Notes / Commercial Description:
Tumbler is our take on the classic brown ale – full of roasted malt flavor but delicate on the palate and perfect for crisp fall days. Layered with notes of chocolate and toasted bread and a hint of smoke, Tumbler is the ultimate autumn beer, so grab a seat and watch as the leaves come tumbling down.

look is a clear amber with a creamy khaki head. smell is weak, malt, dust, wood, old leaves. Taste follows with woody and roasted flavors, but an old, chalky, dry leave taste dominates. Feel is slightly chalky and finishes pleasantly dry.

I bought a 12-pack of this on a whim and was disappointed, not a fan.

12 oz bottle poured into a regular glass. Woo, 2012 vintage!

A: Pours a dark reddish copper color with low vibrance. The head is a three finger cream color with decent retention and texture. A small amount of lacing is left on the glass.

S: Light hazelnut, some chocolate, grains, and a hint of hops. Nothing that pops out by any means, but it'a pleasant enough.

T: Aside from some initial hazelnut coffee notes and a finishing kick of earthy hops, this doesn't have a lot of flavor. It's not even particularly balanced, as there are too much in the way of alpha acids on the finish. Despite that, it's pretty pleasant, if rather simple.

M: A bit too chalky on the tongue for my tastes. The hops provide a slight kick of bitterness, but otherwise, it has a neutral finish. Well carbonated and easy to drink in spite of its niggles.

O: Not one of SN's better offerings. Having said that, it's an immensely drinkable brown ale that one could find themselves drinking 3-4 of in a sitting. At least it's well priced in typical SN fashion. Average, but worth a try once.

Apperance looks like cola, very pretty

Smell, very malty, kinda weak though, not to strong aroma at all.

Taste amazing, very malty, is that coffee, Delicious and
smooth very easy to drink,

Mouthfeel, smooth and bubbly, when you drink it, it hits your mouth with a malty punch, after it goes down you get the coffee after taste, a little caramel maybee

overall A good brew,

Review from 10/2010 notes. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark brown amber with a moderate light tan head. Aroma of light malt and hops. A pleasant malty flavor with light toasted malts and caramel. I thought I caught the cinder flavor similar to Cinder Cone in there at one point. A nice low ABV brown ale.

Appearance - Pours a deep reddish brown with an off-white 2 finger head. Good retention, leaves behind a spotty lace.

Smell - Aromas are a touch nutty, hints of maple and a light roastiness.

Taste - Nicely roasted malts, gives way to a nutty, slight brown sugar character. Nicely balanced by some underlying hop notes; slightly citric. Finishes slightly bitter with a lingering roastiness.

Mouthfeel - Nice medium body with some lively carbonation. Really smooth and drinkable. Finishes slightly dry.

Overall - A really nice brown. Bold and assertive. A little more hop than your average brown, but I welcome it.
