Appearance is deep red, with slight cloudiness and light white foam cap that dissipated quickly. Aroma is subdued for an IPA, with caramel malt actually more noticeable than the faint tropical fruit hop notes. Taste is malt forward with caramel and a distinct roasted chocolate malt flavor. Hops kick in at the end with a tart grapefruit flavor and acidity. Mouthfeel is moderate with a light to moderate carbonation. Finishes with a lingering bitterness and grapefruit tartness.

Served in a pint glass from the bottle.

Appearance: Slight hazy deep red Amber body with slight sediments to the body. Head is off-white off the body just about one finger's length. Drops to half after a sip.

Smell: Light lemons and hops, lightly hoppy.

Taste: Bitter but not too bitter with a dose of floral feel. You feel the hops and it is definitely more of the starter beers if you want to graze the world of IPAs.

Mouth: Smooth and easy to drink with a lift medium stickiness.

Overall: Descent brew, personally not going to be one of these annuals that I will hunt for. Best to have at the beach or get together and always in a glass. Salud!

12 oz. bottle poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

A- Amber, red. Great tan head is a good dense pad with great retention and lacing slopped all the way down the glass by the time I'm finished.

S- Mix of toasty malt, borderline roast, along with citrus and tropical hop notes.

T- Roast and toast. Pine and citrus flavors.

M- Medium body. Roasty and hoppy bitterness in the finish. Lingers, but not really dry.

O- Not bad. Interesting mix of summer and fall flavors.

Review is from notes.

Poured an attractive amber red with a khaki foam and nice lace. Smells earthy with resinous pine tones. Taste is moderately bitter, flavors are rye earthy/spice, floraln and a hint of citrus and caramel. Medium body holds together well. Solidly carbonated. Clean finish. Interesting IPA isn't a 'classic' Rye-IPA and this one is growing on me.
