Poured the Kellerweis in a pint glass

A - Pours a cloudy dirty yellow with a finger or two of white head

S - The light grass or straw with clove on the background

T - Excellent flavor from this Hefe , some wheat, clove and touch of banana.

M - Medium carbonation on this one, very hard to drink just one, not even gonna try

O - I've had better but this is a strong American version of the German Hefe, Enjoy this one, Cheers!

Served in a Peroni glass, this beer pours a hazy golden-yellow with a rather short-lived white head. Banana and clove in the nose, but not as pronounced as some Bavarian versions. More ripe banana in the fruity flavor.

M: light body; near medium carbonation.

Overall: perhaps the first SN beer I don't want to have again. Not bad and true to style, but an average version of a style I don't usually care for.

(light revision with 2013 bottle in Sept. 2013).

A: Pours a cloudy light to medium yellow in color with some notes of orange when held up to the light and minimal amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall slightly fizzy white head that quickly reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of banana, clover, and bubble gum in this beer and there is just a hint of the yeast as well. The smells are spot on for the style but lack a little in intensity.

T: Similar to the smell, the taste is not quite as intense as I would have liked but the proper flavors are in the taste. There are notes of banana, lemon/citrus, and clove with the clove/spice being more intense than in the smell.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: Easy to drink, sessionable, and refreshing - this would be a great thirst quencher on a real hot summer afternoon. I could easily put several of these down in a session and would suggest making this a regular summer cook-out beer.

As good as there is. As far as I'm concerned Kellerweis belongs with the standards of this style...namely Ayinger, Weihenstepaner, Franziskaner, Paulaner, Konig, etc...and that is no small feat. SN has quality control that should be the standard for every industry. Forget about ranking what it looks like, smells like, head, etc...it has it all. Add it to your summer hef rotation and you'll thank the GDR for inventing the style.

Into a pint glass.

Pours a clear golden yellow with thin film head. Quickly reduced lacing with bubbles rising.

Smells of clove, banana, wheat, and clean lemon.

Great mouth feel medium body and bubbly. Wheat carries the banana and bitter with moderate lemon juice. Finishes with clove, dry touch of bitter and citrus. Also a touch of pepper spice.

More orange juice flavors as it warms up.

Good American Hefe! Would make this a regular for the style.
