Pours a hazy light golden color with a fluffy white head that dissipates quickly but leaves lace all over.
Smells of clove, banana, phenol, and a restrained sweet honey malt deep underneath. Taste is more of the honey and sweet malts with some cloves and spice. Light body, medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Nice light easy drinking brew.

A- Large foamy off white head, Moderate retention with pretty good lacing. The beer itself is a hazy dull yellow.

S- Some what hoppy for a Hefeweizen but still pretty good, hints of banana and clove hidden behind a floral citrus hop. Also some caramel and vanilla sweetness in there with a touch of bubble gum.

T- Again a little hoppy for a Hefeweizen but still very good, Big sweetness up front, little banana, some vanilla and caramel then bitter floral hops dry out the pallet. Nice flavor and very easy to drink.

This is different from most Hefes I have had do to the hops but it is some what expected from SN. Overall a pretty good beer.

Poured from abottle into my pint glass the beer is a cloudy yellow orange with head that seems to touch the ceiling. The head is thick and creamy I want to put a cherry on top and eat it with a spoon. OK now that it's settled down it leaves a tiny bit of lace around my glass. The aroma is bananas right out of the gate. Clove and sweet bubble gum. I'm getting a faint earthy black dirt smell as well. The flavor is much like the nose. Banana and clove are the most dominant with a biscuity finish. Fairly dry with mild carbonation. Medium body as far as feel goes. This is a good hefe. Not the best I've had but very drinkable nonetheless.

Pale straw/golden with a 2-3 finger white fluffy head.

Lots of sweetness with a fruity aroma in the background.

First thing I notice is a fruity (banana) taste upfront followed by a subtle malt sweetness. A standard hefe and very enjoyable.

Very typical for the style. Light bodied with high amounts of carbonation.

There are some (in my opinion) really stand-out beers from Sierra Nevada (Torpedo for example) but if there's one thing they know how to do and do well, it's making "textbook" beers. If you're interested in learning what a certain style taste like, see if Sierra Nevada makes one. While they are solid, tasty and very enjoyable, they just aren't memorable after they're gone.

finally able to find this beer around my neck of the woods. excellent hefeweizen, in fact, one of the better ones i've had and certainly one of the best ones made by any american brewery that i've had. more on the spicy side than the fruity banana/clove side, which is perfectly fine, but i personally like a bit more of the banana shining through. either way, excellent example of the style, and at such an affordable price, you really can't go wrong. sierra nevada again proves why they've been in business for so long.

Served in an Ommegang Witte glass
Poured from a 12oz bottle

A: pours a hazy yellow with ample amount of creamy/velvety white head that lingers for a short while, leaves a nice amount of lacing

S: the smell is strongly reminiscent of the heffeweizen style, strong wheat notes and also a slight sweetness

T: nice smooth taste, sweetness does sting the tongue abit initially, wheat notes are present and substantial. Slight banana flavor is there as was indicated in the description on the bottle

D/M: Strong carbonation tingle, sweetness also sting the pallet a bit. Leaves a nice smoothness on the tongue. Finnishes easy. A nice, light drinking brew

A- Yellowish beer with a lasting head. Good looking.

S- Sour and wheaty. A hint of banana. Not too bad.

T- Some nice wheat flavor, hint of banana, a little tart.

M- Medium carbonation,

O- This was not a bad brew. I have not had many Hefeweizens but this was probably the second best only to some noname brewer in Canada.

Purchased at Whole Foods in Austin and poured in to a Sierra Nevada Kellerweis weizen glass.

A - Cloudy yellow with thick, frothy head. Amazing retention, but no lacing.

S - Yeast, banana bread, and a little bit of pepper and alcohol on the tail end

T/M - Taste follows the nose. Smooth and yeasty, although it seems to lose carbonation fairly quick.

O - Nice representation of the style, although I don't see anything special here.

Look: slightly hazy gold with average white head, leaving a film.
Smell: fruity clove-like
Taste: Nice variety of flavors from the light maltiness to banana and clove and little hops influence. There is some sourness that is a bit of a turnoff but is not overwhelming.
Feel: Light, somewhat effervescent

Overall: I have to confess I was expecting more from this beer. Although enjoyable with a decent variety of flavors, it didn't give the impression of being anything more than an average wheat beer. I noticed that it was a little on the older side based on the bottled on date so I will look for a fresher sample at some point to check again.

A strong offering in this style for an American brew.

Kellwerwies is a spicy, clove, banana filled bomb of a wheat beer with all the flavor and more that you could ever ask for.

Pours with a generous head and it holds decent.

SMell is citrus and clove.

Taste is clove, citrus, banana, and sugar with just a touch of hop bitterness.

Great beer!

This is easily a top 5 American Hefe.... EASILY.

I'm very impressed. This won't be a favorite for beer joe-smoes that can't appreciate a big tasting low abv wheat... but I'm impressed. Especially for something so accessible and affordable(7.99 a six) in my area.

A great go-to hefe for the experienced beer palate. WIth a wheat ber I want something that lingers in my mouth for hours... and this does.... a solid B.

Hazy yellow-orange body, white creamy yet slightly coarse head. Clove and banana on the nose in mouthwatering fashion, clove and banana on the tongue as well, adding dry yeast towards the end as the lees come into play. Mouthfeel is disappointingly light and straightforward, with no creaminess whatsoever.
The nose and flavor were right on point and well balanced, even if the yeast came on a bit strong at the end. The feel is what really brought this one down; the light body added to the drinkability, but that benefit was negligible compared to what it sacrificed in creaminess.

I have always loved the Bavarian hefe's. This is what you would expect in a Bavarian hefe, although the yeast strain is not quite exactly the same......but how? Still has a wonderful bready banana sticky lemony taste. Aahhh, quite tasty when you are in the mood.

Appearance is a cloudy, hazy golden brew with thick frothy white head

smell - hard to pick up much, yeast, wheat

Taste - wheat, cloves

mouthfeel - flavors don't burst like some of the German counterparts, light body, solid carbonation, dry finish

drinkability - this is a nice refreshing beverage, appropriate for a hot summers day

Again, this is a solid beverage on its own, but placed against its German counterparts, it falls a bit short in terms of flavor profile.

Been a long time since we've had this one. A nice hazy light amber pour with a generous head which fades to a light lacing. Aroma is warm bread dough yeast and bannana notes. Taste is an attempt at a traditional hefeweizen but comes up a bit short in our opinion. While not up in the range of a German hefe, it's a solid offering.

Pours a bright yet cloudy dirty orange color with a brilliant rocky white head that slowly settled into a chunky cap. Aromas of banana and clove dominate with lemony wheat malt notes. The taste is fairly neutral between the spicy flavors of the yeast and the crisp edge of the wheat malt. The clove and banana flavors are a bit muted, has a noticable wheat presence. Some lemon, pepper, and metallic notes. A nice moderate feel, soft carbonation which gives the brew a creamy silky feel. Finishes astringent. Great looking and smelling hefe. Falls short in flavor, not enough banana, clove, and spice. At first it has a nice creamy texture but it quickly turns astringent. On par with some of the German offerings, and a nice American made hefe, but there are better ones to try.

Revisiting an old friend and giving it the review it deserves. Hazy golden yellow with plenty of fluffy white head on top make for a welcoming beer.

Doughy bread notes with a slightly fruity yeast character but not as strong as expected but plenty of clove spice notes to make up for it.

Sweet and a bit spicy but not quite as much banana flavor as some of Kellerweisses' cousins in Bavaria. Doughy bread character and even finishes with a slightly tangy note.

Smooth light bodied mouthfeel with a nice crisp bite in the finish. Overall, SN Kellerweiss is probably one of the best American versions of the style but I do find the yeast flavors to be a bit muted compared to some of the authentic Bavarian Hefes I've sampled.

Pours a very hazy burnt yellow color with a big white head. The head seems to have nice retention though it did go down some. Eventually fades to almost nothing but a small thin head at the top. Leaves little to no lacing as it's finished. The smell is yeast, fruit, a little bit of spice. I can pick up on some of the banana. Not completely complex but there is a good amount going on. The taste is right on with the smell. Yeast, and spices. I get more of the banana in the taste especially in the aftertaste. There is a hint of sweetness and overall it's refreshing and taste great. The mouthfeel is pretty average but what I'd expect. Overall this one is really good. A really low ABV and very refreshing. I'll definitely pick up some more of this.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a wheat beer glass.

This brew pours a hazy yellow color with three fingers of quickly receding head. Lacing is very dense. Aroma is full of wheat, banana, citrus, and spices. Plenty of clove (the enemy returns!) The taste is solid for a hefe, it's got some nice spices and wheat going down, then turns crisper with some of the citrus as well as light malts shining through. The mouthfeel is nice, it's crisp and juicy, and the drinkability is fairly good. Overall, a good Hefeweizen, but the style's still not a favourite of mine.

Cloudy pale straw in color. The nose is typically funky. The wheat really comes out in the flavor profile. There is also a nice hint of lemon on the finish.

a. is for amazing, somewhat of a cloudy look to it, lots of bubbles and the head was perfect. no lacing at all, but in my eyes that's just fine because of everything else it had to offer.

s. is for sexy, it had a very enticing smell of oranges. made me want to drink it quite hurriedly.

t. is for that's damn good. just as the smell leads you to believe, it tastes like oranges.

m. is for made up textures, almost overcarbonated but not quite. i don't know what that means but it seems right. also, it's not just almost overcarbonated water, there's texture to it, like an orange juice film leftover.

d. is for drink this beer. i would recommend this beer to anyone and everyone. i very much enjoyed it and will drink it again i'm sure.

Appearance - Poured into a mug. Has a nice hazy, opaque golden color with a fluffy two finger head that dissipates to a thin white ring.

Smell - Exactly what you would expect from a hefeweissen: spicy bananas and cloves. The bananas are taking a backseat when compared to the lemony spiciness.

Taste - taste is similar to the smell: banana, cloves, and a little lemon. Again, there is less banana here than in I would have expected.

Mouthfeel - a little thin and carbonated, but, all in all, not that bad.

Drinkability - This is an very good session beer. Not on the same level as the Weihenstephaner, but the best American hefe I have had.

A- Cloudy golden yellow with a huge off white head. Pour slowly and carefully. Head last forever but leaves little lace on the glass.

S- Subdued banana, clove and spice. True to the style but not exceptional.

T- Follows the nose. Sweet at first with banana and citrus. There is a nice burst of spice, mostly clove at the middle. Finish is dry and semisweet, slightly bitter final note.

M- On the mark for the style, light in the mouth and well carbonated. Not as smooth or as creamy as most that I've tried though.

D- Easy summer drinker. At 4.8% ABV this is a session beer.

Pretty good example of a Hefe, nothing to put it over the top though.

Poured from a twelve ouce bottle into a weizen glass.

Pours a light honey with impressive cloud. Head is one finger and short lived, not leaving much for stick or lace.

Aroma is of light malt, clove and anise. Light rotten banana aroma and fruity bubble gum with a light aroma of citrus.

Flavor is light malt (wheat), a little thin and very crisp. Middle is sweet wheat and yeast. The yeast is slightly sour with a crackly flavor. The doughiness is subdued and the yeast is a little light, the flavor reminds me of a better wit. Slight citrus flavor comes in and leaves without much ado. There is a slightly antiseptic character to the flavor, like some chemicals made thier way into the mash.

Mouthfeel is smooth and well rounded, with soft carbonation and a medium body. Finishes dry and sweet at the same time.

Pretty good weiss, if a little thin. The thin flavor and body is somewaht acceptable given the light grain bill and low ABV. Would make a decent summer time quencher.

Very cloudy, even milky lemon yellow with a nice one-finger head that retains to the end and leaves some broken sheets of lacing.

Smells sweet, with spicy clove and an earthy yeast presence. A touch of grassiness.

All of the smells are present in the flavor. The thing that's different about this Hefe is that all of the flavors show up in the finish. It starts a touch bland and then everything hits at once.

Mouthfeel is smooth with even, crisp carbonation. Medium body, even slightly fullish for the style.

Not bad at all for a brewery that specializes in a completely different style of beer altogether. Maybe this has been around for a while, but this is the first I've seen it and was surprised that SN would bother with a Hefe. Glad they did though.

Poured from a 12 oz. glass into NB globe glass. No expiration date on bottle.

A: Pours hazy, cloudy, light yellow/orange color.

S: Smells like husky wheat, corn, cloves, hint of banana and citrus.

T: Nice taste of wheat, yeast, and clove. Hints of banana come through as well.

M: Feels bubbly, light, leaves a feeling of coating.

D: Overall I think this is a very drinkable sample of the style. It ranks up there with some of the better hef's that I've had.
