Style: New England IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
We're constantly brewing new IPAs looking for bold hop flavor. With this beer, our brewers thought it was so good that we decided to serve it straight from the tanks - unfiltered, unprocessed, and raw - to let all the fruit-forward hop flavors shine. The result is a hazy beer with modest bitterness and intense hop character. To some, making an unfiltered hop bomb may seem crazy, but to us, its a hazy little thing called IPA.

(2017)

Pours a bright orange-yellow color with a light head.

Pine and grapefruit on the nose.

I like how there's not much malt in the background. This beer just focuses on the juicy hope! What comes first is pine needles and lemongrass. Then there's orange rind and citrus.

It's light but creamy on the palate, and the oils from the hops coat your mouth.

Overall, this is such a great beer. I've been looking for a not-too-heavy but not-too-light IPA that lets those hops shine not only in taste but on the palate - this is a perfect example.

Pours an opaque and hazy orange with two and a half fingers of white foam on top. Head retention is good, with great lacing left behind. Aroma is orange, tangerine, and mango giving it a tropical citrusy smell. Flavor profile is tropical citrus as well, hitting notes of orange, mango, and papaya along the way. Biscuit malts give the hops a foundation. Mouth feel is a touch fizzy and grainy, with a medium thickness. Overall, lovely citrus notes in both the aroma and flavor profile with a lovely looking pour.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.

A bit watery and thin at the end, maybe a little more on the ABV side would fill it out a bit, but this is far and away the best NEIPA by a large brewer I've ever had. I hope this sticks around! I'll be a repeat purchaser. Sierra Nevada can do little wrong as far as I'm concerned

I’m actually a fan of this NE style release! Very surprised with SN’s execution of this style - it carries barely any trace of their traditional west coast ipa repertoire. The look is consistently hazy orange/gold. Smels of mellow orange, lemon, some grapefruit. Taste follows the nose with subdued orange being the leader. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and carbonation is lively. I think this is a great beer at an affordable price, only thing is the flavor is a bit weak and almost watered down. However, this makes it sessionable.

Poured a clear, light gold body with great head and lace. The aroma is clean and airy w/ some minimal citric and floral notes. Thicker body than expected, almost heavy, slightly sticky with an earthy dryness, crisp grassiness on the finish and had some minimal sweet orange notes floating around in the background. Easy to drink and worth trying.

12oz can, poured into 12oz tulip. Poured a murky orange-yellow color, with about a half-inch of white head that dissipated instantly, and left no lacing.

The nose was fairly bland, no real hop scent, and just a hint of malt. On the tongue, a wee bit of citrus hops showed through, but was otherwise equally as benign.

The body was on the light side of medium, smooth, dry, and left no aftertaste. Drinkability was easy, even for a boring brew. This beer featured one of the major flaws of the Murkbomb style, a complete lack of charcter. when you have the glass in hand, you're not sure if you're picking it up or putting it down. Overall, a rare unimpressive brew from SN. A complete lack of character and personality.

Pours a "hazy" honey yellow with a thick white head that sticks around and leaves a generous amount of lacing on the glass. The aroma is mild, citrusy and yeasty bread. The flavor is citrusy with a mango touch. No real hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is good, if a tad under carbonated. Overall an okay beer at a decent price.

I can't say I'm in love with this one. It has a weird vegetal green pepper aftertaste. Very unique flavor overall. Too much alcohol in the smell and too much unripe fruit and herbaceousness in the taste. nb
