Brewed with a double-barreled blast of Magnum hops and lupulin dust.

Hops are the name of the game with a Double IPA, but we knew we had to take it one step further. With Hop Bullet, we’re using a new technique, hitting the beer with a double-barreled blast of Magnum hops and lupulin dust—pure, concentrated hop flavor—directly into the tank to emphasize the intense pine and citrus flavors of classic West Coast hops.

You won't confuse this with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which was one of the first craft brews that I recall. Hop Bullet has a lot of hops and a lot of punch. Better than I expected from what is now a relatively established big brewery in CA & NC.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. bottled 12/21/17, so 4 months old.

faintly hazy golden yellow body with some fine pale particulates.good size creamy foamy head leaving very good lacing. quite a bit of carbonation.

muted aromas. mildly floral and faintly hoppy.

flavors are subdued as well, but quite pleasant. tingly on the tongue, light hop bite, good malty wash. more slammable than the 8.0abv would advise.

mouth is above medium, faintly bitter on the finish.

all in all, a pretty enjoyable DIPA. quite nicely balanced at 4 months in the bottle.

L - Dark orange, moderate haze, two fingers of head

S - subdued grapefruit and sweet malts. Small hint of garlic/onion

T - More subtle citrus, but sweet caramel and tangerine are also here. Hop bite at the end.

F - A bit light, but still good. Mild alcohol.

O - Not bad. Not as bitter or full as it should be.

Packing 8% alcohol into big hops - but it only tastes like a high 5 or low 6 % beer.

Sierra is always the picture of stability and this beer doesn't disappoint. I'd call it more of a 1 and 1/2 IPA than a double, but it has that over hopped magnum taste. A bitter finish but not overdone in any way.

Look - classic copper color with slight head and a good film
Smell - piney with a caramel malt backbone
Taste - really piney with that caramel maltiness
Feel - medium body with a medium light creamy carb
Overall - nothing special and I probably won’t get it again

Golden color with very little lacing. Fairly smooth for a beer of its alcohol content. Starts off with a strong taste of papaya and gradually more hints of grapefruit
