Notes / Commercial Description:
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put —Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped, AND torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.

Resinous "new-school" and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar, and tropical fruit—all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Our Brewers selected the finest, most flavorful hops, pushed them beyond their limits and forged them into this all-new triple IPA. This reimagined Hoptimum is our hoppiest beer yet, providing a blend of tropical and citrus hop aroma that delivers a refined yet aggressive character.

Bittering hops: Simcoe
Finishing hops: Citra, Chinook, Simcoe.

Pours a nice hazing golden orange color, nice carbonation, with a nice little fizzy off-white head, with some nice sticky lacing left behind. The nose is hoppy, sweet on the lips, with some malt notes, nice citrus/pine notes. The taste is pretty good, hoppy, a little bit of malts thrown in, nice balance of pines/citrus. Medium body, with a nice bitter/dry finish. Overall a pretty tasty brew. Was very surprised to see this in a Utah SLS.

Pours a dark golden color with one finger of off white head

Smells spicy. Husky. Grassy. not as strong as I would have expected.

Taste is mouth puckering bitter, tart, piney, resinous, spicy alcoholic.

Overall a very good beer. I found this one at Pauly's in Lowell MI. This is one of my new favorite beer stores with over 650 beers to choose from!

re-dux 9.28/14

A: Served in spiegelau ipa glass. Autumn orange with a good clarity reveals a quickly paced rate of effervesce. Milky white head is thickand bready with several minutes of retention. thin skim lacing.

S: Aroma of wet pine and citrus, earthy green herbs, low level of awareness.

T: Hopping was assertive with sticky pine resins, dry flowery citrus hops with a sticky caramel malt. Warm spiciness of alcohol, pine-pepper, and sticky resins of grapefruit-orange hops. Dry sugary citrus warmth comes on the swallow.

M: Decent level of carbonation, though not snap worthy or crisp, but still leaves enough for some appreciation. Good malt consistenecy, warm pine-alcohol lingering. Sticky, warm and spicy hoppiness on the inner cheeks.

O: Overall theres quite a bit of alcohol going on here. The hops come upfront while things are dry and bitter with a knock out of piney-alcohol. The nose is a bit slight per style but flavor was solid. Overall assertive hoppiness, sticky malt, spicy alcohol tones, much more impressed this time around then last time reviewed.

12 oz bottle purchased from Happy Harry's, Grand Forks South. Poured into a Perfect Pint glass, fridge cold.

Pours a clear copper body with a one finger tall white head that drops and doesn't leave much lacing, much to my amazement. A decently enjoyable nose of hoppy fruity aromas, including grapefruit and a bit of dank earthy / piney hops. The body is solid, though nothing special. Not hot and with a decent bitterness that balances the somewhat sweet caramel malt in the body. Hop flavours continue in the same fashion as the nose, though i wish they were more prevalent. Fairly dry. A good beer, just not great. More hops!
