Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into an IPA glass.

Appearance: Pours bright golden orange. Lots of rising bubbles and a big three finger white head which settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A ripe, juicy, and oily hop driven aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and wheat. Upfront citrus hop scent of orange peel, lemon zest, grapefruit, and mango with some pineapple. Earthy and floral hops with a scent of pine and grass. Malt hints of wheat, grains, and cracker along with yeast. Slight hints of banana and candied sugar. A very nice aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a ripe, juicy, and oily hop forward taste with notes of citrus fruit, pine, and wheat. Juicy upfront presence of citrus hops with notes of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon zest, and mango along with pineapple. Floral and earthy hops with notes of pine resin and grass. Malt notes of wheat, grains, and cracker with yeast. Light undertones of candied sugar and banana. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, oily, and drying.

Overall: A very solid twist on an IPA. Good ripe and tropical hop presence with some nice wheat notes underneath.

Bottled on 12/15/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a yellowish golden with a subtle haze, but still has solid clarity; fluffy white head that fades leaving great retention and solid lacing. The aromas have a subtle tropical vibe. Banana and pineapple along with some ripe grapefruit. Cracker malts are there without being overwhelming. The flavors seem to follow the nose. More banana along with some hints of grapefruit. Some orange in the mix. Lots of fresh grass. Mild hints of pine along with a very mild spiciness. Pretty earthy along with a balance of tropical and citrus notes. Solid hop bitterness. The malts seem to take a backseat. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid IPA. It's very clean, crisp, sharp and refreshing. The craftsmanship is on point. It's slightly unique compared to alot of Sierra Nevada's IPAs. I like it.

Bottled on date of 12/20/16

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and golden yellow in color with a white, near finger width head. Fair retention before dissipating to a thin, broken layer of suds and a thin ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell - Citrus, pine, spice and subtle tropical nuances along with a wheaty malt undertone.

Taste - Follows the nose. Hops that touch on moderate notes of orange and grapefruit along with a good dose of pine and lesser spice bite. Very faint passionfruit. Fair wheat undertone that shows up near the finish. Mild pith, pine and wheaty flavor can be found lingering in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Soft texture upfront with a crisp, semi-dry finish.

Overall - If I recall correctly, SN came out with a Golden IPA that wasn't all that great two years ago, and they've done the same again. This isn't terrible, it's just terribly average. Think their Pale with a slight boost in hops and a mild wheaty undertone and vuala!

This beer pours a hazy bright yellow gold color with a one finger bright white head. Retention is solid and there are hanging webs of lacing left all over the glass.

Smell is lemon zest, orange, resinous pine and bready malt. Not overwhelming, but certainly not subdued either.

Taste is the same, but more flavorful. Some mild bitterness on the finish.

Feel is too light for my liking and smooth. Carbonation is moderate and the finish is dry.

Overall a very solid IPA. It doesn't seem like much of a spring beer and I definitely preferred last year's Tropical IPA, but this isn't bad.
