Very Good
Hazy Little Thing IPAHazy Little Thing IPA
Notes: We're constantly brewing new IPAs looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks - unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw - to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character. To some, making an unfiltered hop bomb may seem crazy, but to us, its a hazy little thing called IPA.

BITTERING HOPS: Magnum
FINISHING HOPS: Citra, Comet, Simcoe, El Dorado, Mosaic
MALTS: Two-row Pale, Munich, Oats, Wheat

Picked up a 6-pack (packaged on 2-14) poured into a tulip glass.

On the nose: instant burst of fresh hop aroma- orange, pineapple, lemon ring, bringing a plethora of tropical fruit notes

Look: Hazy> yes. Nice one finger frothy head with pretty good lacing. Beautiful golden orange color.
Taste: Similar to nose, alpha acids bringing flavors of pineapple, orange juice, other citrus-lemon, melon, and slight bits of pine. Nice malt body as well. My guess for hops: Citra, Simcoe, maybe el dorado? The harmony of those 3 hops blends well, and a very nice flora bouquet that isn’t drawn out with overloads of hops and there is little to no bitterness on the end.
Mouthfeel: smooth, slightly full, no lingering hop bitterness or overwhelming taste buds. THis is likely due to the higher protein malt build for this beer (wheat, or oats). This was certainty a winner for this beer- very typical for NE style Hazy IPAs. Perfection. Makes this beer particularly drinkable (and at 6.7%) tolaerable. Bravo!

Overall: Excellent style beer for IPA lovers and those who are new. This type of beer encapsulates the essence of a tride and true Hazy IPA (not west coast, not full east coast) but a blend of both coast styles. This style bends the lever for creativity for brewers all over, and opens the door for others to brew beers that can have their own take on the style. Once again, thanks SN.

Cloudy golden body under an average size white head with good lacing. Aroma full of tropical and citrus fruits that are a pleasure to the senses. The fruits stay on the tip of the tongue while bittering hops hit the back of the palate. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel.

Underwhelming, overly fruit forward and not hoppy enough for my taste. It has a thin mouthfeel and a short finish. In short it's a rather droll fruit bomb devoid of nuance or complexity. That being said it's a smooth sipper and easy to drink, perhaps this is intended to be a gateway IPA but even in that regard Voodoo Ranger, Mad Manatee, Funky Buddha Hop Gun, and Jai Lai all do it far better while retaining the level of nuance and complexity one expects from a craft brew. Sierra Nevada's original Pale Ale is far superior to this, at least for my palate, but don't let that dissuade you from giving it a try. I will revisit again in time to see if my palate is merely having a bad day, but for now I'm moving on to something more full bodied.

Nice citrus ipa with a pine aftertaste. Good beer for the price. After taste just a little too strong. If you are looking to buy a case, this is a good choice.

great color, very smooth enough hops without being overpowering. can drink on a hot day. love sierra nevada but their flagship ipa is sometimes too heavy for me in my old age. love what they have done here. orange peel, lemon, tobacco, the blue sky.

12oz can into a 12oz mug.
L: Pours a solid hazy grapefruit/apricot color with a soapy 1/2" head that quickly goes to edge foam. Low carbonation, very little lacing.
S: Pineapple, orange, hard candy, lightly nutty, light caramel. A hint of alcohol as the beer warms.
T: Grilled pineapple, grapefruit, lemon drops hard candy, caramelized malts, orange, orange rind, light honey.
F: Severely soft, smooth and juicy med-bodied glassy mouthfeel with a med-length finish. It has a moderately drying finish.
O: Overall a sweet and fairly tart hazy IPA that is robust and has a pleasantly clean taste for it's style. It is hop forward and is excellent. Another winner for Sierra Nevada!

Looks like a hazy IPA. Smells and tastes citrusy in the front & middle with well blended ABV. On the backend slightly hopped; more so than the voodoo ranger juicy haze ipa. Overall, well done Sierra Nevada!

Just an all around gem. If Hazy IPA's are you favorite, you can not go wrong with this. As soon as you snap open the cap within 1/2 seconds the cold wif of the hops hit you and you already can tell this is quality. First swing of the can, and you might catch yourself nodding, and thinking to yourself "...yep, caught a good one" all types of subtlety sweet fruits, fresh morning dew, and a light but cold humid mouth feel.... and it finishes with a nice and subtle Christmas tree sap taste. Cheers.

Purchased as a single can from Kroger for $1.59. Poured into a nonic pint glass.

L - Hazy bright yellow, with a three-finger pale white, and yeasty head.
S - Pungent pineapple. Sweet citron and pine.
T - Very hoppy, but not really bitter. Again with the pine, pineapple, and citron. Slight hint of orange rind and starfruit. Finish of faint spice and wheat.
F - Full bodied, with medium carbonation. Filling, yet refreshing.
O - A great IPA, but very one-dimensional in my opinion. This IPA got the classic Sierra Nevada treatment, with dank notes of pineapple, citrus fruits, and pine. It's a wonderful combination, until you realize this is all Sierra Nevada ever does, with the exception of their "Torpedo" lineup. This is an objectively great beer altogether, but I wish they did something different with this one; a hazy beer does not a different beer make. Probably won't buy again, but I do recommend giving it a shot.

Out of the can, with a semi-heavy pour, a large head of big, rocky bubbles builds to about an inch and a half, but quickly diminishes to a smaller head about half a finger that lasts about half way through. Definitely a hazy, gold in color. Classic NE style IPA look. The smell is a bit tame. I get a bit of pine, and fruit, but light. The taste is heavy of tropical fruit, not so heavy you get sick of it, but heavy enough you know what you should be tasting. A little bit of pine on the finish, but you get a pretty clean getaway. Very smooth, not too carbonated, but not as rich as a porter or stout. An ideal drink for someone new to the craft beer scene, or maybe a bit stand offish when it comes to IPAs. I love it. The alcohol isn’t too high or too low, just right. I think this may be one of my new favorites. I usually don’t gravitate toward what I call “craft MACRObreweries”, and Sierra Nevada usually falls into that category (not because they don’t make a good beer, but because I prefer to support the smaller brewers before the big guys), but I like this one a lot. Big thumbs up here
