I picked up a bottle of Sierra Nevada's Estate Homegrown Wet Hop Ale for $9.99 at The Lager Mill. I always look for this beer every year, I was a little late finding it this year, but from past experiences I know this beer holds up well, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 22oz bottle that was waxed.

A- The label looks good, t's got a nice design to it and it's eye catching. It poured a burnt orange color that took on more of a ruby and caramel color when held to the light and it had three fingers worth of chunky and fluffy very light tan head that died down to a thick ring that stayed till the end and it left lots of nice patchy lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and they impart a nice orange and citrus heavy aromas with a little bit of floral, green hops and slightly spicy hops showing up in the background. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast which leads into the malts which impart some caramel malt, pale malt, grainy, bread crust, light cracker and sweet malt like aroma. This beer has a nice aroma, it has nice balance and the hop profile is nice.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the hops still being the first to show up and they impart that same orange and citrus heavy aspects that are a little more juicy with some dank, floral and spicy hops showing up more in the background. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast and that leads into the malts with them imparting all the same aspects that they did in the aroma and they show up just a little more with the caramel malts and bread crust flavors seeming to stick out the most. On the finish there's a medium amount of bitterness with a little more sweet malts coming through and it had a 50/50 mix of malty and hoppy flavors in the aftertaste. This is a good tasting IPA, it's got nice balance and the hop profile works well with it.

M- Smooth, slightly refreshing, pretty crisp, sightly refreshing, on the thicker side of being medium bodied with a higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is good and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a good beer and it's a good example of the style, it had pretty much all the aspects that I was looking for and the fresh hops seem to give it and extra bit of citrus and juicy aspects. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple, but I think that would be my limit. What I like the most about this beer is the hop profile and balance, to me those are the highlights of this beer. What I like the least about this beer is nothing, there isn't anything that I disliked or would change. I would buy this beer again, i look for it every year and I would recommend it to anyone who like a new fresh hopped IPA. All in all I was pretty happy with this beer and it's pretty much just as good as I remember. It's one of my favorite IPA's from Sierra Nevada and it's a good example of the style. Good job guys, this is a tasty IPA, keep it up.

Batch from 2011. Drank in 2011. Bomber poured into a 10 oz tasting glass.
L: dark amber with some sticky lacing, 1.5 inch creamy head.
S: resinous hops, grassy, yeasty cracker crust.
T: SN malt center and backbone, sweet and spicy hops, pine resin, light honey, black tea, quite bitter.
F: lightly crunchy, oily and dry in the finish.
O: A fantastic tasting American ale that is very bitter and hop forward. Excellent in it's style.
