A-Hazy orange with a thick off white head that does not want to leave and is cloudy and luscious
S-I get a mineral type of aroma that is soapy and not very pleasant. But there is also a nice dank earthy herbal layer below...
M-Medium velvet mouthfeel with low carbonation that is really wonderful
T-Very subtle sweetness upfront with a smooth bitterness that does not overpower and remains on the palate and around the gums
O-This is a wonderful rendition of an American classic, the Italian air doesn't hurt it either!

330ml bottle poured into a teku glass.

Hazy deep copper amber color as a showcase which is considered as darker than typical Pale Ale, the pour forms up very thick fluffy off-white head that stands with very good retention before slowly subsiding to an eternal layer of foamy crown and leaving lots of lacing patch and spot along the glass-side.

The fruity hop aroma of citrus, lime, melon, mango, as well as spice and some piney resin lead forwards while malt is also there with its bread and caramel quality.

Intense hoppy goodness in the taste which is a bit far beyond Pale Ale boundary, fruitiness can be perceived with the flavors of citrus, lime, and mango as well as some spice and moderate piney resin yet modest bitterness. Malt works along well in the background with its breadiness, sweetness, and caramel. It is tasty and delicious.

Medium body with some full and bold touch through the palate, mouthfeel is quite smooth with moderate lively crisp carbonation, refreshing in feeling with a dry finish.

The Italian has nailed it again with this good Pale Ale. In fact, I think it is something between IPA and APA.

On tap at Rotezzia in Soriano Nel Cimino, Italy. Served in a chalice:

Appearance: pours dark red, nearly brownish, with ruby highlights. Super fat and sudsy off-white head, with continuous bubbles rising and reforming the head. No visibility through the beer.

Aroma: heavy on the malt and slight sweetness, some dark cherry, maybe even a little spice. I don't get much of the typical APA scents, aside from some floral notes.

Taste: again, it doesn't drink like an APA really at all, but the flavors are still solid. Lightly toasted malt, some caramel and sweeter malt notes, along with some slight pine flavor.

Feel: thick and creamy, but it needs some more carbonation to qualify as an APA. Currently drinks more soft, like a dubbel or something.

Overall: a solidly flavorful beer which doesn't really rate as an APA, but is a nice beer nonetheless.

Pours a hazy amber/copper colour. Smells like cereal grains, sweet malts, clean, and earthy hops. Tastes of lightly toasted malts, slightly sweet, heavier body, with an earthy-hop finish.

L: red copper color , hazy , gives of a to fingertip high top of head, good lacings on the glass

S: Citrusfruits like grapefruits and oranges ,pine and floral hops

T&F: Much as the aroma, citrus fruits and pine, very fuity first taste, creamy body . Aftertaste goes over to hop and spicy bitterness, very long finishing, but is to bitter for my taste, The balance could be better.

O : A decent beer , but nothing more than that, not my type of beerstyle. But all in all is drinkable.I don,t think i going to buy this beer again. But also is great to see that it comes more new beers from Italy , and not the typical industrial lagers from there that i tasted before

Birra Del Borgo "ReAle"
33 cl, brown glass bottle best by 6/2017

An interesting beer, and unless I'm mistaken, the first beer from Birra Del Borgo back in 1995.

The brewery labels it as an IPA, but I see it as more of an E.S.B. with Pacific Northwest hops in the aroma, but with English hops still being utilized for bitterness and flavor.

It's amber in color at about 14 SRM; medium in body with a creamy, moderate carbonation level (just like an English bitter); and somewhere median in bitterness at about 40 IBUs.

The aroma is American, but not boldly so. It displays pine and citrus, but it's also floral and a bit earthy. Distinctly caramelish malt backs it, and I'm pretty sure that the fruitiness is coming from an English yeast strain as well.

As is almost always the case, the flavor follows suit, but here the English character overwhelms the American. It's caramelish, nutty, toasty, biscuity, and earthy/leafy before the citrus and pine cut through.

So, regardless of what you want to call it stylistically, it's a decent, well-made beer that's got an interesting bent to it. Unfortunately it's fairly expensive in the states, whereas in Italy it can be had for about 2€.

Poured from a funky bottle into a pint glass at Ciao Bella in Houston. One and done. Good times with the AON folks.
