Style: New England IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
We're constantly brewing new IPAs looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks - unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw - to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character. To some, making an unfiltered hop bomb may seem crazy, but to us, its a hazy little thing called IPA.

Had this on 2018-09-24 in Columbia, PA from a 12oz canned on 2018-07-05

A - Hazy straw-orange with a 2-finger pillowy white head that sticks around leaving good lace.

S - Fresh pineapple and mango, mild dank and pine, cracker. Pleasant and inviting.

T - Pretty well echoes the aroma with the addition of orange flesh and peach skin, grassy and light white pepper spice and a welcoming-but-moderate-pine bitterness in the finish (no more than their pale ale).

M - Medium body and carbonation. Smooth but not too soft. I like the feel.

O - So to me, this is a very balanced beer. I'm glad there's still some West Coast goodness represented in this style. It's just darn tasty and easy to quaff.

Not bad..while certainly "hazy", it isn't as citrusy as the best examples of the NE style IMHO. All-in-all, it is a solid offering from SN.

Damn good. Maybe a little fizzy. But I'm getting tropical fruit in the nose, just-right malty sweetness with a grapefruit counterpunch, lingering resiny pine. Something to look forward to when you know it's in the fridge. Great job, Sierra Nevada!

This one needs some fine tuning. Off the appearance I could imagine this would be the case, hazy was inconsistent. The smell was not fruit forward, another warning sign. Like fate itself, the taste was exactly as expected, a layer of citrus, then water, then faint grapefruit with water, and a final layer of barely bitter hops. Womp womp. Feel is watery, but has some decent hop textures.

Not much hazy as it is orange/honey. Nose is citrusy and fruity. Taste is where the magic happens! The flavor is hoppy, bitter (in a great way), citrusy and the goodness expected from Sierra Nevada.

Hazy orange yellow, half inch fine grained head
Dense citrus hops, floral, grapefruit, grain, peach, melon, candy
Caramel, grapefruit, grassy bitterness, malt, melon, wood
Medium body, leaves a dry bitter aftertaste/feel
Decent but not outstanding

This is a shelf beer, widely available and $10 a 6 pack. It’s also stated by SNBC that this isn’t a New England style IPA. All that considered, this beer is outstanding! Highly crushable. Sierra Nevada kills it!
