A-Pours a deep golden brown color with a thin head and poor retention. Minimal lacing.

S-Very earthy hops. Unforgivingly yeasty. I'm also picking up on some notes of peppery basil leaves and citrusy, tangy fruits.

T- Yeasty bread, peppered mandarin oranges

MF-Surprisingly smooth for an IPA. Very good balance between smoothness and crispness

O-One of the better IPA's I've had. It is not too abrasive, which seems to be the problem with most IPA's in my opinion. This one is very subtle and forgiving and has no notes that kick you in the teeth.

12 oz. bottle, with packaged on date of 12/12/2013. Vintage 2014 printed on the label.

Poured into an Arrogant Bastard pint glass.

A - Pours a nice bright bronze color, semi-clear with tons of carbonation bubbles and sediment rushing topside in the glass. Two fingers of frothy off-white head with excellent staying power. Leaves behind fat rings of lacing. Looks very nice.

S - The nose doesn't have much going on. Some fruity grapefruit hops, and some peppery rye spice, but little else.

T - Grainy and spicy. Heavy taste of rye and cracked peppercorns. Hoppy grapefruit bitterness with maybe a bit of blood orange in the end. Piney, some bready malt, but not what I would call spicy. Fruity, citrusy, juicy, and bitter.

M - Bitter and dry feel. Smooth and clean. Some hop resins hanging onto the tongue along with that touch of sweetness. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, I would call it an average IPA, approachable for the style, but I'd say it lies more toward the bitter side of things.

A - First pour was awasome finger head with big bubbles that recess to little ones
S - You really smell the rye for sure but than goes to a bitter hop smell with some pine not a whole lot of smell going on
T - Bitterness is first with a slow rye taste after followed by some nectar taste
M - This feels lighter than normal light for an ipa
O - Not impressed by this beer it's worth trying but not my number one

This was an "OK" beer from the Titan out west which didn't really surprise me. I found this beer to be very mild with taste and the Rye really doesn't shine through on this beer at all. IT was not a bad beer but it was not memorable either, the beer is worth giving a try though. They could have hopped this beer out a tad more and they should have added more rye especially since the Title of the beer states this beer is all about rye...???

I will keep this one simple

it has a good aftertaste almost spicy cause of the rye but it is really drinkable for being an ipa in my standards. Not saying ipa is not drinkable beer but this one sticks with me as a really drinkable one. I would drink it if offered anytime.
love it

The first time I had this beer was just about two years ago when I only rated it. This year (2015) I'm adding a review almost exactly two years later. This bottle was filled in early Dec. (2014) but has been kept properly chilled for most of its life and so should still be able to give a fairly good account of itself.

The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a nice reddish copper color with a 1/2 inch head of ivory foam that soon settles into a thin film on top of the liquid with an irregular island of foam.. There is a ring of foam around the glass and sipping leaves patches, speckles and some leggy lacing on the side of the glass.

The aromas include some malt, a touch of rye, and some pine resin and earthy hops.

The flavors include a background of malt showcasing some bitter, spicy, peppery notes from the hops and rye.

The mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with nice light but crisp carbonation. The finish is long and dry, leading easily on to the next sip.

Overall I’ve enjoyed this beer and will definitely look forward to having it again and finding it just a bit fresher next year as well. My gut feel is that the flavors will be even better with a bit less time in the bottle.
