Notes: Named after a local mountain bike trail, this India Pale Ale has a large malt character and a huge hop profile. We Dry hop this beer with Simcoe and Amarillo hops to give it that great floral aroma and citrus finish. If you like India Pale Ale you’ll find this one Just Outstanding.

Pours a hazy amber/gold with a small white head.

Aroma is probably the strong suit. Nice sweet tropical/citrus nose with nice, balanced hoppy floral notes throughout.

This stuff is fresh and very balanced. Nice caramel malt combined with a very citrusy hop charge (grapefruit and orange mostly) and a subtle but lasting hop bite.

Full mouthfeel with solid effervescence. Pleasant feeling left behind with each sip.

Goes down smooth and easy, and works as a great session IPA. Check it out.

Surprisingly pulpy orange appearance; very nearly opaque. Modest head production and retention.

Hops are quite restrained on the nose, but there's no hint of staleness. Slightly tropical, slightly citric, and a bit of both pale and caramel malt. This beer is hiding its goodness from my nose!

Plenty of flavor on the palate, though. Initial notes of grapefruit and pine, but a big juicy wave of melon and mango quickly follows. There is indeed a good deal of malt balance, as well: slightly grainy caramel, brown sugar, and sweet pale malt.

Easy drinking and smooth. Lively with little sting.

A beer like this would be hard pressed to live up to its name, but it's still very tasty.

This is an exemplary ale. I only have one of these left from my second six-pack this month, and I think I'm going to have to pick it up again if it's still on shelves locally.

L: Poured hard into a goblet, it produces ample bone-white head, which settles into a film of snowy billows with thick sheets of lacing to match. A faintly hazy and somewhat viscous honey-colored body reveals several fine streams of tiny bubbles throughout.

S: Fruity and enticing. Pine jumps out, as does lemon rind, followed by orange juice, and a hint of passion and piña, then mango takes over for a good second, coming finally into an an herbal finish with muddled mint and pine over yeasty pizza dough.

T: Would be incredible, except the hop profile leans too far on the herbal side for my taste. Drowns out all the lovely fruity character. I taste mostly grapefruit pith, passion fruit, mango, and pine. A touch of malty sweetness balances it out.

F: Very nice. Truly medium bodied. Plenty of smooth texture, but light enough to crush.

O: Just outstanding: not mind-blowing, but a head and shoulders above the median. A-

Thanks again to drink1121 for the chance to try this one.

A nice full-on head out of the bottle with a deep coppery amber body beneath. A good amount of nice even lacing. Aromas suggest less of an over-the-top west coast IPA in more traditional craft, though infused with its fair share of big hops. Floral sugary hops are predominant in aroma, with a mild resinous background and faint hint of nuttiness.

Malty and caramelly in taste up front, but not in the way some older IPAs become. Just some substantial bottom end to support the big hops that build throughout. Brightening hoppy pine and grapefruit are really taken over by a pine resin bite that resounds of pinecone and sap. Fresh citrus keeps it lively as the overall flavor transitions at the finish from a growing nuttiness in the malt to a dry hanging thick bitterness. Have to say that the nutty quality mid sip really sets this one out from many of its CA brethren, giving it more earthy depth and hint at its english roots.

Feel is medium with a slight slickness in the middle with a clingy finish. Carbonation is full but not obtrusive.

Overall, a very nice IPA by style. Drinks well. Carbonation is a little filling, but the overall drinkability is very nice. Would be a staple go-to IPA if I had it locally, especially because it presents more flavors than many IPAs I usually love, adding to the overall palette without sacrificing the hop intensity.

"peach" definitely describes the color of the liquid, and an almost 'peach' head with mounds of 'white' defining the almost lumpy landscape sitting on top. awesome sight when poured with lots of mix and beautiful swirling. looks beautiful but lacks some carbonation.
orange-y, tangerine-y, orange-rind aromas....
grapefruit and orange on the palate, and grapefruit rind. lots of bitter-y zest. very nice, easy to drink. not something I can drink several in succession of due to personal preferences, but I DID separate it from the Pliny with a DOWNTOWN BROWN from North Coast . . . . so, yeah, I can drink a few of these. very good brew, indeed!

Bottle Poured to mug.

App- Cloudy carbonated orange/copper color. Single finger tan head that lingered for quite a bit. Great lacing when I took a sip. Best I've seen in a bit.

Smell- Great smell with a big fresh hop tinge. Citrus, floral on the nose. Smelled very fresh like it had been just bottled and delivered.

Taste- On first sip it's super smooth. Leaves a faint floral touch on the tongue.

Mouth- Silky, smooth, rich, lush. Its very drinkable and not overly overpowering as some IPA's can be. It was a medium body and full. Very well done.

Drink- I think I found my new favorite IPA.

Poured this from a bomber that was bottled a little over a week ago. Appearance is a cloudy orange/goldish color. Smells of fresh citrus fruit. Hints of orange, pine, and pineapple. This smells like it's gonna be a sweet IPA....Taste: Not really as sweet as it smells, but very delicious. Very crisp and refreshing with bitter hops at the end. I taste a strong amount of grapefruit in this one. The drinkability is very easy with this wonderful IPA. If I could find this here in the central valley, I would drink it on the regular.

APPEARANCE: Somewhere between straw and orange, with a slight haze. The head is stack white foam and froth standing about two and a half fingers above the surface in a tulip glass. The lacing doesn’t cover a huge percentage of the glass, but it organizes itself into big, pillowy tufts that mark the rim of each previous sip.

SMELL: A nice blend of orange peel, floral notes, and grapefruit. The intensity of the aroma fades with the head, but fortunately a nice cap remains to keep it rolling.

TASTE: This is way more malty than I expected from the nose and from the aroma. Wow. Pretty heavy stuff. That said, there is more than enough hop flavor in here to pull through the malt. A lot of that orange peel comes through, but it’s now joined by a little more grapefruit, a lot more malt, and a noticeable minty flavor.

MOUTHFEEL: One of the bigger bodied IPAs I’ve had from that big malt base. However, it is not overly sweet and a pleasant hop bitterness (especially on the end of the sip) helps balance this beer out and at least leaves the perception of dryness. The carbonation is strong, which also helps quite a bit.

OVERALL: This is not what I expected at all. Again, much bigger malt, some unique flavor with the big mint pop in there, but overall pretty decent. I do not think this beer is past its prime (it was given to me less than a week ago from a friend in San Diego), but the lack of a date code doesn’t allow me to know for sure, which is frustrating.
