Pours a translucent ruddy brown with a finger of thick khaki foam which persists.

Smells of toffee sweetness and spices. Nutmeg seems obvious to me, and spicy ginger. Absolutely has a Christmas cookie thing going on.

Tastes like a Christmas cookie, too. The ginger really pops, becoming a bit overbearing, actually. It's not my favorite flavor, let alone in a beer. Covers whatever hops might be present. No alcohol flavor at 6%.

A bit sticky on the mouthfeel. Subdued carbonation. Little lacing, but the head lasts all the way down.

Looks lovely and smells delicious, but a bit too much ginger for my tastes.

Personally I don't like spiced ales, and would never select one for purchase. This came in the Snowpack this year. Nice blue color for the label. Into a pint glass it goes:

L: Pours with a fair bit of dense foamy head that leaves thick bands of lacing for such a thin beer. Body is just a shade lighter than cola, appearing brown until held to a light source, at which point it becomes evident that it is dark red and bubbling actively.

S: Smells more like a wheat bun than a beer. The particular smell of barley is easy to detect in this. Clove, nutmeg and charred oak are also prominent. No trace of alcohol. Just a hint of peach if you look for it. The tail end of this gets really interesting: a hint of spicy ginger, a drawn-out smear of molasses, a touch of coffee, and finally a tickle of licorice root.

T: Bread Bread Bread. For real, it tastes like a gingerbread man. I do not regret this being included in this mixed pack (which I really only bought for the Coffee Stout). Notes are as follows: toasty wheat buns, roast, a hint of caramelized sugar, peach, molasses, clove, coffee, ginger, lemon, and licorice root.

F: Really inappropriately thin for the style, I think. And yet, the first example of the style that has actually appealed to me. That said, I'm fairly certain that I would really like this beer if it were a bit richer. As it is, it does have an extremely clean feel. Unnecessary, but appreciable.

O: A spiced ale I actually like. Very malty, very comforting, but quite thin. Still doesn't come close to the coffee stout.

Pours a dark mahogany with a tan head.

Smells of dark roasted malt with notes of whole grain bread, caramel, coffee, ginger, and nutmeg.

A nice malt bomb without being cloying, roasted whole grain bread, sugar cookie, with a nice bitter balance from the spice, nutmeg, clove, and ginger. This beer comes together beautifully.

Amber colored brew with a creamy tan head that leaves a sheet of lacing behind. There is some caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon and a hint of apples in the nose. The taste is like mulled cider with some sweet apple flavors with nutmeg and cinnamon. There is some bready yeast flavors as well. It ends with a flowery hop bitterness. This is a really tasty beer.

Pours deep ruby red with a lightly khaki head and fades quickly to a ring around the glass with bits longer in the
Nose nutmeg, spice, ginger.

Palate follows. Nutmeg, spice, cinnamon, ginger, caramel malts. Flavors are all nicely layered together. Subtle glimpses of each. Nicely done.

Flavors are nicely balanced.

Nice, wintery ale. The nose is very subtle, but inviting. Hint of caramel, warmth, and some spice. The taste is a bit fuller w/ clove and much of the same as what’s on the tongue. Very good offering.

Look- opaque dark brown turning to mahogany around the edges; 2 finger creamy, tan head

Aroma- Ginger, nutmeg, vanilla, brown sugar, toasted bread

Taste- follows the nose very closely; a lot going on but the spices are very subtle- rather than being the focus, they're more of a compliment to toasty and rich malt

Feel- medium bodied, creamy

Overall- great winter warmer reminiscent of a ginger bread cookie. Complex but subtle spice make this malt-forward beer a real pleasure to drink.

LOOKS: A dark red to chestnut brown, quite clear, lots of carb rising, and a 2 finger tan cap that lasts and leaves some sweet lacing behind.
AROMA: Herbal, bready, medicinal, lotion, candle wax, and I do get the "holiday" spice thing in a generic way.
TASTE: Traditional spice taste, too much cinnamon, I think. Better than the smell, anyway. Plenty of malt. Cola like.
FEEL: Average carbonation, medium-ish, body, fairly dry.
OVERALL: Plenty of much better spiced brews out there.

Had this on October 28, 2017, the parents came into town to do some housework around the birthday. Picked this up on October 27, 2017 from Winco in North Reno, 12 pack variety. Pours a brown color, looks like a cross between Celebration and Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale. Kind of drinks like the latter too. Good lighter color tan head, 3/5" deep. Aroma was Christmas like, nutmeg, cinnamon, earthen maltiness.

Taste, now we're into the winter warmer category, more of the Christmas spice rack in there. Brown malt feels, not heavy, fits the warming bill. Very mild toffee and caramel notes, almost no bitterness or heavy hopping to it, Sierra Nevada showed some restraint. Its a dark bready beer in a bottle, gingerbread even for the seasonal feels. Well done stuff.

Pours cola color with a decent head and sticky lacing. Nose is spice, nuts, cinnamon and malt. The taste is good but mild, I was hoping for a more in your face beer but this was playing on the safe side. Overall a good beer but nothing out of the ordinary.

L: Dark brown, reddish hue when light shines through. 2 finger crackling head.

S: Roasted malt, nutmeg, clove, ginger.

T: Similar to the nose, pretty heavy on the holiday spices, especially nutmeg and ginger. Some malty sweetness as well. Ends dry and clean.

O: Overall, a pretty good winter warmer. It's a ginger snap in a bottle.

If nothing else stands out, this is a beautiful looking beer. A Dark caramel coloration, exceptional carbonation and a creamy light tan head. Not an overly spiced scent or taste, plus a smooth feel that still manages to bring a bit of warmth to your belly.

This would be a great after dinner brew..... to share during the holidays next to a warm fire (or space heater). Malty sweet with a hint of pumpkin-like spice flavor. It grows on you with each sip.
