Pours surprisingly thick and sits cola brown in the glass with a thin cap of head. Not much barrel or coconut notes in the nose. Good amount of chocolate in the taste and the coconut adds a subtle sweetness even if not much coconut flavor per se. Feels silky and smooth with just the right amount of carbonation. Overall a solid barrel aged adjunct stout but needs some more barrel and coconut character to make it world class.

In my snifter the beer was pitch black with no head.
Aroma is booze and chocolate, with a hint of coconut.
Taste follows the nose. Bourbon, dark and sweet chocolate. There is some coconut that I think tastes toasty/
This is a big beer. I think I'll share it with my wife.

Pours very dark black with rich tan head and very sticky lacing. Nose is full bourbon, coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and sugar. The taste starts with a bite of booziness followed but some smooth bourbon flavors followed by some softer coconut, vanilla, and burnt sugar. This one has a heavier feel upfront but cools down after you drink it, so not to hard to consume. I am a little underwhelmed on this one, its like the flavors are semi-muted, wish it was a fuller flavor on the coconut and vanilla. As a whole its a decent beer but I was hoping for so much more.

2018 Vintage

Appearance: Dark brown bordering on Black The beer has has a medium-sized dark brown head which faded to a ring.

Smell: Moderate Bourbon notes followed by brown sugar notes and some mild coffee notes.

Taste: The Bourbon and brown sugar notes from the nose come through in the taste profile. I also get some fairly noticeable oak notes, and roasted malts. The finish is fairly dry. It may be the power of suggestion but i pick up the faintest coconut and dark chocolate notes.

Mouth-feel: Medium to full bodied with a modest level of carbonation appropriate tor the style.

Overall: A good bal-aged Imperial Stout. As it warmed I was able to pick up the cacao addition but never really got a distinct coconut presence. Nice bal-aging notes though.

A very dark black with a decent head and a nice distinctive lacing. Aroma of subtle bourbon coconut, vanilla, and chocolate hints. Tasted very boozy with a mix of bourbon, coconut and vanilla. A light stout with a smooth feel but a big kick. A decent beer but slightly off balance with the ingredients.

In a word, wonderful! Coconut flavor is actually on the subtle side, but blends well with the chocolate and imperial stout and barrel flavors. Nice balance here, and aging for a year seems to have paid off with a rather mellow and very delicious product. Alcohol is 11.9% ABV, but you could easily drink a half bottle and not know it, until you tried to stand up!

Not a lot of aroma, but from the first taste, sensed a world-class product. Hope they make this again someday. Just in case they don't, I bought the last 3 bottles available anywhere (sorry!).
