Febr. 2011. Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 3.0%. Signal green colour, low white head. Almond essence / marzipan aroma. Sour flavour with strong notes of almond essence / marzipan. Weird. The otherwise refreshing sour flavour does not blend in well with the sweetish marzipan elements.

De Labirratorium. En copa Teku. Estudiando. Igual de rica que la anterior de frambuesas pero en esta ocasión con un peculiar toque a no se qué que le da bastante interés. Y con al 3 grados que no le afectan al feel en loas minimo

33cl bottle.

Artificial lighr green colour -- meaning it is a very simple shade of green.

Aroma is woodruff syrup... a bit of lactic tang, but hard to say if that is just because one knows that underneath it is a berliner weisse.

Taste is lemonade like, citric notes of acidity cut the herbal notes coated with a lot of candy, but it is not cloying. If the underlying weisse had more character, this would be even interesting. Now this is a fizzy summer drink. With strong associations of locality.

It is OK for what it aims to be. Some grit and edge would raise this to be a valid type of fruit beer.

Great colour with greeny small head, short retention. Good lace.
Aroma of cinnamon, cookies, syrup.
Medium to light body, sticky texture, normal carbonation.
Taste of cookies, cinnamon.
Too artificial and sugary.

330ml bottle in Alexanderplatz, Berlin (€1.50):
This is a strange beer & despite being one I'd tried previously, I was still surprised by just how sweet & sugary it was which is something that was seemingly masked by the fact that usually I would drink this one straight from the bottle. The beer was overly sweet & came through as more like a fruit juice at times, there was some lime & citrus in there but the apples definitely dominated from the start & it wasn't the most well balanced beer either. It was drinkable & I wouldn't say it's a beer that I'd never have again since it is so readily available in Berlin but it is definitely not one to look out for.

Clear, green color with greenish head. Aroma is bright and herbal with a lactic tang. Taste starts sweet and sour with a herbal/fruity note, like some green apple hard candy. Light body, smooth mouthfeel, well carbonated. It's not really a true to style berliner weisse but overall it's not bad. The flavoring does not bother me at all, it's not overly sweet, still leans more towards the sour side. Really refreshing and easy drinking.

Waldmeister is one of those uniquely German flavors, and requires some getting used to. Pours hazy green with a thin white/greenish head. Sweet, soapy aroma. Taste is sour apple Jolly Rancher and dish soap. Not in a bad way, but it requires some adjustment....

330 ml bottle trucked all the way from southern Germany by my buddy Moritz! I poured this one into my perfect pint.

Appearance: Well, not even on St. Patrick's day have my beers been this green. A clear green liquid is in my beer glass with a white fizzy head that it self has a green tint.

Smell: Mainly syrupy sweetness with hints of green apple and herbs. No grains, hops, or yeast.

Taste: The sweetness of the woodruff syrup overtakes the beer. A touch of sour comes in on the finish. Not a bad taste, just not like any other beer you have ever had.

Mouthfeel: Fine, probably a little thicker than other 3.0 ABV beers. The carbonation is strong and fizzy.

Overall: Glad to have tried it for its "unique" nature. I did quite like the original, and I need to hunt down some more Berliner Weissbier.
