Very Good
Powder Day IPAPowder Day IPA
Notes: Powder Day Double Dry-Hopped IPA. We started dry-hopping, and it snowballed into a full-on powder day. Notes of citrus, stone fruit, and melon pile high in a blizzard of lupulin powder.

Malt: Munich, Two-row Pale, Wheat
Hops: Amarillo, Chinook, Comet, Citra, Herkules, Idaho 7, Mosaic, Polaris

Very good IPA. Notes of citrus and pine throughout the mouth. All in all, this is a very good ipa and beer. Impressed!

Just like the SN Juicy series of IPAs, Powder Day is loaded with fruity layers of citrus, mango, and pineapple,

Aroma: Deeply juicy. Some citrus. Apricot.

Appearance: Very light white head which fades steadily. A little murky. Light carbonation. Gold color.

Flavor: An intensely hopped pine flavor. There's a juicy/hazy element, but the pine dominates. Very crisp; There is a sort of burnt apricot, a slightly dank element as well. Citrusy as well. Quite complex.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance - Served a deep golden color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, leaving lots of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is light with notes of herb and grapefruit as well as some tangerine and melon. Some notes of grain, caramel, and bread are there as well, rounding out the aroma.
Taste- The taste starts with tangerine and bread flavor mixed with some doughiness and grapefruit hop. Other hop of herb and pine are there as well, with herb and grapefruit getting stronger and stronger as the taste advances. Some melon and a bit of harvest comes at the end, leaving one with a rather balanced hop and malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body is medium to thick with a low carbonation. Overall, pretty decent for the style and the feel.
Overall - A good brew overall and one worth trying.

12oz can, serve in a D'Achouffe tulip glass. Packaged 11/29/22 M 06:45.

Appearance: Clear golden yellow with hints of amber. Nice white head with islands of lacing. Good clarity for a IPA these days.

Smell: Lots and lots of hops - I could smell it the minute I cracked open the can. Definite citrus, a little bit of tropical fruit, a little bit of peach, and a little bit of honeydew melon. Quite nice.

Taste: Quite pleasant - hoppy, but not excessively bitter at all. Tastes a lot like it smells, with some citrus rind bitterness at the finish. Just right malt for balance.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation, a little bit sticky on the teeth, good thickness.

Overall / Drinkability: Easily drinkable, very balanced and enjoyable, and a great AIPA all around. Would pair quite well with food I think. Nice for winter - reminds me of good beer coming in the spring.

Typical copper in color. Head was off white and fairly thick as it fades it grips the sides of glass. Nose is piney. Taste is also piney with hints of citrus. Very nice bitter bite on the backend.

canned 12/22/22, consumed 2/1/23 from a tulip glass. Deep gold with 1 finger white head that recedes quickly to a thin layer. The color is deep and rich-looking. Some lacing. Some chill haze. Initial fruity smell goes away about as fast as the head. Some honeydew/ripe cantelope in flavor. Not citrus. Some hoppy bitterness, like a little brother of Celebration but more subtle in flavor and bitterness. Sudsy mouthfeel. Not very clean finish. Medium to heavy-ish body.

Sierra Nevada has been owning the wide distribution pale ale game for some time now. Im always happy to see something new from them on the shelves, but this one doesnt seem to hit the mark. Hops present themselves very bitter citrus and pine forward and leave a resiny aftertaste that lingers for a while.

Its somewhere between celebration and the pale ale, but falls short of both.

12oz. can - $2.49
Look - clear and golden, small white head, minimal lacing left behind when I finished this brew
Smell - floral, citrus, melon, dank hops
Taste - melon, citrus, berries, mellow hoppy bitterness
Feel - medium light mouthfeel and carbonation, juicy sticky finish
Overall - Has a great fruity nectar flavor that's followed by the hops that balance it out. The melon, berries, and hoppy bitterness really came thru more as it warmed. Well crafted and at 7.7% it goes down smooth and easy. Really enjoyed this brew as I paired it with Life's Been Good by Joe Walsh for maximum pleasure.

i like sierra & this beer works for me. a bit over sweet and it would benefit from more bitterness but hey, not bad.
nice aroma, nice looking can. i guess the bitterness grows a bit over time. i like it, not my favorite from this outfit, but i wil pick it up again.

PKG 12/07/22 - Completely blown away by how unbalanced the alcohol presence here is once Powder Day registers on your palate. This is just a stronger Hazy Little Thing IPA. Total letdown from SN. Coming off of Celebration, I expected better!>

Pours a nice golden color with a retentive head leaving sticky lacing as the head recedes.

Smells of danky hops with some citrus and piney notes.

Right away im tasting danky hops, some pine, grapefruit. In the mid somewhere the dank starts to take over for a nice clean finish.

12-oz. can poured in pint glass.

Appearance: Very light white head (second can had a slightly more prominent head). Fades steadily. A little murky. Light carbonation. Gold color.

Aroma: Deeply juicy. Some citrus. Apricot.

Flavor: A strongly hopped, pine flavor. There's a juicy/hazy element, but the pine dominates. Very crisp; I suppose this might qualify as a "cold IPA"? There is a sort of burnt apricot, slightly dank element as well. Citrusy as well. Quite complex.

APPEARANCE: Semi-clear golden amber, with a huge off-white head. Thick webs of lace.

NOSE: Big juicy citrus and tropical hops.

TASTE: Big juicy hops, tropical fruity with a mild citric/grapefruit bitterness at finish, but that’s slight. A nice hoppy overload here, and a very pleasing ale.
