from Sierra variety pack. 12oz can packaged late 9/17.
Smell: its all about citrusy hop aromas of orange juice and grapefruit. light bread, and cereal.
Look: pours deep gold/yellow almost OJ looking with a nice thick half inch of head which quickly dissipates to a third of that but then remains. the beer is hazy/murky with lots of white chunky sediment that eventually settles at the bottom. at that point it clears somewhat.
Taste: light malt sweetness well balanced by what seems like minimal but its just enough bitterness. citrus flavors are smooth and easy on the palate
Feel: medium body, creamy texture, subdued astringency and moderate carbonation. the finish is super smooth with a pleasant hoppy bitteness that finally comes through claiming its IPA credentials
Overall: obviously I really like this beer. I could drink it all night. to some people it might be too bland but I think they struck a great balance with its drinkability. only complaint is some people might be turned off by the flaky sediment at the bottom (flaked oats?, yeast, lactose?)

This tastes very much like the Accumulation IPA that New Belgium released a couple years ago. Came in this year's snow pack. Not impressed, honestly.

L: My main question is why it is even hazy? I see no floating sediment, so it has clearly been filtered. So what's the haze from? An extremely even opacity pervades the translucent straw-yellow liquid and doesn't seem to diminish with warming. Soapy white head and lacing is nice, but sparse.

S: This has that particular rosewater aroma (which I often find in strains of cannabis sativa) which a couple beers led me to believe was from Amarillo hops, yet this beer has no such hops, only magnum, crystal, and citra. If you don't know what rosewater is, it's a common ingredient in middle eastern desserts. I can't think of any common food item that smells like it. It's similar to grapefruit. In order: lemon, rosewater, grapefruit, pine, honeydew and guava.

T: Taste profile follows the smell, but beginning with honeydew, then lemon, grapefruit, rosewater, apricot, pine, and guava. Really plain though. The pine and grapefruit really overpower everything else.

F: Not completely awful, but annoyingly soapy. Very dry.

O: Meh. Simple and unexceptional.

From the 2017 Snowpack, bottle is dated 9/26/17. This beer pours a hazy summer yellow with a great head and beautiful lacing. The aroma is a subtle combination of fresh pine needles, lemongrass, grapefruit and citrus. The taste follows the smell with a pleasant balance of fresh pine needles, lemongrass, grapefruit and citrus. A smooth medium bodied beer with just the right amount of carbonation and a very pleasant dry finish. Another solid offering from Sierra Nevada, I would not be surprised if this makes it into their regular rotation as it is a very well crafted beer with a complex character.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle that was packaged 10/26/17. Sampled on December 1, 2017.

It has a yellow-amber tone under a big, white foamy head and a lot of pulpy juice like characters.

The aroma starts off with a vibrant grapefruit and tropical fruit sensation but there is also a sour dough bread and roasted barley malt presence.

The body is light to medium.

The tropical fruit and grapefruit take center stage in the taste as they do in the aroma but there is a highly drinkable and likable soft but moderate bitterness finishing things off. Being from New England I think they did a nice job emulating the style.

i really hate that i am seeing this beer for the first time and its dated late september, thats lame, but the beer is great still, and i think its cool of these guys to make something like this, honoring or at least acknowledging the trend with the name, but making it their own with the beer, a hazy beer but only slightly, heady and frothy and delicate looking, not murky, milky, thick or gross, this is pretty beer, and its lively and pulling me in. the aroma is cool, bicuity malts, something european about the hops, grass and lime and lemongrass and tea and canned pineapple and tangerine, its obviously dry hopped, but this is more dialed in and professional than all the kids out there making new school cloudy beer, this is better objectively speaking, no doubt at all. the flavor is nice too, and to make a cleaning product analogy, this is lemon pledge and some new fangled dish soap you might find at anthropology or some mall chain thats trying to fool you into thinking they are artisans, you know the type, "nordic blue spruce and spun sugar with tahitian vanilla" for 4 dollars an ounce or some crap. this is the dry hopped version of that, but i cant look away. there is a fresh orange juice quality, a ton of bitterness to finish, west coast oiliness that i often miss in beers that look like this, and a glorious hop complexion that tastes insanely forward and fresh for being two months old. good on sierra nevada for making this one, glad i got a bottle. this is what they do best. young guns take note...

In my small Smutty glass the beer is a hazy straw color. There is a small white head with some delicate lace.
Definitely fruit forward. Citrus and tropical fruit, some sweet malt.
Grapefruit and tropical fruit taste. Bready.
Lighter-bodied, nice bitter finish

Light golden hued with an inch of frothy bright white. The body is massively hazy and I can see lots of floaties. The aroma is of tropical fruit including pear, passion fruit, and i'm also getting some pine. I taste melon, peach, and a touch of pine. The mouth is light, delicate, and smooth.

Bottled date 10/27/17

Appearance - Pours hazy and straw yellow in color with an off-white, two-finger width head. Fair retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds and a decent ring around the edge of the glass. Lacing mostly consists of broken webbing and small spotting.

Smell - Bright citrus aroma of lemon and tangerine, slight yeast and bread, mild pine undertone.

Taste - Follows the nose. Mellow lemon with a touch of orange peel. Generic bready sweetness. Fair spice bite. Pine sits beneath but emerges mid-taste, then grows to be a prominent force in the finish, helping to leave a bit of dank and pithy bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low carbonation. Easy drinker, but falls a bit flat in the finish.

Overall - Is this SN's first stab at a hazy IPA? In any event, it's so-so. It wouldn't deter me from buying the variety 12 pack again, but it's not gonna drive me to buy it again either.

Poured hazy gold with mild head and lacing. Smelled of citrus, hops, and floral. The taste follows the nose, mild hops, fresh citrus, some sweet floral. Overall a very mild IPA, it was tasty but nothing out of the norm.

Appearance: Cloudy golden with lots of sediment. Kinda unusual for a SN, but it’s the taste that really counts, right? Off-white suds and little to no lace.

Aroma: All kinds of fruity — stone fruit, citrus, tropical. Very pleasing.

Taste: Crisp and, again, really fruity hoppy. Smooth body and easy non-bitter finish. Another solid fruit-forward IPA from Sierra Nevada, and despite appearances, a solid and enjoyable American IPA.

Pours an opaque vibrant yellow, but some of the "haze" comes from very chunky bits in the brew; yeast or hop resins, I cannot tell. Head production is mighty, 2 1/2 fingers of snow white beauty from a turbulent pour. Retention and lacing are very nice.

At exactly two months of age, the hop notes are still potent. There's a bit of the strong pine character one expects from any Sierra Nevada IPA, accompanied by notes of mango and papaya alongside a pungent dank character. Wildflower honey and honey cracker malt.

On the palate, I would never have guessed this brew is two months old. Waves of juicy and fruity hop tones wash over the palate, yielding hints of mango, melon, berries, pineapple, grapefruit pith and peel, and lighter notes of oregano, basil, and resinous herb. No hint of staleness whatsoever, which is really a testament to the quality of a brew made with modern hop varietals.

Lots of activity and moderate sting, but very smooth on the palate. Carbonated fruit juice comes to mind.

This is much better than I expected, given the age - but I shouldn't be surprised, given Sierra Nevada's track record. I wish I could have tried this fresh, but I'm very glad I have a couple more to enjoy.

12oz bottle into a snifter. Pours a hazy whitish yellow color with some floaties. The nose is bright citrus (grapefruit most notably with some lemon notes as well. Smells very fresh and has a mouthwatering effect. The taste is crisp and refreshing for an IPA with a nice but not overwhelming bitterness in the finish. Really solid IPA from Sierra Nevada, I hope this is an annual release.

Pours a hazed straw with one finger of cream colored head. Impressive head retention & lacing

S: Grassy, not much else

T: Grassy, a little tangerine, & slight bready sweetness up front. More tangerine, a little mango & grassyness as this warms. Finishes with dryness, mango & tangerine

MF: Light body, slight carbonation

Easy to drink, was wanting a little more nose & body from this

One of the better brews I have had from SN. Hazy yellow in color with a decent head and great lacing. Aroma is nice with fruit, mostly unripe. Taste has the slight roughness around the edges, as is the case with most of the breweries beers, but accomplishes what it tried to do. Good pineapple flavors and an overall decent beer. Kudos!!
