So I’m tasting my first Berliner Weisse in Berlin. I chose raspberry as the flavoring.
Rich foamy (pink) head. Lumpy reduction and very slow. Cherry red color. Cloudy.
Not much smell, not even with the raspberry.
I’ve never had beer served with a straw. It is very sweet with little of the sourness I expected. Note: as I drank it, it did become much more sour. It’s tasty but frankly quite girly to me—definitely a dessert drink. I had the opportunity to try the Weisse without flavoring and it had a strong metallic (read, iron) taste.
I feel indoctrinated to the Berlin brewer scene now.

De color dorado, con un dedo de espuma de baja reención. De cuerpo ligero y carbonatación media. Aroma a trigo, hierbas y limón. En boca tiene notas de acidez matizadas con otras notas dulces.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy straw yellow with a modest soon gone head. Scent is slightly sourish lemony wheat, as is the taste. A thirst quencher!

Pours a cloudy white-yellow color with a small top off white head that dissolves quickly. Aroma is sour, tart, acidic, bitter lemon, green apples and wheat. The taste is sour and tart with notes of lemon and some slight wheat notes in the back. The taste dissappear quite fast , but is really refreshing . Mouthfeel is crisp and clean with a light body and lively carbonation. Not my typical beerstyle, but is really refreshing and easy drinking for that low abv. A good alternative for a hot summer day.

Platinum blonde; tart hit with some dough + cheesy funk; cream of wheat, slight apple, gentle sourness, and vague lime zest to end; light and round.

I just realized how much most modern craft Berliners are bad + suck. This is so incredibly balanced, not punishingly sour, crisp yet soft - all of that "champagne of the North" thing suddenly makes sense. (And the acidity is truly not vinegar or lemon, putting some context on lactic for me.) No other brewery, expect perhaps Toolbox + Kernel, have managed this, in my experience. Why even add fruit syrup? I'd drink this every day. And at 3%? A classic.

330 mL bottle. Pale hazy yellow. Smells of wheat and lemon acidity. Tastes exactly the same, perhaps grainier. Wheat, lemon acidity, and more wheat. Light body. Drops off in the finish. It's fine, but not the most exciting beer.

Very carbonated and limony, medium bodied and considerably sour, making it a an interesting beer. Not the type I'd want to drink all the time, but paired well with schnitzel I had with it. Not offensive, just different.

This is a great beer - I can understand that many have problems with the sourness, but I had no problem that way, in spite of disliking lemon juice or flavouring.
Smell mainly yeast
Very carbonated -- needs a wider glass or an aggressive pour
Sour, lemony, partnered with the champagne level carbonation, make this really refreshing and thirst quenching
Being only 3% make drinking a few no problem. Definitely the best 'small' beer I've tasted.
(It's the first beer of the style I've tried)

MJ's "Guide" gave this 3 of 4 stars and said "it scores for assertiveness, but lacks complexity and length."
Listed among the "1001 Beers", this deserves to be there based on the history alone of this "champagne of the north" as Napoleon's troops dubbed it. Since there used to hundreds of brewers in Berlin that specialized in this style and there are only two today, the history is about preservation, too.
If you like sour, then try this. Designed to be refreshing on a hot day, it succeeds. It even looks like a thirst-quencher. Also good with raspberry and woodruff syrups in the glass or in the bottle.
