12 oz into a snifter...this is by far my favorite of the beer camp beers, really an awesome brew...big straw yellow cloudy body with generous head. Tons of nose of wheat and yeast funk...they nailed both the weizen and the bock, so to speak...I mean nailed it, it's great, with just enough noble hops to balance it and nothing more. It's very rare that I would say this about the aroma of an American edition of a German style, but it competes with the best Germans. Taste follows suit, with big wheat and fruity characteristics. Mouthfeel is robust, energetic and quite simply, flawless. Overall, try it if you find it. Great beer.

12oz bottle

A- Poured into a pint glass. Pours a hazy golden yellow/orangish color with an off-white head with excellent lacing and retention qualities. Looks fantastic.

S- The aroma is fantastic! The aroma is sweet and malty with some spices (clove), banana, and yeast. There is no sign of alcohol in the nose whatsoever. Smells great!

T- The taste is equally as good as the aroma. The taste starts out with a lot of sweetness with some wheat and banana. The clove flavors come in next along with some yeast and a touch of warmth from the alcohol in the finish.

M- The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Really nice!

O- Overall, this is a fantastic beer. I would love to see this one in the regular rotation from Sierra Nevada. Highly recommended!

Sexy appearance with creamy white head atop a deep dark golden cloudy body of weizenbock. Nose is a delight with loads of bready/yeasty aromas, along with some spices & citrus. Palate is quite creamy, yet not too heavy to loose drinkability. Gorgeous mingle of wheat, bready flavors, citrus, spice, and a zesty carbonation level that carries nicely through the finish.

Brewed in the lighter weizenbock way, similar to Vitus, compared to the more dunkel versions like Aventinus.

A must try.

Pours a beatiful clouded banana smoothie hue with a bright slightly off white head forming thick with creamy textured head. Fine speckled lacing with chunks mixed in the pattern. Labeled as The Best of Beer Camp: Weizenbock #37. Aroma has sharp wheat with banana bread and citrus notes arising strong. Flavor is everything I enjoy about kellerweiss with a bit more punch to it. Sharp citrus/wheat combonation with hints of spicy yeast/banana/clove esters coming forth this is a very satisfying wheat beer, I had not idea that Sierra Nevada were actually wheat beer pros that hid behind the the Sierra Nevada Wheat with the red label for years, which was a dull American Wheat without any yeast fireworks from the German versions. Mouthfeel is satisfyingly carbonated with enough texture and girth the keep any craft beer drinker happy, a touch of alcohol in the back end but it's well orchestrated within the context of different flavors offered from this beer. Overall damn quality Weizenbock that I wish more craftbrewers would perfect like this.

Pours a cloudy, hazy golden color. Firm foamy head dissipates to a thin white layer. A little lacing, but not much.

Smells of sweet bananas and cloves. Hints of sweetness in the background.

A wonderful banana and clove taste. A little citrus in the end. Some banana that lingers. Reminds me of a traditional German Hefe.

Mouthfeel is creamy up front. Full body, with carbonation that lingers in the end. A smooth delightful beer.

I love German Hefe's, and I wish I could get this beer year round!

Poured into Duvel tulip with a heavy white head that left some lacing.

Very hazy pour with plenty of yeast at the bottom.

Aroma of heavy overripe banana, cloves, white pepper, belgian yeast, and Bazooka original bubblegum.

Taste is great, nice and spicy with mild spices, strong banana and clove flavors and an unreal bubblegum flavor. This is by far the strongest "original bubblegum" flavored beer I have ever had and i would say this is the best beer in the mixed Beer camp package. There is a medium to thicker body for a weizenbock which is really done well. I would get this year round if they were to offer it.

Pours a cloudy, peachy yellow with a creamy white head. Decent retention but little lace.
Smell is amazing. Malt, citrus, pepper, clove and a hint of wet cardboard.
Taste is even more involved. Malt, citrus, vanilla, pepper and other spices, melon.
Rich with a tanginess/tartness and a refreshing aspect that masks the apparent weight of the beer. This is really good. Full bodied with a medium effervescence. Finish is both tangy and mellow. So glad I had this.

Well, it took over 2 years for it to finally happen, but the other day I was able to sample again the excellent SN weizenbock I had in SoCal a few years back.

On tap at Max's.

The SN weizen pours a somewhat cloudy amber orange color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is textbook weizenbock, with banana, clove, brown sugar and a hint of chocolate. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this beer, though I was happy to see that it was not overly sweet or spicey. Also, while the beer had something of a creamy mouthfeel, it was still light on the palate and very drinkable.

Don't see all that many domestic weizenbocks, and frankly I'd be hard put to think of a better one than this. Impressive stuff...

On tap at the brewery.

Very pale and very hazy. Big white wheat beer foam with great staying power. I suppose I was expecting a darker beer (I come from a Victory Moonglow background) but this looks great.

Loads of esters, clove, banana, roasted plantains, noble German hop aroma, vanilla, cilantro, bubble gum, and a touch of alcohol.

Extreme drinkability! Alcohol is barely noticable, and the firm malt body doesn't weigh down your stomach like some SN beers do. Gentle sweetness and strong bitterness, traditional German beer done American style. Flavors come together perfectly; rich esters, malty sweetness, hop bitterness, great spicy wheat beer yeast characters. A touch of black pepper and bubble gum.

This venture outside the pale-and-hoppy-ale-with-carmel-malt realm proves that SN is way more than a one trick pony. i hope they continue to produce quality German style beers, mostly to feed my German beer kick I'm on.

Seek out this along with the Ruthless Hefeweizen.

I'm a sucker for a cool wheat brew on a hot summer day and this fit the bill nicely, Labor Day 2011
I only wish it was deemed worthy of further production,' cause I'd buy it regularly.

Pours out cloudy and thick, straw-yellow, with a foamy heady that doesn't last long. A little swirl halfway through helps open it up

Creamy banana shake mouth feel. Yummy with a hint of clove.
Perfect for the style

IMO, the best of the beer camp mixed pack. A rough pour rustled up a thick foamy head that left plenty of lacing in the glass. Mega cloudy with a deep yellow color with orange highlights. Insane hefeweizen yeast aroma that had a nice balance of banana like esters and pleasantly smoky band aid phenols which also presented a melange of tropical fruit, floral, and even a bit of a soapy (like kid's bubbles) background. Balanced yeast flavor carried over into the flavor making it somewhat similar to a sweet apple pie. A little sweet and thick to the palate, but not enough to become too cloying. Only critique I have of this beer as that it needs more hop character to give a bit more dimension and drinkability - a bit more bitterness and just a little hop flavor would put this into another tier of its own.

12oz bottle into a Stella Artois goblet. From the SN Beer Camp, #37.

Pours a vibrant tangerine body, hazy like a melted orange creamsicle. Superb-looking head, as the meringue foam slowly retreats to a thick cap of bubbles. The aroma throws out a bouquet of bubblegum, vanilla, banana, coriander, and wheat bread dough. Everything you could want in a Weizenbock...this beer is firing on all cylinders so far.

The taste does not disappoint. Far from it, as it turns up the banana and vanilla notes (banana pudding anyone?). Seriously, this stuff is like the beer-form of vanilla wafer & banana pudding. Succulent finish of orange peel and creamy wheat malts. Mouthfeel is perfect, with a medium body and light carbonation level. All in all, this is not only the best of the SN Beer Camp 12-pack, but one of the best Weizenbocks I've had (it helps that it is uber-fresh). Not exactly typical of the style, but definitely in the same vein as Brooklyn/Schneider's Hopfen-Weisse. If Sierra Nevada released this beer in six-packs or bombers I'd be all over it.

A= Pours a beautiful hazy glowing orange color with a huge thick creamy off white head that holds great retention and lacing on the glass. Looks like one of the most delicious things I've ever seen.

S= Tasty tasty bannana bread. There's a bit of clove to it and even a bit of a dirty grassy sort of smell that I typically don't get in a weizen but I'm getting here and I don't mind it. It's almost a funky note. Not brett but dirty still.

T= The taste is mouth wateringly delicious. Bannana and cream and bread all the way. The dirty smell doesn't come through in the taste at all making this taste about as perfect as possible.

M= The mouth on this is like drinking milk it's so smooth. Amazing.

D= I love Weizens and this is among the best I've had. Smooth and complex without being over bearing. I wish I could buy a 12 pack of this for summer time.

On-tap at the Sunset Grill on 01.14.09; served in a tumbler.

Slightly hazy, darkened golden in color beneath a creamy white head. Stable ringed lacing throughout until the last sip. Clean, strong banana esters with notes of mild tropical fruit. Semi-sweet, creamy malt with hints of vanilla. The bright banana and melon esters are rounded and clean. Clean clove spice that leads to a smooth finish. Medium bodied; smooth and rounded, which matched the flavors perfectly. I'm a sucker for a Weizenbock anyway, and this one doesn't miss the mark at all. Pronounced flavors, balanced alcohol, and smooth texture.

s: smells of wheat, yeast and some banana.

t: very nice taste that goes along with the smell. sweet wheat flavor. bit of banana in there.

m: creamy, medium body.

o: Great beer. I don't have much experience with this style but this was excellent - from the appearance to the taste. One of the beers available within the SN Beer Camp 12 pk mixer. This one is a winner.

12oz bottle, from the new Summer Camp 12-pack.

Interesting look; very thick and cloudy consistency with a pale, orange color. Nice creamy head with solid ring of lacing on the glass.

Pungent scent, heavy with banana and yeast, with slight citrus overtone.

Flavor thick with yeast, sweet malt and big fruit flavors of banana and orange. Malt, yeast and a subtle hop bite all meld well together for a big, but balanced, weizenbock.

Full in body, but not too thick to be refreshing. Excellent beer.

This is the best American weizenbock I've tasted yet. Flavor, body, and scent are all there. The Bavarian masters would respect this offering from Sierra Nevada.

Aroma was light, there was lots of grassy grain like smells in hear with a decent enough amount of yeast thrown in for good measure. The flavor was brilliant, full of life and grain for that matter. A very Belgian like flavor, witha good amount of light fruit like yeast and hints of pears and apples mixed in among the various grain like flavors. very light with huge carbonation. This was so amply carbonated I do not even know where t begin. Just a great light feel and smooth, crisp, clean finish. Really a winner here for sure. Very light bright flavors mixed in with a ton of carbonation to give it just that right feel really made this a winner. I could have easily had a few.

12oz bottle.

Pours murky dark gold with a two inch head of dense white froth. A thin foam cap and stringy lacing throughout the glass.

Aromatics are chock full of bananas, sugar-dusted proofing dough, and cloves. Fresh and quite estery.

Medium bodied with a pillowy, soft mouthfeel.

Plump, juicy malt, banana skins, clove dust, and some earthy spice fill the palate.

Finishes with brown-sugar dusted bananas and drizzeled malt.

Tasty, tasy brew. A pitcher please, on a hot summer day.

Excited to be able to find this Beer Camp 12 pack around my area....

This beer shocked the hell out of me frankly... I was expecting it, along with the California Common, to be the beer I least liked out of the pack but it's easily the best and I mean easily... Creamy and delicious with loads of banana presence in the aroma and flavor... Spicy and wheaty and slightly yeasty with a delicious banana finish... I drank all 3 of these in one sitting and wanted more... Were this available in sixers, I'd buy it fairly regularly....

Great little brew....

A-Pours a lovely hazy peach amber with a nice pool of off white head and good sticky lacing.

S-Fruity with banana and juicy stone fruits taking the lead. Some clove as well.

T-Delicious. Juicy fruit notes, sweet with a good underlying yeast note.

M-Medium bodied and appropriately rich.

Pours a murky gold with giant white head.

The smell is on the spicy side, not a whole lot of banana but clove and maybe cinnamon.

The taste is great. A little different than a standard Hefe but I love it none the less. Very much a clove oriented beer with a slight alcohol taste on the back but it adds a nice depth to it.

Uses differnt yeast that their normal Hefe for sure.

Pour me another one please!

12oz bottle from The 2011 Best of Beer Camp mix pack served in a weizen glass.

L - murky amber/yellow with a creamy white head that stayed as a thin layer leaving behind some lacing.

S - very good blend of spices and wheat.

T - the blend of flavors is very tasty, you get bubblegum and banana but never loose sight of the wheat.

F - medium/full bodied with a crisp feel.

O - a very good example of the style.

Pours a glowing and cloudy pale/golden yellow. The head is easily two fingers thick and has awesome retention.

Wheaty nose with notes of honey and lemon.

Wow, this is damn tasty. Like an imperial hefe, this a rich and creamy wheat presence, honey, clove and banana milkshake. So rich and tasty, I'm loving it!

Milky and creamy feeling. Carbonation is beautiful and the finish is extremely dry.

Really, really liking this. What an absolute perfect summer beer. The drinkability is outstanding. An all around terrific beer with a slight exception to the nose. I would love to be able to buy sixers of this bad boy!

A – Hazy apricot body. White head sits low with ok retention and lace.

S – Great nose. Mimosas, cherry jello, and banana jump out of the glass with a nice, light, boozy backdrop.

T – Sweet and fruity up front with a nice acidity. Honey, blood orange and grapefruit. Huge banana bread center loaded with bananas, bready malt, and walnuts.

M – Bright, refreshing carbonation does a great job of keeping the huge flavor profile in check. Medium light body.

Poured into a weizen glass.

A - Unfiltered and hazy, muddy yellow coloration, big fluffy head that lasted the ride down, and nice clumpy lacing. Presentation sets the bar high.

S - Big yeast nose with some phenol and touches of clove. Sweet but not candy-like.

T - Sweet body, yeasty and ripe with banana flavors. The finish is slightly sour, but it flows well and doesn't seem off.

M - Smooth medium body, mild carbonation level. Very mellow, even for 6.6%.

D - Does not disappoint. Stellar brew from Sierra Nevada. Make this one year round, because I will make a designated area for it in my fridge.
