This pours a clear golden yellow with a large white foamy head. The smell has a grassy, floral, and malt sweetness to it. It's not too strong, but it's nice for a summer beer. The taste has some hop bitterness to it with floral and malt sweetness. This is a refreshing and tasty brew with a light m/f and a good mixture of flavors. This could an everyday beer in the summer.

Looks like a nice golden lager with decent carbonation and a thick white head; I poured this into a pilsner glass. The aroma is nothing to write home about, there is some malt and a little floral aroma (very faint). The taste is a crisp body that has a slight bit of malty sweetness in the finish. The body is balanced well and quite enjoyable. A good lager that reminds me a German brew.

12oz twist-off 2006 bottle poured into a pint glass. Delicate white lacing atop a fairly clear, shiny golden body.

To the nose, slight floral bouquet with some grassiness and grains in the back.

In the mouth, a smooth, refreshing grainy sweetness held together with a spicy hop character and requisite carbonation. Tastes are somewhat complex for they type of drinker this is.

The feel is light and quenching but full on the tongue. It finishes dry and juicy - very satisfying and thist fullfilling.

Musings: Keep it around for the dog days. The taste is all about spices and lemons and will keep your thirst in check.

Fest pours a crystal clear gold with a foamy white head. Dissipation is immediate and nearly complete. Clean and crisp hops and lager aromas with a touch of lemon. Primary component of MF and taste is the snapping turtle hop bite. Pretty darn drinkable.

A - Clear and golden with a big foamy head. Sure looks like a pale lager to me.

S - Light hops, light malts for a very crisp nose.

T - Like a macro lager, but a little fresher and easier. A very simple taste that doesn't overachieve.

M - A little pop from the carbonation, standard lager.

D - Easy to get one down pretty quick, but I didn't want another. Some people will love this beer, some not so much. It is important to remeber that this coming from the brewer of SNPA and Bigfoot is that this is a lager and to judge it as such.

A - pours a golden honey color with half a finger if white foamy head that laces and rings the glass quickly, light carbonation is rising up the beer

S - has a very hoppy citrusy smell, definitely reminds me of summertime, with hints of unflavored iced tea

T - definitely tastes like a hoppy iced tea, very refershing. I'd imagine this would be better on a summer night on a porch after a long days work

M - light tasting with a medium body, smooth wirh great bitterness

D - moderate, easily downed, another great SN brew

Isn't a "Bottom Fermented Beer" a Lager? I don't know ... don't quite get where there going with this. There was clearly no sediment or bottle conditioning going on so ... Whatever.

Appearance: This beer is a hundred percent transparent golden color with a sudsy white head that dissipates quickly. Minimal lacing.

Aroma: Very clean in the nose. There is a slight mustyness and a grain/hop aroma (typical lager beer smell) if you look for it.

Taste: Wow. My first thought was boy this is spicy for a lager. It has a definite peppery hoppy kick up front, but that is followed with very nice smooth sweet grain/malty middle. This is a very straightforward beer. There did not seem to be a lot of complexity but it is remarkably easy to drink. With a nice crisp (lightly bitter) finish I found it quite refreshing.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is a bit light, but it is crisp and refreshing. The spicy flavor create the illusion of a bigger mouthfeel even though the body is a bit week through the center. Very nice in the end.

Drinkability: This is a lively beer for a lager, even a Euro Pale Lager. Great choice for a summer party. Easily sessionable and very inoffensive, approachable beer. It would likely be accepted by your guests.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

Pours a typical macro pour, yellow, fizzy, with a small fizzy head that has little retention.
Nice pleasent fruity smell. Grapes. With a grainy aroma. Hint of citrus hops.
Nice unexpected hop bitterness in the taste, with a grainy malty flavor in the middle, an oily hoppy finish.
Feels crisp in the mouth, but watery.
Extremely drinkable.
This is what the macro breweries could do if they added flavor to their beers. Great beer to introduce your macro loving friends to craft beer. Also would be a good pool beer and maybe a bbq beer. Still not warm enough to fully enjoy in NC. This is a decent beer that serves it's purpose.

This beer is typical for the style. Yellow, fizzy and generally bland. but when reveiwed within the style it is a little above the norm. The taste is little smoother than is typical. It doesn't seem to have the harshness that is so typical. This would be a very easy drinking brew for those hot summer days. I would take one of these over mass produced beer any day.

Found some of this cheap, a great summer beer, not exactly what you want on a sub 30 degree night in feb, but...
Fans of Sierra’s famous Pale Ale will notice the familiar hoppiness, however it’s nowhere near as bitter or strong. There is also just a hint of maltiness, and the beer pours very light, with a dark golden color and has a nice refreshing aroma.
Fans of the big American beers like Budweiser and Miller will find this beer suits their tastes, but offers a better beer flavor, and not a rice-like finish. This lager is quite fresh, and holds up well with other pilsner beers from overseas. This beer is a perfect pair for grilled burgers and chicken, had enough carbonation, and was a session beer for the hot days.

cheers…

One of my local good brew dealers had 3 sixers of this stuff sitting in their cooler for months, so I decided to give it a shot. 2005 Summerfest. Pours a pale yellow goldish color, similar to a lot of macros but damn I wish macros would taste like this. Sweet smell gives way to a real nice taste of sweet malt, hops, citrusy flavors. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but you can sit there and drink this all day. I like it a lot. The store has 2 more sixers in the cooler, I think I'll pick 'em up later on!!

Poured a semi-cloudy, yellow color with a soft head that dissipated quickly and left behind no lacing. Aromas of hops, grains, and yeast. The taste was a very mild with only a bit of hop bitterness and even less sweet malt. The carbonation added some texture, but otherwise there really was nothing special about this beer. Hardly any flavors came out and not much going on in the aftertaste. Overall, this was a below-average beer lacking flavor and texture.

Pours a light amber-gold with an inch-thick foamy white head. Aroma is light, pale malt, very mild hops, light soapy element.

Taste is light, biscuity malts and faintly tart hops. Lots of lemon, grassy (lemongrass?), slightly sour bitterness on top of a gently mild lager sweetness. Almost crosses over into hefe territory, but without the strong banana or yeasty elements.

Mouthfeel is thin and soft, not real complex but very quaffable. I could definitely session this one, especially in the heat of summer.

Light bodied, clear gold color with a medium white head.

Aroma is lightly sweet grain with a spicy, floral hops.

Taste starts out slightly tart with a biscuity malt flavor and then a slightly spicy, lemony hops bite. Balanced a little toward the hops for a pilsner, almost closer to a pale ale, but very nice. crisp and refreshing.

This should be very nice on a hot summer day to accompany mowing the grass or barbecue.

Bought this beer for the first time in early summer and stuck with it fairly regularly throughout the season. Very nice on a warm summer's day.

I don't usually like Sierra Nevada brews, but this was certainly an exception. Nice flavor, not too strong or too weak. A bit of carbonation and definite drinkability. Can polish off a sixpack in an evening and still feel up for more the next day.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color lager with a medium creamy white head with great retention. Aroma of medium sweet floral malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is very refreshing with a nice dose of sweet malt with some crisp floral hops. Body is a bit too thin to make this truly special but still very enjoyable.

Pours a nice gold with a healthy white head. Lots of carbonation streaming upwards, very lager-esque.

Hops dominate the aroma, some pine and a touch of grapefruit.

Mild malt backbone but they are a little thin on the palate, the use of west coast hops makes this different from typical Euro pale lagers, instead of grass or herbs, the flavor is pine. That is a good thing, but the pine has no malts to hold on too, and the flavor is a bit off. Finishes grainy.

Medium to light bodied, as a lager should be. Refreshing.

Think of this a Sierra Pale Ale's slightly ugly cousin, It's Sierra in lager form, but that just doesn't work out.

12 oz brown bottle, no freshness date, served in a Stein.

Pours a murky dark straw color. Head is thin but has large bubbles. It dissipates moderately rapidly and leaves big fuzzy bubbles, which is an interesting look. I’ve seen worse.

Clean grain smell. Not much more. No depth, but it’s not bad.

Similar to the smell, except with a reasonably tasty hops bite just barely present in the aftertaste. Not much else there though. Mouthfeel is pretty watery, but not as much as some Euro Lagers.

A beer with little strength or depth. It’s not at all bad, and I wouldn’t avoid it, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to buy it.

Sierra Nevada Summerfest 2005 pours a clear golden hued amber from a 12oz dark brown glass bottle with a twist off cap. Head went to well over two fingers before collapsing to a full carpet of fine foam and ample lacing all along the glass walls.

Nose is a spicy citrus pine with notes of grapefruit. Palate is is a well bittered sweet barley malt with a side of pine and grapefruit. The level of carbonation is pleasing and brings up the rear with a firm bight. Aftertaste is a pronounced grapefruit mingled with pine.

Refreshing to the palate and pleasing to the eye, Sierra Nevada Summerfest 2005 is holding up the tradition of good beer coming this way from Sierra Nevada.

Clear straw color with a fine white head. Mild grainy aroma with grassy hops. Smooth, good lager mouthfeel, with a lively, creamy malt nose. Some grassy hops clean up the finish, which is fresh and crisp, with a nice pale malt aftertaste. Highly quaffable, with very nice flavors. An all around good summer lager.

This beer poured a nice pale yellow color with a finger of white head. It smelled very good, a nice sweet flowery hops smell. It tasted a bit sweet, with some bitterness from the hops. This beer has a lot of flavor, it seems to light up all my taste buds at once, in a good way. Nice and crisp mouthfeel, very enjoyable. This is a pretty drinkable beer, I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like hops though.

12 oz twist off. $1.71/bottle (about .50 more than average local beers) 2005 on the neck band.

Pours a clear, light straw color. Thin white head of small bubbles. Smell is grassy and herbal. Light fruity notes… strange for a lager.

First taste comes with an astringent grassy flavor. Uhg. Lawn clipping aftertaste. The aftertaste is killing me. Long, lingering grass bitterness.

Hold on a minute… As the beer warms, the malt actually makes a bit of an appearance. Very odd. I still hate the aftertaste, but this has become palatable now that it has warmed up. Lager eh? If I were to drink this again, and that is a big if, I would start it chilled, but not cold. Drinking cold was a disaster, drinking cool made this an average beer.

Not sure how to score this one. For cold, go half a point lower, for cool, half a point higher.

Upon its release from the bottle it entered the glass a s a clear golden beverage with an abundant white head that left nice lingering bits on the side of the glass as it fell. Aroma is slightly sweet with a bit of malt detected. Flavor is malty with some lemon detected and has a nice dryness as the flavor matures in the mouth. Finished very light and refreshing with the dryness lingering. A very nice drinking beer. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting but very enjoyable.

Light golden body with a decent white head of short duration. A ring of suds nearly encompasses the entire rim of the glass as ample carbonation continues to feed it. Random incidents of lace break out from time to time. The nose delivers a light hop plume on top of malt breadiness. Smells refreshing and crisp. The taste is light and smooth with a fairly hefty degree of bitterness in the finish. Quite dry, but a slight sourness balances things out in the end to keep this feeling a bit more summer like and satisfying. Easy to drink and enjoyable to boot. Laga!
