Otra Vez Lime & Blue AgaveOtra Vez Lime & Blue Agave
Notes: A well-balanced, tart, and refreshing ale. We combined the classic flavors of lime and blue agave nectar in a tart gose-style beer for the ultimate answer to the heavy heat of the day. The bright lime flavor helps wake up the palate while the mild sweetness of the agave rounds out the tangy zip of the citrus fruit. Light and refreshing, this all-new Otra Vez will have you calling for another round.

Pours a clear straw gold with a good head of foam, some lacing.

Smells sour and sweet, lemon, agave, smells refreshing.

Lime and agave taste, tart bordering on sour, refreshing.

Light body. Tasty and I'll say it yet again, refreshing.

Well, it looked interesting and picked it up from the fridge, didn't even notice it was a flavoured gose until I got home.

Top: one inch of white head, disappears in less than 2 minutes. The bubbles are too big to create a good looking head.

Colour: light, very light. Lemon yellow, maybe straw, with a bit of haziness.

Smell: lemon juice concentrate with a hint of lime and maybe a tiny bit of tequila.

Taste: this beer has a very light body, it feels watery. Despite being 4.9% ABV, I would believe straight away if someone would say it's alcohol free.

Sorry, but it tastes just like a regular lemonade, I swear. I don't even feel the light saltiness that a gose should have. The carbonation is low, so it's a flat one too.

Summary: it's just a glorified lemonade, there, I said it. Nothing more, and for that, it's simply too expensive. No beer like qualities whatsoever.

It might be lovely on a warm summer day, but so is a spritzer.

Appears golden yellow, nice foamy head that dropped quickly.
Smells citrusy, lime, lightly bready.
Taste follows the nose with a slight sour flavor, salt and agave, think very light tequila but without the alcohol burn.
Mouth feel is light for the style.
Overall a refreshing change of pace for a hot summer day.

Six pack of bottles picked up at Total Wine in Lynnwood, Washington.
Served in a pint glass.

Look- Clear golden straw color. Modest little white head that recedes quickly to a thin ring of foam, light lacing. Moderate carbonation streams visible.

Smell- Citrus (lemon/lime and orange), agave or pear, bready malt, floral notes.

Taste- Much like the nose, citrus and agave/pear fruity notes, tangy with a light saltiness, a slight hint of grainy malt.

Feel- Medium/light bodied, crisp and tart, easy to gulp. Medium/light carbonation on the tongue.

O- Definitely an interesting offering from SN, I don't think this could be an everyday drinker but would be nice at a summer bbq.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that left a collar around the edge and a patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of limes are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of limes and agave
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and has some refreshing properties.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a tiny fizzy white head. The head fades away fast to leave a little bit of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma of the brew is massive of a lime and agave smell mixed with a little bit of salt and sour funky feet like smell. Yuck!! Along with these smells comes a little bit of green apple and grass.
Taste - The taste begins with a sour green apple and tequila like flavor that has a strong showing of lime. As the taste advances, the lime gets stronger all while some salt comes to the tounge. At the end, the sourness seems to increase, and ends up leaving one with a tequila sour taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is very light with a rather high carbonation. For the style the feel is great and makes this brew more easy drinking.
Overall - Not really my cup of tea. Not much of a sour or tequila guy, and mixed with the weird smell, it just did not work...

L: Clear light golden pour with 2 fingers of foamy white head. Nice thing ring of lacing.

S: Lime and agave... a bit of tartness.

T.F: Just like it smells. Grains and strong lime/citrus up front. The agave gives it a bit of a tequila-esque flavor. Minimal funk and a bit tart without being overly sour. Light bodied and well carbonated. Some salt comes through at the finish.

O: A super drinkable gose... good flavor and the lime/agave work really well with the beer. A nice summer brew.

Pours a cloudy pale golden, straw coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is dominated by the lime, tart'ish, but also with a sweet soda pop aroma. Basically smells like a lemon soda. Taste is also heavy on the lime, but not as sweet as the nose, with a bit more tartness and acidity coming through, as well as hints of agava and sea salt. Finishes with a light sweetness and tartness, as well as some sea salt and lime acidity lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and carbonation.

The balance seems a little off here, this being a tad too sweet and soda pop'ish, although there is a decent tartness and acidity to it, as well as a light saltiness. While this makes for a perfectly decent and refreshing summer drink, it's really not really a great Gose in my opinion. I seem to vaguely remember liking the original Otra Vez much better.

Sour without being too aggressively so, Otra Vez hits just enough lime to matter, and is incredibly refreshing, which makes it a perfect choice for a creek or beach situation.

Look: The look is very light, a pale golden. This beer is also extremely carbonated and had a head about three fingers tall when poured non vigorously. The bubbles rose up from the bottom constantly. The lacing was consistent with the huge, silky head.
Smell: The Smell of this beer was very limey with a hint of tequila. No malt or hip character really, but perhaps a little salt. Again, the dominating smell here was lime. It’s pleasant, but not particularly beer like.
Taste: The taste kind of follows the nose. It’s a watery, slightly sweet, slightly salty, limey beer. It’s a little disappointed honestly. It would make a good summer beer but not what I was expecting from a gose. The sour just isn’t there.
Feel: The feel is nice, light, and refreshing. It would make a great summer beer or lawnmower beer. The head is silky and that feels nice.
Overall: Kinda disappointing for a Gose. Tastes kinda watery and just average. Would be a nice introduction for goses though. If someone likes lime.

Pours a fairly clear, pale yellow color with a fizzy white head. Smell is lime, hint of malt. Reminds me a lot of a Sprite. Taste is lime forward, malty. Sweeter flavors dominate. Hay towards the end. Finish has a tiny note of salt. Crisp and refreshing. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of a Sprite but that does make it easy to go down and on some really hot days that might just be perfect.

Didn't even know they took a new approach to their classic Otra Vez. Guess I got a new beer to review here, huh?

12 oz can dated 9/19/18 poured into boiler snifter.

Clear golden color with a fluffy cap of 1 finger, receding to a half finger but no lace.

Aroma of golden malts, flaked corn, apple, and lime. I'm reaching here. Like a Bud light lime almost.

Flavor is malty and syrupy. Slight apple, lime, and salt, with a finish of hay and sweet corn. Some mild but present lingering tartness.

Feel is crispy and carbonated with slight pucker and lingering acidity.

Overall, not a whole lot redeeming in this beer - of course, this could be one that drops off sharply after a couple months so being that my sample was canned 6 months ago that could be part of the issue. This wasn't offensive but it was boring as hell. Give me the old Otra Vez, that's better by a mile.

Picked up a single from Kings Beer & Wine 5-25-18 for $1.89. Canned on 3-2-18; consumed on 10-1-18.

Beer poured golden with a nice white head initially.

Nose is lime forward, very enjoyable for me.

Taste is tart with the lime leading the way. Agave sweetness balances the tartness and the salt acts like a palate cleanser.

Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Finish is dry from the salinity factor.

Overall a nice refreshing beer, would do again!

Poured into a Trillium glass a nice golden yellow color, nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger white head, which leaves some minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with some citrus/lime, agave, tart. The taste is malty, yeasty, with a nice citrus/lime note, some agave, nice tartness. Medium body, ABV is hidden very nicely. Overall, a tasty brew.

Poured from 12oz can into glass. Packaged date on can bottom is stamped as '050918C 11:37'.
Very slightly cloudy, straw colored body. Fizzy head disappears to a small island and a thin ring fed by bubbles. Leaves behind a couple of spots of lacing but most either disappears or slides back down into body.
Lime and agave in the aroma, with a slight salinity.
Tart lime mixes in with the general sourness. Minor agave sweetness. Has a touch of salinity.
Thinner mouth feel but has a burst of fizziness on the tongue. Once the salt comes through the finish is a little dry.
Refreshing for all seasons, with the base gose reinforced with the tartness of the lime and the sharp sweetness of the agave.

S: Lime zest, lime candy, limeade, lemon peel, hints of agave, light salinity.

T: Tart lime zest upfront. Limeade powder and candied lime peel. Moderately tart with a light acidity. Cracker malt and hay with a faint hint of salt. Notes of blue agave near the finish. Crisp, clean, and lightly dry.

F: Light, almost watery, but well carbonated. Lightly zippy. Clean and crisp.

O: A solid refreshing, moderately limey gose. Pretty well done.

The clear light golden yellow colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 2” fluffy white head that recedes slowly but visibly to a small ring of foam and a thin irregular island of foam while leaving a few rings, scattered patches and legs of lacing with lots of open spaces. Sipping creates various sized patches and legs of lacing, some of which slide back down to the liquid. Soon there's just a thin island of foam.

The aromas are all about the citric lime and the agave but in the background there’s a bit of the sea, a bit of wheat and malt and just a hint of acidity.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the citric lime and agave up front and backed up nicely by a bit of wheat and sweetness from the malt and wheat, some light, noticeable tartness and just a bit of salt.

The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied and gently prickly from the persistent finely bubbled light carbonation. The medium to long length finish begins as the initial burst of lime and agave give way to some light sweetness mingled with the slightly salty tartness that is light and dry in the ending.

Overall a great summer refresher that I’d be happy to have again but would be willing to have two or more in a row. I’ve enjoyed this one enough that I’ve very curious to try the Tequila barrel aged version as well.

Pours out a glowing yellow with a white head. Retention is above average and there is just a bit of lacing.

The nose is basically lime with a little salt. Not really getting the agave. Reminds me of a bud light lime only with a bit more quality. Smells refreshing none the less.

Yup. Lime and a pinch of salt. Taste like a light lager with natural lime juice added. Not much else.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with refreshing carbonation. This is a good hot weather beer for sure.

A 12 fl. oz. can, packaged on 9th May 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.

Appearance: A very lightly hazy, but mostly clear golden colour with an almost two finger white head that had decent retention, but only left sparse lacing.

Aroma: Sweet, tangy and tart, lime, hard candy, agave with a hint of wheat.

Taste: Like the aroma, it is sweet, tangy and tart. It’s got your classic hard candy flavours, and then imagine the flavours mixed. Lime comes out on top though with a light saltiness to balance.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate to low carbonation.

Overall: To be honest, I don’t remember what the original tasted like, but I enjoy this version. The flavour is right up my alley, and overall it was just clean and super refreshing for my palate especially on a hot summer day like today.

I love Sierra. I love gose. This is the perfect combination between the two.
I never had agave before but it is definitely something that's perfect for a hot summer night's drink. And goses as well. And anything from Sierra. And their perfect combination.
Because this gose was kind our more like a soda or a cider, but in a good way. It was extremely refreshing, light, fizzy and sparkling, semi sour, semi citrusy, semi cucumbery, slightly salty, but perfectly balanced, never losing its integrity and taste intensity. It was all good and really pleasant to drink from the beginning to the end.
I only regret that I had only one can... because I could imagine siiting and chilling and cooling down with a bucketful of this on this hot summer night - well, still not in the realm of the triple degrees but hot enough for 10 PM. Otra vez - I say, would have it again and again.
