About the perfect pour, black and dark brown in color, thick viscosity, perfect 1.5" head on the top, beige in color, amazing retention and lacing from it. Simply not a better looking porter when you mix the quality and consistency of Sierra Nevada for this beer. Aroma, nice and mildly smokey, not over the top rauchbier like smokiness, this has the substantial malt bill to absorb the smokiness to make it enjoyable instead of a detraction type of pissing contest of who can make the smokiest beer out there. Throw in some caramel, chocolate malt, roasted nuttiness, and you're understanding the aroma.

Taste, exactly what a smoked porter should taste like, deep burnt malt, bitterness, smokiness. The bitterness is just right, some may pull coffee out of it, not me though, it was more akin to the bitterness you get with a substantial amount of roasting of the malt and Sierra Nevada's usual distinct hopping quotients. Amazingly robust, yet easy drinking.

I could guess what they did here, was take their already awesome porter, and simply add the smoked malt addition, nothing complex, no need to reinvent the wheel when the base beer is just so nice.

Well, that was the "audition". . . beerandraiderfan says throw 'er in 4/6 packs already!

Great looking beer, mostly brown, chewy texture appearance for a liquid. Over an inch of head. Held in there a long time before it receded.

Taste was a charred malt, bitter and smoky. Takes on coffee like notes from the roasting. Plenty of hops.

Straight forward solid beer. Campfire worthy.

poured from 750ml into a Duvel tulip. just received this in a trade.

a: solid two fingers worth of light brown head. as far as I can tell this is completely opaque.

s: lot's of roasted nuts and toasted bread threaded with some caramel sweetness. slight root beer notes at the end... weird.

t: I'm getting a lot of typical porter flavors in this, a nice balance of coffee, chocolate, and malts. as it warms a smokey flavor envelopes. I'm not usually a fan of smoked beers but this was a great addition.

m: a bit bitter but drinks smoothly. sorta reminds me of a bigger Founders Porter.

o: I'm a big porter fan and I was not upset by this at all. In fact it may just be one of the better porters I've had this year. I got this in a beer trade on reddit so I'm not sure what the distribution might be on this.
