Bottle from the Mills River brewery bottle shop.

Goblet. Big, thick, lush white head. Opaque golden brew.

Smells of Woody, laquer-ish barrel, acidic white wine, light caramel, soft rind, maybe orange?

Taste is soft & mellow honey, lime & apple. A touch less tart then the base, with a rounder, fuller texture & very slight Cheerio-like oxidation. Same big carbonation with a heavier boozy feel despite the low ABV.

Not enough positive added to this. I'd rather drink the original.

A: Moderately light prickly pear, coupled with moderately strong white wine, light saltiness and moderately light sourness.

A: Bright golden color, totally clear, with a moderate uniform white head that has decent retention.

T: Moderate prickly pear fruit upfront, coupled with moderate white wine, light saltiness, moderately light sourness and faint oak, with a dry finish.

M: Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Quite tasty; the beer retains its cactus aroma and flavor and the white white add an interesting dimension, though almost overpowers the delicate cactus aroma and flavor.

Had this at the Torpedo Room on December 16, 2016.

Poured looking similar to Otra Vez. Otra Vez base version is one of the least inspired gose beers I've ever had. And why do they release it in the winter time anyways? Aroma imparted a significant improvement. There is a white wine provenance about it, including the oak (french?).

Taste, same thing goes, you get a lot more white wine and oak notes thankfully overriding whatever that is in the base (agave?). While the salinity is still not as high as I would like it or conventional style guidelines would seem to desire, it is still enjoyable.

I wish somehow they could can this version instead. It is significantly better, the white wine notes and oak really stand tall.
