Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
We're constantly brewing new IPAs looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks - unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw - to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character. To some, making an unfiltered hop bomb may seem crazy, but to us, its a hazy little thing called IPA.

Poured from can to tulip. Orange and hazy ('natch) in appearance with a nice, frothy head. Aromas of citrus juices waft up from the glass. Flavor is big, Juicy, citrusy and tropical.

Okay, there's a little haze going on. Frothy short lived head.

Smell is good, tropical notes, citrus, and a pang of piny hops.

A little lighter than it could be, the flavors feel muted.

Mouthfeel is soft, carbonation low - all in all very good.

I like how breweries are finally starting to experiment with this style. This could use some work but is overall a solid effort and a decent beer.

Hazy golden body with large white head. Aroma of pine, grass, lemon skin, fruit esther. Tastes of papaya, citrus, lemon, grass, pine, with some sizeabke hop bitterness. Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Easily the best mass(ish) produced approximation of an NEIPA out there. Pours a rich orange, not quite opaque, with a milky haze. Has a wonderful aroma, a basket of orange and its derivatives--tangelos, tangerines, clementines. Taste follows the nose. The citrus mutes the hops, perhaps more than I'd love but that's not to say it's not delicious. Mouthfeel is crisp, creamy, and smooth. Terrifically easy to drink, I could easily swig way too many.

Pours a hazy golden color with a huge, fluffy, well retained head that left tons of lacing. Smells of tropical and citrus fruits with a hint of malt. Tastes of orange, orange rind, pineapple, apricot, sweet malts, grass and moderate bitterness. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly dry finish, clean and crisp.

12oz can - heh: 'family owned, operated, and argued over'. I always appreciate some self-deprecating humour.

This beer pours a cloudy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly eggshell white head, which leaves some tiered streaky lace around the glass as it slowly and evenly subsides.

It smells of dank pine resin, uric acid, muddled domestic citrus rind, bready and grainy caramel malt, and some plain earthy, herbal, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy cereal malt, a touch of musty yeastiness, overripe oranges, some indistinct tropical fruitiness, and more laid-back leafy, weedy, and piney hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly meek in its quotidian frothiness, the body an adequate medium weight, and mostly smooth, with just a touch of generic pithiness making a minor dent in the surface sheen here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and mixed fruity esters making a lingering soiree out of it.

Overall - it seems as if they're going for a sort of New England-style IPA, but don't quite nail down all the typical markers. Yes, the bitterness is kept duly in check, but that crisp, juicy essence fails to materialize, rendering a somewhat tepid experience.

Canned 3/15/18

Pretty good, but nothing special. Lacks the nose I want from a good IPA. I won’t have trouble drinking the others from the six pack.
