Reviewed from notes.

Pours a dark mahogany brown collar with a short tan head and no real lacing on the way down. The nose brings forward a good dosing of Belgian yeast with some dark fruits and a bit of oak. Mild sweetness. The flavor has some oak, dark fruits, and a bit of spice. Mild tannins and good oak character. Medium body with a good oak character. Light barrel notes in the finish. Really nice beer; glad to try it.

On-tap at Oakquinox

Pours a dark amber/light brown color with a khaki head. Strong vanilla notes right off the bat. There’s definite some whiskey character along with a decent fruitiness, too. Plenty of brown sugar, toffee, and bread as well. The flavor has strong vanilla and wood flavors and plenty of malt sweetness. Heavy on the toffee and toasted bread with a light fruit character. Sweet and malty and enjoyable.

On tap at Max's during Baltimore Beer Week.

The beer pours a fairly dark amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is sweet and spicey, with some light rootbeer, vanilla and cherry. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, though it's not as sweet as I was expecting (thankfully). Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long finish. Alcohol is pretty well integrated into the flavor profile, which is impressive given the 8% abv.

A nice enough beer, but not one of the more exciting offerings from SN.

Sampled again at the Beer Revolution during SF beer week on 2/10/13. The beer board at BR indicated a beer with a much higher abv., and frankly the beer tonight tasted much more like an 11% plus beer. This beer showed considerably more bourbon, chocolate, rum rasian and plum, and just seemed to have more of everything. It was absolutely delicious. I have gone ahead and update my review accordingly.

Had on tap at Crunchy's in East lansing. Aged in brandy barrels.

A: Pours a darker mahogany with a finger of off-white head.

S: Just a hint of malt and fruit.

T:Fruit sweetness to start moving into light malt and a hint of woodiness.

M: medium body with great carbonation.

O: I really enjoyed this beer.

What a great concept. Had this on tap at sierra night, in beer heaven aka San Diego. Looks of a blend between the two types, maybe a little lighter than i expected. Smell of belgium candy and raisins. Taste like a strong bubbel. Good mouth feel, Kinda wish i could try the two before they blended them. Very drinkable.

A - Served a brown-copper color with a tannish half-finger of frothy head. Fades slowly leaving lots of lace behind.

S - Aroma is a mix of Quad elements with some rich dark fruits including some fig and prune. There is also some Dubbel noticeable as well with some sweet malts and some cherry and yeast.

T - Starts off with a mix of sweet cherry flavors with some light yeast and some rich caramel malts. Through the middle, some stronger dark fruit flavors with some more fruit sweetness comes through. The finish is a mix of sweet dark fruit flavors with some yeast and a bit of cherry sweetness.

M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a sweet and warming mounthfeel.

D - Surprisingly drinkable. Very nice blend that really had the richness of a Quad with the smooth drinkability of a Dubbel.

This is a dubbel quad blend that was then aged in oak barrels.

Poured into a sierra snifter at KnB wine cellars

produces a nice tan head about 2 fingers worth.

the aroma is a small amount of belgian earth along with a slight bit of alcohol showing through. Sweet malts also carry threw the aroma.

the mouthfeel is great. heavy enough to cover the mouth and with just enough carb to cut through the barrel presence and mellow out the sweetness from the brew.

the taste is dark heavy malt with just a tad of dark fruits and a medium strength bourbon flavor coming through.

could easily go through a glass or two of this beer.
