Fuller's Brewery in London has been producing some of the UK's finest ales since the mid-19th century. Together we created a new recipe for an Atlantic-Style Vintage Ale---a robust beer, perfect for aging, and brewed with plums for a touch of rich fruit flavor that both mimics and enhances the natural yeast-driven aromas.

Bottle from 2017 Beer Camp case. Pours out a clear, medium amber with small foamy head. Head fades like a pub draft, small skin remains. Malty aroma, toffee, tobacco. Taste comes in sweet, but not over the top, nice caramel malt flavors with a bit of bite from the hops. Plums are faintly detectable. Smooth and easy to drink.

12oz bottled 4/13/17 (20 months ago) poured into a becher glass at fridge temp 8.5% ABV. The beer pours a bright orange amber, but has quite a bit of sediment even though it's been refrigerated it's entire life. The head is light khaki in color and fizzles away leaving a few bubbles and no lacing. The aroma is fruity with apple, pear and plum. The taste is fruit forward as well with more plum & pear flavors paired with a mild English malt base. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with less than medium carbonation and a semi dry finish. There is very little bitterness and just a touch of alcohol in the taste. It's very well attenuated and not really sweet despite low bitterness. Overall, very good. I didn't drink this one fresh, so I have no frame of reference. It's enjoyable now, although i should have been more gentle with the pour.

A year out and there's still a lot of life on this. Creamy cap of cottony foam atop a glowing Manila colored beverage. Raisiny plummy aroma with some floral notes. As it opens it displays more character. Jammy, slightly bitter with honeyed sweetness.

>1 year on it.

Kind of a straw color, some sediment, low head

Mild fruitiness, caramel malt

Dark and sweet fruits, yeastiness, floral notes

Medium carbonation, goes down easy

Pleasant enough, not noteworthy, by my palate.

Finally drank my bottle of this; I've been aging it along with the Bruery collab (hopefully age improves that one?). Taste is faded plum, slightly malty and faintly floral with some alcohol. Decent but nothing special.

Poured into a snifter. A slightly hazy amber-orange color with a thick and long-lasting white head. The plums were front and center on the aroma. A pleasant and bright fruity presence that was met with nice floral notes and a slightly sweet malty presence. The plums also led the charge on the palate, but were restrained and again met with a hefty dose of caramel, toffee, and bread. There was a subtle floral presence, presumably from the English yeast. Smooth, nearly full-bodied, and soft on the finish. I'm glad that I sat on this one for a year.

12oz bottle. Served in a snifter glass. Pours a darker golden brown body, one finger white head, short retention, bit of lacing. Smell is raisins, dark fruit, light caramel, a bit of toffee. More raisins. Flavour is heavy on the raisins, fairly heavy on the dark fruit. Hefty caramel, a bit of toffee, a bit earthy with a touch of mineral and fruity esters. Mouthfeel is medium lighter bodied, fairly decent carbonation. Slightly prickly, a bit of bitter earth and touch of floral notes.

Look: Dark amber with thin head that disappears quickly and not too lacy. Doesn't look bad, but it just doesn't look unique or special.

Smell: The hops are not what gets me first, rather I smell some caramel malt and not much else. I can't blame the beer too much because I've had this sitting around in the fridge for over half a year.

Taste: Misleadingly bright and fruity for such a malty nose. Peach, apricot, plum, basically stone fruit rounded out by a little bit of orange at the end. Very sweet, tasty.

Feel: Boozy and bitter but also rather light on the palate, which is a bit surprising since I'd expect a strong ale like this to linger.

Overall: I'm not totally sure what they were trying to go for here, but it lands somewhere between an IPA and a porter except they could have done better on both fronts. It's not a bad beer and the collaboration with Sierra Nevada still puts it above average for craft, but it's not a meticulously crafted masterpiece like Sierra Nevada's regulars. It goes great with food that has some brightness to it and the ABV is great for getting a buzz going at the end of a long week but this beer rightfully belongs in an experimental sampler pack rather than any brewery's main rotation.

Pours hazy, dark and amber with an eternal, frothy champagne head. The head eventually falls from two inches to a thin layer, leaving patchy lace on a Pretentious Beer Glass Company dimpled mug.

Soap initially dominates the aroma, followed by the sweet smell of Smarties candy. Warmth draws out apricots and apples.

The flavor is sweet, just short of cloying. The flavor is very similar to mixed fruit juice. Nuts and herbal qualities come out with warmth. Possibly lavendar. There is a mild acidity and a long, almost acrid finish. Extended warmth helps the flavor and adds plums.

A medium body with smooth hard texture. Carbonation is modest with medium-sized bubbles. Alcohol is present, just short of expectations. Metallic touches are unwelcome.

As a generic beer, this is easily drinkable, however, I expect much more from an English Strong Ale. I enjoyed it just before dinner and see nothing worth aging, however, there is no risk of damaging it.

Nice looking body. Amber orange and a bit hazy with a one and a half finger head that leaves a broken ring around the glass with wet lacing.
The aroma is malty and bready with some caramel sweetness. Plum skin and yeast follow with a hint of floral hops.
Doughy, sweet malts mingle with ripe plums and floral hops, which is a nice combonation. A nip of alcohol and some spice from the yeast.
Not as smooth as a traditional English Strong Ale but close enough. Tough to rate this aspect of the beer because Stingo is fresh in my mind. Dry finish with a bite of alcohol.
