Bavaria's Ayinger are legends in the brewing industry, known for their love and perfection of classic German beer styles. Playing off their background, we came together to create this dark twist on the Bavarian-style wheat beer. This beer features layers of wheat malt flavor and was handled through traditional open fermenters to highlight Ayinger's famous Hefeweizen yeast character.

Bottle from case. Initial whiff alerted me that I was in for something good. Murky brown with huge, pillowy head. Aroma us roast malts, nuts and chocolate. This style is way under represented in the US. Taste completes the whole package, mildly sweet and nutty, subdued bitterness. A real joy.

3/21/18....pours medium dark brown. Still, no foam, no bubbles. Bready banana nose. Smooth chewy syrupy taste. Sweet and wheaty. Vanilla notes too. Classic style though a tad high on the sweets.

This pours a cloudy/hazy muddled cafe with an impressive cap of foam that collapses into a creamy crown. This is a malt showcase, with just a wonderful bouquet with lots of banana and bubble gummy esters. Smooth and rich, with some jammy plums lingering behind the luscious malt and estery front. I don't often try this style out because it so rarely is this good.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip
L: Clear dark mahogany brown pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head. Solid rim of lacing.
S: Caramel malts... dark sugars and toffee.
T/F: Toasted sweet malts and caramel. Brown sugar and toffee... mild hopping for bitterness/balance. Bread and mild yeast. A little earthy.. mild spice. Zesty carbonation. Light bodied... the finish is sweet grains.
O: A solid Dunkel. Not a style I'm terribly into but tasty and drinkable. Well represented and a solid collaboration.

This was definitely one of the best beers in the Beer Camp Around the World pack. Unlike some of the other beers in the box, they didn't try to reinvent the bottle. Classic German beer style with a classic German brewery. Highly drinkable with great notes of caramel, yeast, and traditional hops. Smelled right, tasted right, and didn't get too sweet. Well done SN.
