Cloudy light orange. Frothy white head. A slightly skunky but mainly faint citrusy smell. Very spritzy taste with some citrus. It's refreshing and good, but is more Pilsner than IPA. I would get it again.

Appearance - Pours clear and golden in color with an off-white, near two finger head. Good retention results in a thin but consistent layer of suds across the surface. Small spots of lace coats the glass and sticks with nice cling.

Smell - Moderate hop aroma consisting of citrus and pine with lesser grassy notes. Light hints of bread.

Taste - Follows the nose. Citrus and pine hop bitterness along with hints of grass. Bready sweetness hits mid-taste to provide a bit of balance. Finish leaves a faint but lingering bittersweet orange flavor.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium in body with fair carbonation. Smooth, quaffable quality.

Overall - They were going for yesteryear's West Coast IPA, and boy did they achieve it! A clean, classic example of what IPA's used to be. Completely drinkable, but quickly forgettable. Flavor-wise, there simply isn't enough here to compete with today's more complex and flavorful IPA's.

I can't really say there is anything exceptional about this Golden IPA, however it is extremely well balanced and very drinkable. Beautiful golden color and pours with a thick almond head that lingers. Lemongrass, grapefruit across the tounge with a slight finish of that Cascade Hops bitterness and pine. If you're going to sit down to drink a few on a warm afternoon...this is your beer.

A: Pours a golden yellow color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves some pretty good lacing

S: Citrus and pine up front along with a solid malt backbone. Nice and balanced while remaining hop-forward

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with light citrus and pine along with the bready maltiness that balances nicely. Some grassiness comes in next, followed by a light bitterness. Finishes with lingering bitterness and pine

M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice and easy drinking IPA with great balance. Almost leaning more towards an APA, but it is what it is (or called). A nice part of the 4-way IPA pack, but most likely nothing that will make its own release

Packaged 3/6/15

SRM around 3, to the darker side. Slight haze. Proper, white, foamy, slightly fluffy collar with good retention. Low carbonation.

No detectable alcohol. Strong fruity, citrus smell with some lesser hints of pine and resin. Doesn't smell super-complex, but does smell strong.

No alcohol in taste. Strong floral, green, and fruity taste. Aggressive bitter punch up front, but isn't persistent. All hops here, no significant malt contributions save for smoothing things out slightly.

Fairly low astringency, soft-bodied if not a little drying. Low carbonation with medium-length finish.

Pretty basic IPA, though has a distinctive 'hop-kick' to it — kind of in-line with most Sierra Nevada offerings. Isn't the easiest drinking IPA, but quite decent non-the-less.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy yellow gold with a medium meringue white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is soapy malts with fruit and piney peppery hops.

The flavor is light creamy biscuit malt with tangy fruit and a grassy bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, an OK IPA, not my mix of flavors.

This is a showcase for Cascade hops, but too much been there done that. Otherwise, it has the typical strong appearance and mouthfeel that I expect from a Sierra Nevada IPA. More bitter than most Cascade centric IPAs.

Deep gold to light copper in color with a quarter inch beige head made up of tightly packed tiny bubbles. Nice lacing on my glass. The aroma is a piney hop and light cereal grains. The flavor is as advertised in the nose. A well balanced blend of cereal grains and a touch of piny hops. The mouth is very light and smooth.

Appearance: Poured a dark golden color (imagine that!) with a nice billowy white head, faded after a few minutes, slight lacing.
Smell: Aromas are pretty light, with just a tinge of citrus and biscuit.
Taste: I get some light grapefruit, lemon, and some light biscuity flavors, not much more going on.
Mouthfeel: light and crisp, good carbonation bite.
Overall: Not overly impressed, very drinkable and goes down pretty easily, just so-so.

Poured a clear golden body with a one finger fluffy white head. A very nice looking ale, almost like a Belgian Golden. Scents of sulphur, tropical fruit, with notes of mango and light pineapple, grassy hops, light citrus and slight grainy malt and light sweet malt and lightly spicy hops. Overall Impression of aroma is of a very nice IPA that is nicely complex and well balanced, bright and fruity. Quite nice. Flavor begins hoppy with notes of tropical fruit, mango and pineapple mostly and some light pine. Middle opens up further tropical fruit flavors, grassy hops and light pine resin. Finish is bitter with notes of pine resin, tropical fruit and light citrus peel with some floral and spicy hops in the mix. Finish is bitter with notes of tropical fruit, grassy hops and pine resin. Aftertaste is pine resin, grassy hops and grainy malt. Overall impression of flavor is of a nice IPA, true to form and nice flavor profile. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with light carbonation and a resinous mouthfeel. Overall impression is of a nice IPA, almost like an IPA mixed with a lager. A decent IPA with a good tropical flavor, a good example of the style. A nice aroma compliments a good flavor, but it lacks a bit. Still rather nice and worth trying.
