Deciding which beer to buy, what is the most important thing? Taste? ABV per $?
In my location, this beer costs the same as Torpedo. Torpedo tastes better, but Big has more "kick."
This is a nice IPA, but not very bitter. It's actually a little sweet. There is a "boozy" presence, and good carbonation. The look and feel are excellent.
This beer is a good friend and a good value. Try it.

A: Pours a relatively clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate copper + amber + burnt orange + medium golden yellow + apricot colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a handful of small to medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrus/orange + citrus/grapefruit + citrus/tangerine + tropical/mango hops over the top of just slightly lighter than moderate aromas of slightly toasted + biscuit + caramel malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of slightly toasted + biscuit + caramel malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of citrus/orange + citrus/grapefruit + citrus/tangerine + tropical/mango hops which impart a moderate amount of lingering bitterness.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp with a moderate amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Drinks quite easily for a bigger DIPA with very well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly crisp + dry mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a decent balance between the sweetness of the malts and the bitterness from the hops.

Nice clarity, decent head retention with good lacing.
Aroma is somewhat subdued, but has a nice maltiness. Piney, some tropical fruit, with orange juice in the background.
Palate is mandarin oranges, mangos, and gooey pine sap. Nice malt background that provides a subtle sweetness to round out the flavors.

Look... Very little hazy copper with a white full head. Ample carbonation and lacing
Smell...so faint the smell of citrus and dank grass
Taste...a funkness fruity dank grassy weedy into a quick resolution of dry and bitter. I am so pissed that I have not had this before . HAHA> a really refreshing big beer that refreshes quite nicely
Feel...Excellent execution of the type of carbonation that really makes this beer so tasty. Prickly carb that accentuates the fruity and dissipating wetness
Overall...this is such a nice surprise but I should not be surprised that Sierra does such a fine job after all these years. An excellent Imperial IPA.

Very good tasting beer and it goes down smoothly. A relaxing beer that I found to be able to go well with Pizza and other foods. To me, a very good upper ABV that can sneak up on you if you're not used to them. I definitely recommend this beer to my friends and family.

12 oz can. Pours golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. Body is full and crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and dry. Great brew.

You must pour it cold and in a glass. If you crack the can, the smell is not what you get with a cold pour. This might sound dumb, but it is really important with a 9% beer. Glass pour compared to can drink....no comparison. Sierra continues to deliver and their "little thing" campaign is great. You won't be disappointed trying this. The head changes based on the pour speed and the temperature.

A: The beer is relatively clear yellow in color and has a light amount of carbonation along with faint hues of amber. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down a bit, leaving a large thin patch of bubbles on the surface, a narrow collar around the edge and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of orange citrus are present in the nose along with notes of caramel malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of grapefruit and tropical fruit. The hops also contribute a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer has a nice balance between the malts and hops. It also hides any traces of alcohol remarkably well for being a 9% abv Imperial IPA.

B_L_T_IPA pours with a big fluffy head, some good carbonation and a little lacing. Smells of fruit and funk. A little dank but you don't taste it. It's really a smooth IPA that lacks bitterness. Rather remarkable. Very nice for an Imperial IPA and I will buy this again. A stovepipe can dated 032222. Way to go Sierra Nevada.

t) More malt caramel, orange, pine, herbs, licorice! Some alcohol.
f) Creamy mid-body with scrubbing mouthfeel and dry finish.
o) Odd, strong, big, complex, notable for scrubbing creamy feel and licorice.

12oz can.
L: Amber colour with a light haze and a full, long-lasting head.
S: Soft malt and gentle citrus.
T: Caramel, orange zest, white pine. Semi-sweet with light bitterness. Some alcohol.
F: Medium/full body with rich mouthfeel and a bone dry finish.
O: A smooth, approachable IIPA. Probably too approachable for 9% ABV.

Poured from 19.2oz tall can into a dimpled mug. Canned 1/12/22.
Appearance: rich golden hue with a totally clear body and practically three fingers of frothy ivory foam. Really very beautiful!
Smell: sweet malt with a dank, citrusy, grapefruity hop character. A bit muddled, but not bad at all.
Taste: very sweet with lots of malt and a definite dank, grapefruity and ... even a bit of licorice in the mix, somehow. Interesting. Definitely a big-ass Imperial, but there's no subtlety here. Not bad, but a little bit of a muddle.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess. Not as much body as I might expect from a beer of this size and sweetness.
Overall: for the "price" of this level of sweetness and alcohol, I'd like a bit more hop flavor in exchange. Not terrible, but a little bit meh.
