Got this one from the summer seasonal pack. Poured into a mug/stein. Dark almost amber in color with good head retention. Floral scents are very similar to an IPL. Hop fans will love this one. The mouthfeel is very smooth, but not over-the-top, can't really taste the 7.0 ABV, which is a testament to the balance of this beer. Another good offering by SN.

PKGD 05/05/17 Opened on 5/25/17 12 oz. Bottle.

A totally clear gold color. A very relaxed look with a bubbly white foam tower, comes down fast and leaves plenty of covering and lace.

The nose has a fine array of sweet and fruity hops, very floral. Mild citrus tones underneath with an ever so slight, buttery malt smell.

Starts out crisp and light bodied with a big, bitter kick from the hops. The German malty effect kick in pretty fast, giving it a long, slick, buttery feel and flavor. Prrhaps a bit too long and slick with a bit of a cloying feel going down. It dries out pretty fast with bitter-herbal and earthy hop tones. Grapefruit and herbs is a nice way to explain the ending hop flavor.

Love the idea of a hoppy German-like lager. Balance seems about right, big alpha and bitter hop with a serious malty golden lager edge. I dig what it's trying to do, I feel the hops become a bit too leafy and bitter and the malt goes just a bit too far with it's slick body. 7% abv is pretty hefty for a German lager. Even if it does have a big hop signature. The heat also maximizes the bitter hop.

Bottling date of/04/13/17

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and pure golden in color with an off-white finger width head. Fair retention leads to a thin, broken layer of surface suds and a fair ring around the edges. Lacing consists of some broken sheeting, but mostly spotting.

Smell - Bright and citrusy, with lesser notes of floral hoppiness. Hints of spice. Light caramel and bready undertone.

Taste - The predominant flavors are certainly hoppy, but not excessively so. Floral character with faint notes of mild lemon citrus and pink grapefruit. Firm, spicy bite. Malty backbone delivers a nice, complimentary caramel sweetness with a hint of grainy bread. Lingering citrus sweetness and pith bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Near medium in body with crisp carbonation.

Overall - I'm assuming this is the same beer as the '15 Beer Camp sixer. If so, I must have been in a funny mood the day I first reviewed it. Not that I gave it a bad review, but this is a fantastic hopped-up lager. Floral, citrusy hops with the crisp, easy drinking body of a lager. It's one of the better IPL's I've had, frankly speaking.

Appearance: Pours a clean amber, beautiful with off-white suds and a ghostly trail of lace.

Aroma: Malty up front, with some bright hops pulling through. Nice on the balance side.

Taste: Bright hops here, and sturdy malts play back and forth. This one doesn’t seem very hopped, maintaining the lighter lager base with a skillful and adeptly subtle hopping to maintain the operative word here, balance. Outstanding!

I bought this one in a mixed 12pck from Meijer's. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent is non-descript maybe some sweetness. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's ok not the best from Sierra....but decent.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear amber color with a medium sized off-white colored head. The aroma is full of malt with some hops in the background. The taste is flipped from the aroma with hops leading the way. An excellent beer.

Bronzy gold beer with a slightly off-white head that seems fairly durable. Nice floral hops aroma, plus some malt, that is a bit understated considering the great blend of malt and hops that follow. This might be classed as a lager, but I believe many people would take it for an IPA. Resinous and floral hops interact over a firm malt backbone, as in a good IPA, and the slightly oily mouthfeel is also reminiscent of an IPA. The flavor has a development and balanced complexity that a beer needs to be great, rather than just good. I did not have this beer in its original "beer camp" form but if it was more or less the same as this beer, reintroducing it was a good decision.

Bottled 2 May 16 according to the bottle, and I drank it on 12 June.

L: Clear gold with an enormous pillowy head. Near perfect retention and lacing.

S: Pine, orange zest, grass, a little bit of unripe pineapple, a lot of crisp biscuit malt.

T: Very grassy and piney, with some pithy orange and orange zest. Hints of pineapple throughout. A large biscuit malt backbone. Crisp and mostly clean, slightly metallic, semi-dry, with some lingering grass and pine notes.

F: Medium-ish, medium carbonation, smooth and crisp.

O: A solid hoppy lager.

Pours a crystal clear light golden yellow with a bubbly finger of white foam.

Citrusy and piney hop aroma with a sweet but light toasted biscuit malty character.

Citrus, pine, grass, biscuits, and toasted malt.

Light-bodied, high carbonation, crisp, clean.

Overall, a very crisp, clean and refreshing lager with a nice citrusy hop addition.

This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy yet somewhat transparent color. A nice semi - thick three finger white foamy head sustained for at least a good minute. Ringy lacing graces around the glass. The smell had a good sweetly spiced bitter hoppiness running about it. The taste pretty much copied the smell leading into a slight sweet malty to sweet citrusy and somewhat spicy aftertaste. The finish is mainly dry. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. It’s nicely carbonated and sticks nicely to its style. Overall, I say this was a pretty good sessionable IPL. There’s nothing wrong with this beer.

This hoppy Lager is almost too tart for me, but the bold citric flavor is enjoyable on a hot summer day. A nice, tasty refresher.
