Cloudy marmalade orange color with a one finger white head with poor retention and no lacing. The smell is light bananas, light cloves, and wheat. At least it has the familiar wheat beer smell.

The taste is somewhat sweet. There is light bananas, light cloves, and wheat. I don't think Sierra Nevada got this one right. I'm glad I don't have any more of this to finish.

Light bodied with modest carbonation. Thin and watery to be perfectly honest. This really pales in comparison to great Hefeweizens, such as Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. This could be an old bottle, but since I don't see a bottle date, my review stands as it is.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Samuel Adams pint glass. Purchased at Wakefield Liquors in Wakefield, RI.

A- Pours a hazy honey colored body with a nice, thick 3" head that sticks around for a while. Medium sticky, blotchy lacing.

S- Sweet and spicy including some cloves and cinnamon sitting on a wheaty-banana backbone.

T- Follows the nose. Sweet banana, nutmeg, cloves and maybe some cinnamon in the background.

M- Medium carbonation with a slightly thin mouthfeel.

Overall, I enjoyed this hefeweizen. It was complex and balanced, crisp and refreshing. Good job SN, as usual.

Appearance - Cloudy pale yellow. Large white foamy head. Persistent.

Smell - Sweet grain and banana dominate. Mild spiciness and lemony citrus.

Taste - Grain and banana, with the grain being more prominent. Surprisingly tart, lemony finish. Some spice, but not especially prominent.

Mouthfeel - Medium-light. Crisp

Overall - A little different from many hefes - more sour, less spice. Refreshing and flavorful and definitely not cloying.

12oz bottle poured into a Ratal tulip. Bottled May 23, 2012.

A: One finger head...not as much as most other Hefeweizens. I didn’t pour this into my usual tall weizen glass and I’m glad I didn’t...plenty of space. Has the requisite hazy bright yellow body though.

S: More wheat than yeasty esters. There is some banana and clove...enough to get some of the bubble gum aroma I’m used to, but not as much as usual.

T: Clean tasting, but not as complex as the hefes I normally turn to. Some esters to start and then grainy mid-palate and then some nice floral hops near the end.

M: Somewhat crisp and dry at the start but with a refreshing finish.

O: It’s a nice thirst-quenching beer that I would gladly drink on a hot day.

fantastic banana notes clove notes ,seemed as though the cold crash filtered out some of the cloudiness . seemed to be cleaner than i expected . smell seemed cleaner than i am used to on a hefe . mouth feel was spot on . taste was great but seemed mericianized for a hefe . bit hoppy .over all not bad though just not great .

Somehow, the whole is over the sum of its parts on this one. I truly enjoyed this more than each of my individual category reviews revealed. Not spectacular, but definitely respectable. Warning, this is included in my first 20 reviews. apparently not enough characters...

Good banana notes. Maybe a little too high as far as carbonation goes. Filtered appearance which seems untrue to style. Appearance also isn't the most important factor to me.

Overall a good hefeweizen. Would buy again any time I was going for a good wheat beer. Perfect for warmer months.
