Like a 2x4, that girl in your bio class that always wears yoga paints, and your morning #2, Sierra Nevada is oh so solid. Unlike the Dodgers, they never let Raul down. And there ain’t nothin’ special going on here; no gimmicks, no reverse osmosis double dry hopped action... just a clean, solid American Blonde Ale that won’t let you down!

Try it, my peeps.

This is the session beer you've been looking for...well the one I've been looking for. BFD is as advertised, really tasty, crushable - low abv. I'm a long time Sierra Nevada Pale Ale drinker - BFD not quite as bold, but the best session beer I've had yet! Definitely worth picking up a 20oz can - hope they distribute this one in sixers.

A: Pale yellow with a large white head.

S: Light hoppy aroma with citrus and a little bit of pine resin. Smells a lot like SNPA.

T: The flavor is not that os SNPA, while there is the grapefruit and pine hop flavor I associate with SNPA, there is a distinct citrus note, with perhaps a little extra tartness, and perhaps a little more fruity.

M: Medium light in body, crisp with high carbonation.

O: Overall similar to their other offering, but interesting and distinct enough to stand on it's own. I feel like this is exactly the type of beer I shouldn't be reviewing.. but fuck it.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow, with a small foamy head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like grassy hops, biscuity malt, grapefruit, and pine.

This is very simple, but it 100% accomplishes what it set out to do. It's super drinkable, while remaining interesting enough. It's moderately hoppy, with a fresh grassy bitterness, and a lightly sweet bready malt backbone.

This is very light bodied, but super crisp and drinkable, with a typical level of carbonation.

This is very nice- I could drink quite a lot of it.

19.2 ounce can - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a softened yellow body, a bit hazy, with a well-frothed, white head that steadily evaporates.

Smell: Smooth, delicate aroma of lemon-leaning citrus, tropical fruit and mint leaf with the malts yielding no more than faint touches of grain and crustless loaf bread.

Taste: A maltiness hinting of white bread, wet grains with a paper thin veneer of treacle sweetness. Very minute amount of husky astringency bleeds into the hoppiness and its tastes of soothed lemon, muskmelon, and calamint. Restrained bitterness though it's sufficient enough to balance.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Moderate carbonation, cracklingly crisp.

Overall: They aimed for very simple, very easy drinking and they executed it quite nicely.

A bright gold color. Two finger head with a good amount of lace.
Floral, grassy aroma. Sweet.
Taste follows the nose. Some lemon shows up also.
Light-bodied and quite refreshing.

Golden hues with a fingernail of eggshell white on top. The aroma is of faint lemon and light malt. I’m tasting a suggestion of lemon hops and light malt. The mouth is light and delicate.

T: Mildly sweet fruit, biscuit and cracker start the flavors with citrus notes and some mild tartness on the drying finish seasoned by earthy, woody hops

F: light, refreshing, thirst quenching with medium carbonation

O: flavorful, very drinkable beer is what you grab when you just want a beer

Blah blah blah
All this talk about being obligated to leave a valid and thoughtful review.

Geeesh. . .

Not the best most well crafted brew but it is a solid 4 across the board. The 19.2 oz can is a valid and thoughtful package.

Large 19.2 oz can in SC.
Pale, slightly hazy golden body with a decent white head.
The aroma is much more hoppy and fruity (citrus) than the flavor. although hops do linger on in the aftertaste. Mildly bitter.
Light body with medium carbonation.

We don't have to forget that this is a blond ale. It's not going to have the complexity of an imperial stout or it's not going to be as popular as an IPA. But to be a blond ale it's very tasty. Sweet bitterness, citrus/floral profile. Light body like any blond ale and way more flavorfull than what I was expecting. Worth a try!

DATE: September 29, 2018... OCCASION: #4 OSU at #10 PSU in a white-out game--need something to calm the nerves and not weigh me down with alcohol... GLASSWARE: Hobgoblin pint... from a 19.2 oz. tall can, pours a hazy, sallow golden body teeming with bubbles that develops a sudsy, bubbly off-white head... first breath yields lemon, grapefruit, flowers, mild spiciness, tea leaves, and hints of resin... the aroma suggests a beer that has something to offer in a drinkable weight... crushable as advertised, its body is smooth, fervent in its hops-forward promise and lively at the teeth.... sweet, hoppy, with enough resin to evoke an IPA... lemon, lilac, lemon grass, cracker, and tea make for a varied experience... this one packs enough flavor into what tends to be a rinser of a style...

1 pint 3.2 fl. Oz. Can. Ale.

I poured (most) of this can in a fat dimpled Bavarian mug.

It's clear, golden and bubbly. Cryatal white, rocky and sticky foam cap is tall. Recedes slow.

The aroma is subtle, but it has earthy grains, dried wheat, herbs and spices, herbaceous style old world hops, buttery and herbal golden malted barley. An ale with many lager like aroma's.

A light, bright, sessionable golden ale thing, reminds me very much of a light golden lager without the bready, honey, sour funk of lager malts and yeast. This is much more "cleeean" easy-breasy but strangely full of flavor. Crispy, light with an interesting balance of herbalized, earthy hops and grainy, style golden malts. An ALE through and through....with some descent complexity and high ended drinkability. This tastes much like I would imagine an American pub ale would be like in, oh, maybe 1950. Corn, wheat, herbs, grains, clean and effective overall approach. Meant to keep you coming back for "one more pint" at the end of a 14 hour work day.

Canned 02/27/18

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and bright yellow in color with a white, finger width head. Great retention, resulting in a thick, consistent layer of suds and

Smell - Bready with lesser hay, slight spice and faint citrus and floral hop character.

Taste - Follows the nose. Light flavor of bread and mildly tart lemon fruitiness with faint, floral hop character. Finishes much the same, as lemon takes the lead and hints of bread and floral notes become the secondary characteristics.

Mouthfeel - Light-bodied with moderate, tingly carbonation. Silky smooth drinker with a clean, velvety finish.

Overall - A light but good flavored blonde with a fantastic body. This could be a big-time option for summer 2018.

Sierra Nevada "BFD"
19.2 FL. OZ. can, "PKGD 022718C11:22" and sampled on 052518
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Look: Slightly hazy light straw gold body beneath a full head of creamy white foam. The head retention and lacing are both white good.
Smell: Fresh and inviting. Floral, spicy, herbal and lightly citrusy hops mix with gently sweet and grainy malt.
Taste: A bit of lemon appears alongside the floral, spicy, and mild herbal and grassy hops. It reminds me of some of the kellerbiers that I've enjoyed in Germany - but amped up! The grainy malt balances the hops, and is in turn balanced by the hops in both flavor and through a median bitterness. For a beer of 4.8% abv it packs a lot of flavor.
Feel: Medium-light in body and gently crisp-then-smooth across the palate with a fine-bubbled, moderate to medium, seemingly natural carbonation.
Overall: Really quite nice. Very "crushable" but also very satisfying. Superb! And at a great price.
