Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Pours clear golden, translucent, somewhat hazy. Leaves some foam on the top. Ring around the side. Pilsy smell. Taste is light pils, but with a firmer more present hop. Able to maintain the lightness while giving and end kick. Pretty good. Nice twist on a pils style.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours bright yellow with a finger of foam that fades quickly. Aroma is full of noble hops, and a effervescent sweetness.

First impression is that this tastes like a pretty standard pilsener, albeit a tad on the hoppy side. Refreshing, drinkable, but rather unremarkable. Not sure why they have Imperial in the name.

This is a pretty standard decent beer. No complaints, but there are much more exciting things to drink.

Pours brilliant and golden with a medium sized white head. Apples, pears, grapefruit, very fruit aroma. Sweetness is balanced by a very clean bitterness and accentuated by more hop fruit in the flavor profile. Lager yeast characteristics are present and very clean. Great hop flavor achieved through dry hopping. Mouthfeel starts off creamy but finishes with a fantastic dryness.

At 5.6% ABV I don’t really agree with calling this an Imperial Pilsner, but this would make a great session beer on a hot day.

This beer pours a very bright gold color, clear, with a thinnish layer of foam on top. The nose is a bit weak for a beer labeled imperial, but offers a pleasant helles type malt and light floral hops. Flavor is better, giving a very dry taste (both from attenuation and from hops) that allows hops to speak with a nice floral voice. Malt is present but not a significant contributor. Very clean profile. Body is a bit heavier than a normal pils, but not significantly. Decent beer, though it doesn't really live up to the "imperial" note. I'd probably call it a maisbock if I tasted it blindly.

12oz bottle poured into a Surly pint glass.

A - Pours traditional pilsner color, light gold, perfect clarity with bubbles from the bottom. At the pour, it was perfect, about 2 fingers of head at the top of the glass that dissipates quickly and leaves a nice lacing on the glass as it goes down.

S - Skunky comes out up front followed by sweetness, biscuit, and grassy hops in the back. Interesting mix of smells...similar to a Helles lager to me...

T - Like this beer a lot. Very easy drinking. Sweetness up front, biscuit, and grassy hop flavors. Delicious.

M - Light-medium bodies with medium carbonation levels and a clean, crisp finish. Very refreshing and a nice dry finish.

O - Really liked this beer and was surprised i liked it as much as i did. Well done! Will drink again for sure.

P:  Crystal clear light golden straw body with active effervescence and a small short lives airy head.

S:  Sweet honey, herbal hops, spices, timid mentholated aroma, zesty citrus tartness.

T/M:  Zesty, sweet with spicy hops, citrus oils, fresh herbs, touch of honey, red delicious apples and dry straw.  Body is slightly coarse and flavors are a tad rough with stickiness as well as prickly carbonation. Finish is dry and lingers orange rind bitterness and herbs.

O:  Fantastic German pilsner. This is a sweet sticky pilsner that delivers great flavors and aromas.  I was impressed with this and would love to have this year round. I could easily kill a six pack in no time at all.

Poured from a 12 fl. oz. bottle into a pint glass. Bottled on day 168 of 2012 (June 16). 2012 Imperial Pilsner Beer Camp #43. Not sure what is imperial about a 5.6% ABV beer, but I guess we will find out.

Appearance: Pours a beautiful golden body with a decent frothy white head.

Smell: Aroma of citrusy hops. Sweet and sticky.

Taste: Wow! Probably the most citrusy hoppy pilsner I have ever tasted! I guess that is where the imperial label comes from. A lot of taste for such a low ABV lager. Grapefruity, floral flavor. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Appropriately dense, this beer coats the mouth like few, if any other, lagers.

Overall: I love this! What a great example of what an all-star American IPA brewer can do to a lager. As a lover of pale lagers, I wish Sierra Nevada would put out something like this year-round. I would commit to a case a week at least, just in case anyone is reading this...

12oz : tulip

Golden yellow with a foamy white head, dissipates fairly quickly, leaves nice lacing.

Pine, grassy hops.

Pine and grassy hops again, with some fruity citric notes as well. Faint bready malt backing.

Medium body, with average prickly carbonation.

Quite hoppy for the style, but overall a very enjoyable "Imperial" Pilsner.

No known freshness dating.
Bottle neck has a stamp that reads

A= Pours a light golden yellow color. THe brightness of the yellow is actually sort of unnatural looking it's such a bright yellow. It looks like piss when someone has too much vitamin B12. The head rises to a half finger and falls fast into a ring around the glass and leaves little lacing behind.

S= The smell is a full on grassy hop aroma with a little bit of a straw sort of smell to it.

T= The flavor matches the smell pretty well. A nice grassy hop punch to start it out followed by a nice straw flavor and a biscuity finish on it. It's not an over the top pilsner but it fits nicely into the style. I feel like pilsners should exhibit a bit of restraint.

M= Crisp and clean.

O= I actually like this. This may be my favorite of the series so far. A nice crisp hop flavor and finish highlighted by some nice straw buiscuity flavor. A solid beer.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, 2012 date. This pours a clearish light yellow color with a large foamy white head which has good retention and leaves a lacing. The smells are of earth grass hops, some malts. The feel is medium. The taste is pretty good, some crisp hops, mild bitterness, and some malts.

Beer was one of the bottles in the newest Sierra Nevada Best of Beer Camp Variety Case.

Poured and reviewed from a DFH Pint Glass

A - Beer pours with an aggressive, fluffy, white, two finger head. The beer is a translucent, golden straw color. Curtains of sticky lacing left after drinking.

S - An earthy, malty, lemon-like aroma

T - A malty, rather sweet beer. Along with the sweet malts, a lemon-like and earthy/grassy taste as well. There is a tad of bitterness. A nice crisp finish. The ABV is barely noticeable. It does peak through just a tad as the beer warms.

M - Medium consistency. Nice tingle on the tongue from the carbonation.

O - A decent, good tasting beer. This is the first review of the beers from the variety case and it was a good start. Not necessarily my go-to style but a real easy beer to drink. Recommended.

Decent. Served in a Sierra Nevada shaker pint, I haven't purchased a tulip glass yet.

Beer is yellow and clear with a white head of small bubbles. Some lacing decent retention.

Aroma is grainy yeasty lagery.

Beer is medium in body, nice finish, mildly bitter on the back, decent overall. I enjoyed it but was expecting something more than a decent German pilsner. It is a fine beer and I'd have it again but I wouldn't get a six pack of it.

Had this beer last night, but didn't have time to do a full review.
(Going off my memory for an abridged review)

A - Golden yelow, small bubbles, 1 finger white head
S - Subtle tones of hops and a light malt body
T - Tastes just like a pilsner should taste...
M - Crisp and smooth
O - Overall, this makes an awesome Summer beer. I had 2 of these within 15 minutes as they were extremely easy to drink and were extremely light and delicate on the palate. Great beer for a Barbeque or when it's hot outside and you need something refreshing. This is more of a July beer than a September beer (from where I'm at - CT).

Would certainly drink again, but not at this time of the year.

The beer appears light golden and transparent with a half inch of foamy, white head. The aroma brings some bready malts, German lager scents, floral hops. Clean and easy drinking. I'm a big fan of this style. The beer leads with malt and finishes with some bitterness from the hops. Earthy tones in both the aroma and flavor come to life as the beer is allowed to warm a bit. Tastes a bit like Saaz hops. Well balanced and flavorful. Light to medium bodied with appropriate carbonation. I would definitely have this again.

12oz bottle to standard pint glass

A: Light blonde color with superior clarity. Bubbly with a thick snow white foamy head that just sheets the glass with speckled lace at each sip.

S: Smells of spice hops, pine oil, and signature Pilsner malt. Has a sourdough bread quality to it. Nice and inviting.

T: Taste has a dense honey sweetness with some bread crust and peppery hops. There is a fair amount of grainy pilsner going on but it is smooth and never over bearing. I get a nice spike of bitters near mid palate and pick up some light grass and floral accents too. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden. A real nice Pils. Very drinkable. Almost an APA hybrid.

M: Very light and frothy feel. Smooth with a nice dry crisp finish. Appropriate to style.

D: A great quaff, especially for quenching the thirst in warmer climates. Nice hoppy bite with a distinctive honey sweetness and I found the actual Pilsner malt a little toned down here.
Again closer to an APA hybrid which I enjoyed thoroughly.
