Pours a very cloudy and creamy yellow color into pint glass with a full white head. Lacing is plentiful. Initial taste is light and fruity, definitely taste banana. Aftertaste is fairly smooth with and slightly dry. Makes a great summertime brew. One of my favorite Hefe's and will certainly purchase more in the near future.

Yellow with a thick foamy white head

Smell is fairly aromatic and spicy. I''m getting hints of cloves and cinnamon as well as some subtle fruit smells

Taste has a definite banana-like flavor with a subtle but interesting hop profile layered on top

Mouthfeel is light and somehow seems a little creamy for such a light beer

This has a really interesting but nice flavor for a lighter beer. Seems on par with German offerings I've tried

Moderately chilly in my weizen glass.

It looks a beautiful sunset orange with a small-ish cap of white froth that settles to a perpetually surface-shielding sheet. It really just won't break up. How tenacious.

This beer's label speaks of banana bread in the flavor, and this is actually a very good description of the aroma I'm getting. And the clove it speaks of - yes, that is present. Additionally, I detect some citrus; it may be lemon, or orange. And of course, there is yeast.

"Scrumptious" is how I describe the taste. It really fits the aroma notes I just picked out astoundingly well, in exactly the order I noticed them above. Orderly, balanced flavor.

The feel is greatly carbonated and otherwise appropriate.

This is a great hefeweizen. It's faithful to the traditional German style, but also sets itself apart as American with some notable fruitiness of a citrus-like nature.

One of the better wheat beers I've tried. Wheat, clove, some mild spices, a touch a floral and a splash of banana notes. Yeasty/little funky. Super drinkable. Great summer beer. Sierra Nevada does a great job with this one.

A: Pours a hazy yellow gold with about a finger of effervescent, fairly quickly dissipating but with good retention. Truly excellent.

S: Wheat, bananas, some mild fruits, and hops. A complicated, enticing smell.

T: Wheat, spice, a bit of candy gum like flavor, and a slight floral hop bite. Some of the best I've had in this category.

M: Bubbly, fresh, and just the right amount of body.

I was able to pull the sediment out of the bottom of the bottle and into the glass . Made it pour a heavily murky banana color. Decent head size for a beer of this style.

The aroma is strong of both cloves and banana. Possibly something else fruity in the aroma as well... apricots maybe?

Some lemon adds to the banana and clove flavor typical to this style.

Soft mouthfeel without sacrificing too much carbonation. This is a very nicely brewed beer, and something I will look for again, especially on hot summer occasions.

12oz bottle, PKGD 04/23/15. This is one of my favorite American brewed German Hefeweizens. I was shocked to see I had never reviewed it
A - tall white head slowly fades atop a very cloudy golden body
S - classic Hefeweizen aroma of banana esters, clove, wheat, slight lemon and earthy hops
T - excellent balance of wheat, clove, banana and bubblegum with a hint of lemony citrus, finishing with a mild earthiness from the noble hops
M - light to medium body, nice carbonation
O - this is a great example of a classic German style of beer. I buy this all summer and love it every time.

This pours a translucent golden colour with a thin white head that has half decent retention. The nose brings forward citrus notes, banana, bread and spices like clove. The clove comes forward in the taste along with lemon loaf, pale malts and yeast. The mouthfeel is slightly slippery and lingers for a bit. A refreshing drink that would go well with a light patio lunch.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a Teku glass.

L - Pours a cloudy, light golden yellow with an airy white head.

S - Wheat, banana, and a bit of spice.

T - Banana, clove, with a bit of spice.

F - On the light side of medium.

O - Definitely enjoyed this one, but it seemed a bit light on the carbonation for a Hefeweizen to me.

I'm a big fan of these dirty, yeasty beers, and this one is no exception. A nice balance between your typical banana, citrus peel, clove, wheat, and yeast, with a real small kick of spice at the end. Not too harsh with the yeast, and not too mellow to the point where you might as well be drinking a lager. This hits all of the expected the flavors very well.

12 ounce pour into a shaker pint. bottle from a mixed season twelve pack - Summer Pack. This is a musty, wheaty beer and I did not enjoy it, but I don't like this style.

L: Pours an energetic cloudy straw with a rich white clingy, persistent foam cap. S: Yeasty, estery aromas with very distinct clove and banana and a hint of gum drop. T: A yeast driven beer with bready clove, banana, wheat and yeast flavors. F: Medium to a little above on the body and medium high carbonation. O: A very well made and easy to drink hefeweizen.

Pretty good. It's not Live Oak, but it's a great alternative for someone who lives in an area that doesn't have much distribution, Sierra Nevada is everywhere.

Best heffeweizen I've tried which I haven't tried many. Cloudy appearance and good aroma, smooth and pleasant with creamy head. Very good flavors, I'd love to know what yeast they used for this.

Bought in a sample.

5/13/15 package date.

A: Hazy orange. Two finger of of whie head. Myriad of tiny bubbles stream to form it. Retention is pillowy.

S: Smells like Germany. Seriously, this one smells like a german wheat. Phenolic with banana and clove, backgrounds of all spice.

T: Soapy and bubblegum like. Huge hits of synthetic gum and banana. Big apple juice on the backside.

M: Pillowy. The carbonation is subdued with moderate body. This one is a classic.

O: Try it. Truly a classic Hefe.

I have been wanting to try this beer and was not disappointed. Poured a beautiful hazy golden hue w/a nice 1" head and substantial lacing. It has the banana/clove smell/flavor characteristics I would expect from a Bavarian style Hefeweizen with a smooth texture and a crisp finish. Although I have only rated a few Hefe's since joining BA, I have had many over the years. This is, at the very least, as good as any German Hefe I've tried.

I had been looking forward to trying this for a year or so and was disappointed. I am a huge fan of Weihenstephaner, Hofbrau, Franziskaner, Hacker-Pschorr and other authentic German beers.

This Kellerweis - airy but with a strong blast of American tasting, piney hops mixes with a bit of Grapefruit. Not even close, sorry. If you drink authentic Hefeweizen often you would know exactly what I mean on the first tiny sip.

So surprised. Definitely notes of banana bread and cloves. A great hefeweizen! Reminds me so much of a smoother 1664 blanc. Go Bills! Let's win it all boys, and exceed 150 characters!!

Date: July 23, 2015... Glassware: Ayinger willibecker... Occasion: well pump replaced, and a tan replacement scheduled for tomorrow--time to drink... Appearance: golden yellow body is murky as a muddy river; ballooning, cratering off-white head leaves maze-like pattern of lacing .... Aroma: intense clove and banana, as expected; some fruity esters from the yeast make for an alluring, if not unique, hefeweizen ... Palate: lively, swirling, creamy body; bombards the tongue with activity, and suggestive of a surprising wheat complexity ... Taste: big, full bouquet of clove, banana, bubblegum, and secondary flavors of apple, pear, lemon grass and ginger--quite a stable of favors.... Overall: Sierra Nevada continues to impress with its portfolio of beers--they have top fermenters locked down, and now the wheat world is served notice that a refreshing, formidable, complex wheat is in the mix now....

Poured 2/3 a 12oz bottle (bottled 07Aug14) into a weizen glass and swirled the beer around inside the glass. The remaining 1/3 was poured into the glass, per instructions on bottle.
LOOK: Pours with a finger's worth of white foam that halves within 20 seconds. Dull yellow in color with a remarkable amount of cloudiness. Only when held to the light, can I see that there is a moderate amount of rising bubbles. Lacing is practically absent.
SMELL: Has mild aromas of lemon, wheat, and that infamously sweet hefeweizen yeast along with subtle banana and clove aromas.
TASTE: Initial taste is of strong clove, banana, and sweet yeast flavors. Strong wheat along with mild lemon flavors enter immediately after as all initial flavors rapidly fade to mild. About 2 seconds pass as wheat flavors become mild and all other flavors drop to subtle. This results in a tasty, but weak final taste.
FEEL: Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated but goes down relatively smooth. The finish is nice and crisp.
NOTE: An outstanding beer. Just the strength of the flavors are lacking.

I have always loved the Bavarian hefe's. This is what you would expect in a Bavarian hefe, although the yeast strain is not quite exactly the same......but how? Still has a wonderful bready banana sticky lemony taste. Aahhh, quite tasty when you are in the mood.
