Had at Birreria, the Eataly NYC rooftop brewery and bar on Tuesday 7/26/2011; bottle said it’s brewed with gentian root.
Pours cloudy orange in color with a massive bubbly 2 finger beige head that faded slowly and left great spotty lacing and a creamy layer on top; tons of bubbles race up the beer.
Smells of citrus hops, herbs, sweet malt, grains, yeast, faint brown sugar, grass, floral hops, flowers and light spices.
Tastes of citrus hops, herbs, sweet malt, grains, yeast, light lemon, caramel, faint brown sugar, grass, hay, floral hops, flowers, spices and something that's funky and hard to determine (gentian root possibly?). It's like a malty, sweet Belgian that goes down easy, very easy in fact, especially on a hot summer evening.
Mouthfeel is creamy and slick, with little to no carbonation, a medium body and sweet dry aftertaste and finish. A very tasty beer that went down easy and could be a session beer; would also pair quite well with a fish dish. I recommend trying this beer.

June 2015: 750 ml bottle, as Birra del Borgo Genziana con radici, from Vinmonopolet. BB date March 2015. ABV is 6.1%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Strong sweetish malty and herbal / vegetable aroma. The flavour is also quite sugary sweet, notes of malts, caramel, herbs and vegetables (the radishes, I assume). Low bitterness. Not really my cup of tea. Drank it moderately chilled - might be more refreshing ice cold.

0.33l bottle.
Pours slightly hazy amer with a ring of white froth, scanty retention.
Smell - belgian profile, spicy, yeasty, grassy, floral, utterly fresh.
Taste - follows the smell, gentian not detected. Smooth, fruity belgian ale.
Medium body, high carbonation.
Refreshing belgian ale.

This is a pretty tasty beer. It's super floral, grassy and with a great balance between sweetness and the floral bitterness. Lots of bitter greens on the nose and taste. Extremely drinkable!

On the "1001", this was an odd beer. I probably won't buy it again and review it.

Hazy orange color with creamy, white head. Aroma is grassy, herbal, like a herbal tea with camomile. Taste has very nice saison notes along the herbal component. Slightly sweet but overall really drinkable. Body is really soft and has medium to low carbonation. Really tasty and easy to drink.
