When the Camp Fire started in the hills above our Chico brewery on November 8, 2018, it soon became the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. The fire burned more than 153,000 acres, killed at least 85 people, and destroyed more than 13,000 homes. Many of our employees and community members were severely impacted by this tragic event.
In the days following the fire, we announced plans to brew Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, a fundraiser beer for Camp Fire relief. We committed to brewing the beer and donating 100% of the sales to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund, aimed at long-term community rebuilding support. And we asked every brewery in the country to do it with us.
We sent out the “bat signal” calling our friends in the industry, asking our suppliers to donate ingredients, asking other breweries (our competitors) to donate their time and labor costs, and asking our wholesalers and retailers to carry the beer for free. It was a big ask, and we never could have anticipated the response.
More than 1,400 breweries signed up to brew Resilience. Our suppliers donated ingredients to every brewery nationwide. Wholesalers and retailers agreed to carry the beer and donate every dollar they received.

Can from Whole Foods. Dark amber pour with creamy head, sheets of lacing coat the glass. Aroma is straight up caramel malts. Taste starts with some earthy, piney hops, not overwhelming, but enough for it to be prominent on the palate. Caramel malts the rest. Classic Cali IPA.

$ 2.44/ 12 oz can ($ 0.203/oz) at Chalet Party Shoppe, Middlebury, IN. Reviewed 9/17/19.
“PKGD 1226 18C 12:12” stamped on bottom of the can. On shelf at store. Stored at hotel reefer temperature and served at same in a hand-washed and dried glass coffee cup. When opened, foams out of can.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Light amber, clear.
Body – Dark orange, opaque. When held to the light, dark orange and translucent.
Head – Large (Maximum 5.7 cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, medium density, average duration, diminishing to an irregular frothy and dry-appearing fifteen mm crown and a caldera-like rocky cap. Some bits of lacing remain on the glass.
Lacing – Good. Wide band of three-dimensional torn lacing with multiple stalactites.
Aroma – 4 - Earthy hops, some pine, caramel malt.
Flavor – 4 - Malty with some earthy hops. No alcohol (6.7% ABV) flavor or aroma, no dimethylsulfide, no diacetyl.
Palate – 3.75 – Medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 Considering this is a nine-month-old IPA shelved at room temperature, this is still quite good. It must have been excellent when fresh.

6/12/19...pours bright clear amber, with hints of red. Foamy lid rests on top. Sweet cherry caramel nose, with underlying bitter at the end. Toffee with vanilla open, edges towards sweet, and then snaps back with an earthy buried bitter. Real tasty.

Picked this up in Pittsburgh last weekend for a concert. Had never heard of it before and it was on clearance at Giant Eagle.
Huge tight bubbled head doesn't back down easily. Nose is fresh but mild with crystal malt and medicinal hops only.
A solid, old school blast of pine and citrus with medicinal and herbal qualities as well. The texture is thick and smooth considering the relatively modest abv. This is kind of a throwback, but tasty and worthwhile.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. "Resilience Butte County Proud IPA"
12 fl. oz. can, "PKGD 121018C06:19" and sampled on 06/06/19
Look: Slightly hazy deep amber/copper colored body beneath a finger thick head of off-white foam that dies down steadily but eventually maintains a solid surface covering and leaves very nice lacing throughout the entire glass.
Smell: Caramelish malt with notes of sugared orange and soft pine.
Taste: As the aroma suggests with a grainy, medium-dark caramel, and softly toasty malt base and hoppy notes of resin, orange, apple, spice, earth, woodiness, and dull pine. A solid bitterness anchors it and brings it to a dry, bitter finish.
Feel: Medium bodied with a crisp, fine-bubbled carbonation.
Overall: This is an old school IPA that originally made me think of Celebration ale. I'd love it to have some more hops in the aroma but I can understand why they didn't want to take this further given that it was intended to be brewed by multiple breweries across the nation. Nicely rounded and balanced.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler 1-23-19 for $1.66. Canned on 12-26-18; consumed on 5-9-19. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured orange with a beautiful white head that is leaving lacing behind.
Nose is of oranges and mango.
Taste is the patented SNBC malt baseline with a nice infusion of mango, oranges, and grapefruit. Finishes with a nice rind bitterness, 7/10 on my pallets scale.
Mouthfeel is thicker than most in this class and pretty smooth.
Overall a nice IPA, glad i tried!

This brew, from a twelve ounce aluminum can, is a dark and hazy brownish-amber color. The head is firm and rockey. Nice aroma. Resin hop notes, some wood, and a little, distant biscuit and grain. The taste is dry, with notable hop bitterness. Full in body, interesting and drinkable.

Appearance: Deep copper, with a huge khaki head and thick clouds of lace.
Aroma: Pine and citrus hops, in an old-school way.
Taste: Rich and bitter hops, with tons of grapefruit and citrus notes. Solid IPA and one I had no problem picking up a 6-pack of.
