The first beer I had last time I was in Chico to pick up some barrel aged Bigfoot.

Poured an amazing black for a lager. Would have thought this was their stout, but for the difference in viscosity. Amazing head retention. Great lacing. Near perfection.

Aroma was seemingly hopped heavily with cascades & chinooks. Enjoyable.

Taste had the light crisp mouthfeel of a pilsner, but the roasting of a porter. Well carbonated, light on its feet, but plenty bitter. You really get the best of both worlds with this one. The hopping is substantial, just like the carbonation that seems to only amp up the bitterness relative to the body. The roasting of the malt is heavy here, even if the amount used isn't all that big and well suited to the style. Plenty dry, not sweet at all.

Would definitely like to see this again. 29 IBU

Really dark and impressive pour. Sierra Nevada beers are always sexy. This one is as close to perfection as you can get image wise.

Aroma was plenty hoppy, wasn't all roast or even to such a degree that it took away from the hopping. Eyes be playing tricks on you if you thought you were getting into a heavy beer. Taste delivered on the hops, mouthfeel was bitter but lighter than the color would make you think. Roast, yet not where the bitterness is derived from. Very well made.
