Pours a nice ruby color with dark copper hues. Has a 1/2 finger of tan head that left nice lacing down the glass. Lots of visible carbonation.

Smells like toasted and sweet malts with some chocolate in the background. I also picked up some stone fruits like figs or dates on the nose.

The taste was similar to the nose with nicely roasted malts and some of those stone fruits. What was added into the flavor was a nice splash of maple. Not quite as sweet as maple syrup this was a nice addition to the flavor.

The mouth feel was medium with a fairly dry finish.

This was a very tasty Scotch ale with a touch of maple. I liked the touch of maple in this one as I felt it fit in nicely with the style. There also was just a touch of alcohol warming in here as well. Makes for a nice winter beer.

The beer poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head.
Sweet caramel aroma. No maple.
Caramel taste, a little dark fruit. Where's the maple?
Medium-bodied. Very sweet, a little too sweet.

I bought a mixed winter pack from cosco. This beer poured a clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent is faint sweet malt. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was some sweet malt presence. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's ok was expecting better.

Pours a ruddy amber-brown color with three fingers of lasting tan head that leave heavy rings of lacing.

Dry yeast and malt aroma with a nice layer of maple behind.

Malt-forward taste -- not quite nutty, not quite caramel, something in between -- again with a clear but subtle maple behind. The malt takes on a dark, roasty characteristic in the aftertaste, coupled with a hint of vanilla, too.

Heavier mouthfeel than I was expecting, but still quite drinkable. The carbonation level is just about perfect, just barely cutting through but giving it a certain rough edge.

I was expecting something sickly sweet, and am pleasantly surprised at the depth and roastiness of the malt in here.

This beer pours a dark amber brown almost caramel like in color. The head is one finger high and tan with very little retention and lacing.

The smell is robust and malty. Flavors or caramel, maple, toasted bread and sweet dark fruits are all apparent.

Taste is the same, but less pronounced than the smell. There is also a moderately bitter finish which seems a bit out of place for how malty this beer is.

Feel is medium bodied with not much carbonation. Very smooth though.

Overall a pretty good beer. I'm not very well versed at all when it comes to scotch ales, but I enjoyed this more than any of the others I've tried. The maple is a great addition. It is not so heavy that it drowns out the rest of the flavors and also sweet but no where near cloying.

L - amber with a very nice clarity with a light tan head - just a little of the head sticks around
S - Sweet malt, maple, caramel
T - The taste follows the nose with sweet, rich malt, caramel, toffee, and maple flavor throughout however the maple is light
F - Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation - smooth and silky
O - A very solid scotch ale - nice sweet, rich malt flavor with a nice addition of maple flavor - however I wish the maple was more present

Light caramel color, smooth, a bit of sweetness, malty. Almost like a brown ale with less hop and a touch of maple syrup.

12oz bottle, dated 11/10/16. Pours transparent amber with a larger sized tan head. Some lacing. Smells of roasted/bready malt, caramel, peat, earthy hops, and some maple syrup. The taste follows exactly with roasted/bready malt, caramel, peat, hops, and some syrup; malty and straightforward. Light bitterness, dryness, and sweetness. Average body and above average combination. Overall, this is a well-rounded Scotch Ale which stays true to the style, but could use a little more smell/taste intensity.
