Notes / Commercial Description:
Porter is a testament to roasted malts which give it a rich, bittersweet and roasted coffee-like flavor that's a perfect complement to a variety of foods.

Before Sierra Nevada was a reality, our nights were spent perfecting homebrews and dreaming of starting a brewery. Back then, one of our favorites was a porter made with homemade malt roasted in our kitchen. Decades later, we still love the rich, bittersweet and roasted malt flavors of that original brew.

Poured into a custom grip shaped glass: color is brown, lighter edges, head is light tan, head lingers with a thin top and lacing on the glass.

Smell is light toasted malt, hint of chocolate.

Taste is similar to the aroma: hint of chocolate, light toast, maybe some yeast and earthy hops.

Mouthfeel is moderate: carbonation is moderate, lingering flavor is lightly sweet with feint dryness.

Overall a very good, simple porter; the description eludes to homebrew porters which with its simplicity and flavor I can vouch that some of my own have had similar outcomes.

Poured to a tasting glass.

A: The body is dark but it's not very opaque as some coppery hues are visible when turned against the light. The ahead is beige having awesome retention. It's 1 finger thick.
S: The aroma is simply of perfectly roasted malts and caramel malts. Nothing else.
T: The taste starts off the roastiness of the caramel malts, providing a more black-ish hint to the flavour and then turning a bit more sweet due to the sweetness of the caramel malts. In the end, some clovey sweetness and no bitterness at all. Actually, and sadly, the end of this flavour is a bit empty.
M: Body is low. Carbonation is low. Bitterness is non-existent. Sweetness is a bit high. Alcohol is strangely noticeable.
O: Drinkable but not a very good beer.

Solid. Quality. Goes well with most foods. But for just drinking, I like a sharper, more distinctive porter.

Cola black color, medium carbonation. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Taste mimics the aroma with roasted malt and bitter cocoa most prominent. Just a touch of bitterness rounds it off with a really clean finish. An excellent version of a porter which went well with food or just by itself

I'm sorry to say that the bottle I tried was probably way to cold to judge. It got much better as it warmed up. So be warmed Porter is a British style and should be drunk at a cellared temperature.

Read the description! This is a testament to roasted malts and the feeling comes through, this is indeed a homage to those roasted malts they have made in their kitchen back in the early days, so fresh and tasty. I'm not a fan of porters but wow this is great! Sierra is really an outstanding brewery that can make liquid gold out of any style of beer! Great because of the Sierra artistry.

Pour is dark cherry red with a dense, pillow head. Smell reminds me of leather, or a new car. Right off the bat you are hit with fabulous carbonation that allows the drink to flow into every crevice. The taste lives up, lightly roasted, yet crisper than any porter you've had before. Love it!

Not quite opaque dark brown beer (when held to a light). Dope lacing, multiple layers with splashes of design. Clean roasty type of smell, either chocolate or mints, maybe some coffee bean with an apparent hint of marshmallow or cream. Taste is definitely more than just fair, a little watery but aside from that a hearty sip with a little bit of a peppery finish. Could've used some more boozing up, but I guess this is what makes a porter, a porter. Solid representation by Sierra Nevada.

It poured a dark brown and yields a black body. A nice white foamy half inch head appeared and lasted for about a good minute. Some spotty lacing appeared here and there along the sides of the glass. The smell was some chocolate, hints of cofee and a bit of hops. The taste had the chocolate come back with the coffee and hops as some toffee comes out slightly. It left a dry aftertaste. The palate was about medium with a slight creaminess in my mouth. I would say it was mostly drinkable. Overall, this is a good brew that I would come back to. Everything is balanced very well.
