Picked up a 6 pack of bottles tonight. Poured it into an Ommegang narrow tulip pint glass.

A - Deep copper, crystal clear with a thick white head. Leaves a good deal of lacing down the glass

S - Citrus/pine hop aroma. A dank, vegetal aroma in the background.

T - Spicy and sweet up front, with some bready and light caramel notes. Followed by a nice burst of citrus hops. Finished with a dank, vegetal character a bit reminiscent of marijuana. Not sure if its the hops or the rye. Not an unpleasant or overwhelming flavor.

M - Medium bodied. Rye spiciness helps counterbalance the sweetness to keep it from being cloying.

Overall, a nice change from a standard IPA. I'm not sure how I think the vegetal character would keep it from being an IPA I go back to again and again, but it's definitely a unique and interesting beer.

Another wonderfully built beer by Sierra Nevada. They just know how to make a good looking beer. Couple fingers of creamy off white head, clear/bright amber/light brownish copper color. Lots of soapy lace.

Aroma is fresh and very nice. Bready with a nice undertone of light citrus.

Does have the nice rye bready flavor that I enjoy. Drinks a bit more like an APA vs. an IPA, but very nice. Just a touch of the roasted/spice note of the rye and then a dark toasted crusty bread flavor. Actually quite fruity as well.

Very subtle carbonation, a bit slick.

A nice little beer. Not sure I’ll invest in a 12 pack for the house, but perhaps a sixer.

A: Somewhere between amber and copper. Nice clarity. Moderate sized white head. Spotty Lacing.

S: Spicy, grassy, piney hops. Strong component of grain and rye.

T: The hops wash out a bit, leaving mostly a spicy character. This combined with the strong presence of rye gives this beer a harsh/raw vibe.

M: Assertive carbonation + rye + spicy hops = prickly mouthfeel.

O: Can't say I "love" rye beers, but this is no Hop Rod Rye.

Aroma of grapefruit,/citrus. Spicy/peppery notes from the rye. Pours with a copper color, clear. Off white head laces on glass. First sip is a noticable bitterness along with the grapfruit notes. Spicy chararcter is notiable but plays a background in this beer. Would like to see a little more rye character. Bitterness is upfront malt is light and takes a back seat. First impression was not the best but as I finished the pint the mote I liked it.

Enjoyed this stubby bottle out of a large snifter glass.

A: Pours a clear copper hue with a white 2-finger head that quickly dissipates in to a wispy lace leaving a partial trail down the glass.

S: Hoppy aroma with hints of lemon and pine in the background.

T: Strong hoppy bitter flavor with acrisp rye background. Finishes on the dry side of bitter.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Really good Rye IPA. Nice and hoppy with a good rye background.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A - Pours copper - about 2 fingers of white/off-white head which disapates rather quickly.

S - Certainly unique. Smells rather earthy, spices, with a little bit of citrus zest.

T - Unique taste - a lot of the earthy tones, hops, a little rye - finishes rather dry.

M - Medium bodied.

O - Certainly interesting - not the biggest fan of it, but I've only had a handful of rye beers. Unique though

A new one from Sierra Nevada.

A: copper coloring with a tan 2 finger head. The label is awesome and classy.

S: spicy, grassy, earthy, and rich.

T: a citrus hoppy beginning with a pine finish. Peppery, bitter, and deep rye flavors.

M: rich in flavor, tingling carbonation

O: very enjoyable. Nice addition to the Sierra Nevada family.

12oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.

L - clear amber color with a fluffy white head that left lots of stcky lacing behind.

S - tropical citrus aroma is nice.

T - good balance of hops and malts with a good does of rye.

F - medium bodied it goes down smooth and easy.

O - Rye Pee Ay!
