to care to.

Light gold color and nearly clear. Good starting head for a bar pour. Several layers of ring lace as the brew recedes in the glass.

Nearly no smell. Surprising considering it comes from Sierra.

The flavor is very biting with lots of bittering hop. Long lasting aftertaste. This seems to be off style for me. It's missing the Pilsner malt flavor up front and the hop is too dominating. The body and carbonation, though, are spot on.

Pours a bright blond hue with a nice frothy head. I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this already.

Light and crisp. Some hop aroma.

Sweet and dry upfront. Spicy.

Mixed feelings about the finish. Bitter but not in a good way.

Not bad. Could be better in mouthfeel.
