Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
We're constantly brewing new IPAs looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks - unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw - to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character. To some, making an unfiltered hop bomb may seem crazy, but to us, its a hazy little thing called IPA.

Look: Opaque and unfiltered orange-yellow. Honestly looks like POG (passion orange guava juice) popular in Hawaii. Interesting look, and pours with a thick microfoamy head that subsides not too long later leaving lacy bubbles on the glass.

Smell: If you told me this was Mango Sculpin, I'd probably believe you. This is by far the most tropical smelling Sierra Nevada beer and straight up smells like mango and pineapple backed by grapefruit and pine. Very tropical, very tasty.

Taste: Straight up tropical, sweet mango pineapple up in front followed by slight piney and herbal bitterness. It's almost sweet enough to be sucrose sweet instead of maltose or the non-sweet sugars. Is this a beer or a sparkling fruit juice?

Feel: Although it's supposed to be a hop bomb at 6.7% ABV, it's honestly deceptively tasty and easy to down. There's just enough sugar sweetness to make the tongue want another taste. Body is light and not that sticky, finishing refreshing and crisp.

Overall: If this beer had been released around the same time as Sculpin, this would have replaced it for sure. Tasty tropical fruit bomb that's light enough to refresh but heavy enough on hops to impress, this has wide mass market appeal and is aided by the fact that it comes from a fairly big craft brewery that can make this stuff available everywhere for cheap. Hazy Little Thing would have been a blockbuster. In today's crowded market where everyone is already peddling fruit IPAs, it's still pretty outstanding for getting so much flavor in a comparatively light and refreshing beer. Sierra Nevada is going to have to work very hard on the marketing front to get consumers' short attention span onto this (I already saw a big display right at the entrance of my local Total Wine), but this beer deserves to be a smash hit.

Just incredible! Be careful this is a dangerous IPA. It's so delicious and so smooth, it's not hard to over consume. Just a delicious balanced IPA with citrus on the lemon side but, little pine, tiny bit of orange...........all works well. I was expecting something a bit more bitter, but this is just perfect!!!! They nailed it on this one!

The appearance is a cloudy orange with a medium head
Smell is sweet and deeply citrusy hops to the point its almost lemon.
Taste is a perfect orange like taste with enough bitter to make this thing manly. Drinkable yet complex. Wish I had bought more!

My nose loved it from the second I opened the can. Sierra Nevada says it's 40 IBU. If I wanted to make this beer perfect? I'd make it 41 IBU.

All i can say without going into detail is that this is a great ipa one shelf below the greats like Trillium and Treehouse but very, very good!

L: Crazy hazy. Can't see through this lovely brew's golden hue at all. I poured this about 5 minutes ago; about 1-1/2 fingers head came up, and there's still an almost solid (if thin) sheet coating the top. Nice lacing on the glass, too.

S: Grapefruit, orange, pine, a bit spicy and very nice.

T: Bit of pine, lots of citrus... I'm leaning towards grapefruit because there is some bitterness to it, but there is some semi-sweet orange in there, too!

F: Smoooooooth. The carbonation is creamy and pleasant, not harsh at all!

O: I regret not picking this up -much- sooner. I've been seeing it at my local Kroger the last month or so, and kept passing it by. I 'll have to be sure to get more of this before The Big K rotates it out of their stock.

Upon pouring from can to Glass, the color is a hazy peach color to me with a nice citrusy aroma. The taste has a hint of hop in it, a little bit "hop-bland" for me but not bad. The citrusy flavors are instantly apparent and the beer is very light and refreshing. With the relatively low ABV I could see this being a great beer to have outside on a hot summer day, one after the other as it is very easy drinking. As I am just getting into this haze craze and I have only a few other brews to compare it to, I really like this.

Terrific, easy drinking IPA. Poured from can with a beautiful robust head. Smell is sweet and tropical. Taste is juicy, citrus and fruity with that signature SN pine note undertone. Slight pepper-y hop kick on the back end gives you a delightful tingle on the tastebuds – brings you right back for more. All around excellent beer

I really HATE the name of this beer, but it may just be one of the best IPA's I have had. Let's face it, IPA can be a challenge to get right, and few breweries get it right. SN got it right with this one, I can slug these down one after another. IPA is all about balance, and this one has it. There is no yeast bite, and although it is hazey, it tastes and finishes really clean and crisp. I am happy they only sell it in cans, as keeping it from getting light struck keeps it the way they intended until you pop it open.

A hazy, golden-orange witbier appearance.
Nose is fresh, citrus fruit and bright hops bouquet.
Flavor follows the nose. Pungent grapefruit and tangerine, with after-notes of litchee, mango and other tropical fruits. More floral and grassy undertones develop, all pleasantly refreshing, with a somewhat astringent finish.
An icon of this new trend of Hazy Juicy IPAs.
