Distinguished, Yet Devilishly Hoppy

Our brewers selected the finest, most flavorful hops, pushed them beyond their limits and forged them into this all-new triple IPA. This reimagined Hopitmum is our hoppiest beer yet, providing a blend of tropical and citrus hop aroma that delivers a refined yet aggressive character.

2017 Edition Hoptimum Triple IPA brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., with an ABV of 9.60% This American Double/ Imperial IPA pours out a deep golden amber color with a nice white head. The head of this brew sticks around. There is also a nice amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness, however there is a smooth side to this brew. You also pick up on some rich earthly grains and malts in the smell. There is also a mild sweetness in the smell as well. Now for the taste it is bold with flavors. You pick up a real nice amount of hops, then the earthy tones. The hops are what makes this brew stand out. There is a real nice hoppy smoothness about this brew. This is a well put together brew, for being an IPA , I'm really digging this one. The body of 2017 Edition Hoptimum Triple IPA is a medium to heavy , but not to heavy. I really like how smooth this brew goes down, it is really hard to pick up on the 9.60% ABV in this IPA. This IPA has a nice super clean finish to it. The mouth feel is Hoppy, Bold, Rich, Clean and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving 2017 Edition Hoptimum Triple IPA a 4.50 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again givin the chance to. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Did a super nice job with this brew. If you a not a fan of hops this is not for you, however if you are I highly recommend this IPA.

Purchased sixer in Calabasas. CA - Bottled on May 23, 2023. ABV is 11% this time around. (It's hard work to keep the ABV info accurate with so many beers and they change the profile every few months.) Like prior releases this version looks, smells and tastes pretty fantastic. I had a big meal with my bottle, so the alcohol didn't knock me over. You don't want to pound 2 or 3 of these unless your schedule for the next several hours is nothing but sleep :-) This is a very nice triple IPA.

12oz bottled 4/18/17 poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 9.6% ABV. The beer is a bright golden copper color with off white head. Lacing is strong. The aroma is citrus, grapefruit and peach. The taste is caramel malt first quickly transitioning to citrus, pine and fruit salad. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and finishes dry. There is a hint of alcohol burn on the finish but nothing compared to previous years. Overall, very good. In the past, I would intentionally let these sit in the fridge for a couple months to take the edge off. This is good right off the shelf and $12/6pk makes it a great value.

7 month old bottle.

Tropical fruits taste, herbal and flowery aromas, body's heavier than usual but ok for a 9,6% beer.

Really good and lands a punch.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip. This is a review of the 2017 edition.

A: Pours a golden amber color with a white head, lots of lacing, beer is clear.

A: Lots of aroma, pine, resin, needles, grapefruit peel along with a hint of guava and mango, not getting any malt on this one but lots of hops, very nice.

T: Like the nose, big hits of freshly cut pine needles, resin, there's also some grapefruit peel, hit of moderate bitterness that lingers in the middle, finish has more pine and grapefruit with a touch of guava adding a slight tropical note, finish is dry, alcohol is well hidden, very nice.

M: Medium bodied with a big dry finish, leaves a citrus dryness in the mouth.

O: This is a major improvement over previous editions, Sierra Nevada really brought the hops on this, it's also amazingly smooth for such a big beer, good amount of bitterness that doesn't overwhelm the beer's other notes, definitely going to be drinking this while it's available.
