Can poured into a Kern River Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer that hangs around and leaves plenty of thick lacing.

S: Fruity side comes out first, tropical, stone fruit, hint of melon, followed by pine, citrus, a little bready malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Resinous pine, earthy herbal notes, citrus, lemon, grapefruit, and orange, lots of underlying fruity notes, passion fruit, peach, apricot, a hint of melon, bready malt,

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Maybe comes up just of being "outstanding", but still a very tasty IPA.

Pours a amber with a nice thick off white head. The nose on this is pretty unspectacular. Getting some very faint pine and light malts. Taste of pine gum, a little grass and malt also citrus pith. A bit of a unpleasant off taste with this one, maybe just my can but I'm getting a lot of tannins. Medium body and a dry finish.

12oz can served in a tulip. Don't see a date. Bought it in Oxnard and brought it home.

Pours hazy with a medium head and lots of fine carbonation. Smell is malty and biscuity, tropical and juicy, lots of floral. Smells really nice.

Taste is a little lighter on the apparent sweetness (which is fine), a little lighter on the fruitiness (which is a little disappointing), but strong on the citrus rind and pine bitter (which is nice).

Mouthfeel is fairly thick. Overall, nice.

I've only had a few beers from them and wasn't really impressed until this one. This was delicious! Pack a little more taste for a single IPA. Glad I grabbed a couple of sixers. Will revisit any chance I get.

Serving type: 12 oz can STRAIGHT TO THE DOME BRUH (Just kidding, though I didn't have a glass handy since it's a BBQ.)

Look (from the last time I had it a while ago): was a semi-clear straw yellow to extremely light amber with a tiny amount of turbidity. Smell is of intense citrus, intermingled with pine, grapefruit, with a slight earthy hop presence. Some sweetness, almost honey like, is present. Smells great. Taste reflects the smell beautifully. Initial citrus and pine hoppiness leads into more citrus rind bitterness that finishes with a lingering bitterness. Malt sweetness intermingles throughout making the hops not overbearing and giving this beer some depth. Feel is fluffy, carbonation is on point, coats the tongue for a few seconds. Overall, this is a really refreshing West coast IPA. True to the style yet not boring. Glad there's 6 pack cans of these now because this stuff is Just Outstanding!

Clear orange-gold pour with a foamy two-finger white head. Big citrusy aroma. Very bitter taste with lots of bright citrus flavors upfront. A nice juicy orange flavor stands out along with grapefruit, mango and pine. Can also taste some biscuit in the finish.

L: Light amber, copper. A finger of head with plenty of sticky lacing.

S: Mostly pine. Some citrus. Grapefruit.

T: A piney, grapefruit citrus ipa. Quite bitter. Not much balance.

F: Medium body, moderate carbonation. A little sticky.

O: I enjoyed this quite a bit. It's a hop bomb with not a who;e lot of balance which was fine by me.

Cloudy orange brew with a white head that leaves a bit of lacing. The smell is very bitter with some sweetness and fruit behind. The taste is slightly sweet with a little fruit and a ton of bitterness. Pretty solid beer.

Bottle Date: presumably within the past couple months
Palate Contaminants: a pork chop

Appearance is a pleasant translucent medium amber with a fine foam head.

The smell is not strong at all. I definitely get malty sweetness, along with some candied citrus. It's good, but it doesn't have enough power for me to hear all the instruments.

Unfortunately, the taste isn't anything special. It's by no means bad, but it's a goose in a world of peacocks. There's hardly any sweetness, but it's also not particularly bitter. The main character is earthiness, mostly mossy, I'd say.

Feel is moderate weighted with fine carbonation. The aftertaste has more bitter character. Well-crafted, but missing the gustatory part isn't there for me.

Copper and filtered, with lots of small and large rising bubbles. Topped with 4 fingers of foamy beige, beautiful head.

Peaches and apricots and fresh churned butter. Floral piney notes, so fresh its like you're 'just out standing' in the Redwoods.

Amazing. Its very bitter with a fair amount of malt backbone to it. Dry white grapefruit, peaches, and pine.

Medium, resinous body, medium carbonation.

Got at Rincon Taprooms in Santa Rosa 2 days ago, drank in Redding Sept 18th, 2016. Really good IPA. Balanced, smooth, delicious and fresh.

22 ounce bottle poured into a tulip

A: Pours dark amber orange with a bright white fluffy head, good amount of carbonation and lacing, good amount of lacing.

A: Big piney, fresh crushed pine needle aroma, citrus rind, nice balance of malts, smells very good.

T: Fresh crushed pine needle, grapefruit rind, hit of bitterness in the middle, finish is semi-dry with more hop notes lingering in the aftertaste. Good balance of malts on the backend, very nice.

M: Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation and a semi-dry finish.

O: I've had this a few times before and I don't remember it being this good, really enjoyed this one.

Pours out a amber and copper color. Solid 1/2" white head. Aroma was dry hopped to the gills, seemed to have a bit of the usual suspects for elite level ipa beers, plenty of amarillo and other citrus and tropical fruit imparting hops.

Taste is great, very dry light malt bill here that has enough for some color but not so much it becomes a sticky malty beer. The ibus are soft, not gratingly bitter. Keeps up the tropical and citrus fruit notes. Seemed like this was the precursor to the Citra dipa, because this seems to have citra on it too, just with a lighter malt body and abv.

Bomber format is the only real drawback here, although its not excessively expensive per oz even then.

Pours a golden yellow with medium carbonation. Hops dominate the smell, with hints of citrus rounding out the aroma. Taste is surprisingly mild compared to the smell, full of hops and fruit, but the bitter bite is much more mellow and very pleasing. Downplayed malts bring a slight bready sweetness to the aftertaste that balances out the hops. Overall a very tasty IPA that is quite good and very refreshing on a hot summers day.

Poured 22oz bottle into snifter. Very clear apple juice color with a soft white 2 finger head. Leaves a ring and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is both sweet from the malts and tropical from the hops. Amarillo was a good choice and a favorite of mine. A bit of grapefruit zest for some bite on the flavor with sweet notes of caramel malts. Tropical flavors of passion fruit and guava add depth to the taste. Both refreshing and dry with a clean and medium feel. Very tasty IPA.

Pours gorgeous. Hazy amber, very nice head.

Smells of strong Amarillo. Every beer I've had from Kern has had a perfect hop profile and this is no exception.

Tastes reall good, if a bit top heavy and unbalanced. Amarillo dominates throughout.

Just like the label says. I get a little toasted sesame flavor which I love behind the piney and citrus notes. Solid, well rounded IPA. Love me some Kern! Cheers!

22oz bottle poured into a tulip

Tropical and citrus hop aromas with an emphasis on orange and grapefruit. Taste follows the aroma with a blast of juicy citrus hops and notes of mango and papaya. Underlying faint toasted malt, more juicy hops on the finish. A classic west coast IPA that is super drinkable

Great creme color with a 2 finger head and tremendous aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits, but not overwhelming. Taste is citrusy with a brilliant hoppy bitter taste. Perfectly balanced, this is one I always look for.

Beautiful orange color with a bout a finger and a half of fizzy head and tremendous lacing. Aromas of gala apples, pineapple and stonefruits. Taste is very citrusy, with grapefruit, pineapple and an amazing hop bitterness. Malt and Hop balance well in this one. Great Beer !!!!

22 oz bottle poured into pint glass.

Appearance: pours pale gold with a thin white head.

Smell: tons of tropical fruit - papaya, mango - along with some grapefruit. No real malt presence. Hop intensity rivals many DIPAs.

Taste: similar to the smell but toned down a notch. Some more pine comes through here along with the tropical/citrus hop presence. Just a touch of biscuity malt flavor. No alcohol heat. Moderate battering hops on the finish.

Mouthfeel: body is medium to light. Healthy carbonation. Quite smooth and refreshing.

Overall: top-notch IPA in the aroma department. Flavor wise not quite at the level of the best examples of the style but still a very good offering overall.

L: Pours clear dark amber under a thin white foam cap that quickly reduces to a thick film.
S: Resiny, citrusy aromas with some fruit and light malt.
T: Attacks the palate with a burst of malt that dissolves into citrus rinds, resin and melon. In the aftertaste fruit, malt and citrus rind linger for several minutes.
F: Medium to medium full body and medium carbonation.
O: Big but refreshing and very easy to drink.

Pours cloudy orange color with a creamy 1 finger light tan head that faded about average time and left very good foamy lacing coating the sides and rings as it went down.

Smells of tropical and citrus fruit like orange, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, tangerine and all things citrus hops, followed by piney hops, caramel, biscuit, light spices like pepper and coriander and apple skin or white grape. The malt is there, but weak, and the hops basically dominate and make it unbalanced but it smells really damn good and fruity so I can overlook the lack of balance. Classic West Coast IPA nose.

Tastes like the nose with tropical and citrus up front which includes orange, pineapple, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, passion fruit, citrus hops, some tea leaf. piney hops, caramel, biscuit, honey, light spices like pepper and coriander, cracker, lightly toasted grains, green apple, white grape juice and a slightly chalky yeast note at the end. The flavor is much more balanced with enough of the malt backbone to stabilize this brew and keep the bitterness in check. It's really fresh tasting and well hopped.

Mouthfeel is thin and bordering on watery, yet sort of slick as it slides down very easy with mild carbonation, a medium body and a slightly bitter finish that's on the dry side. The spices add to the brew and the malt comes through enough to linger after the hops basically dazzle the tastebuds, all the while hiding the ABV perfectly.

This was extremely easy to drink and as the name states outstanding. I will have to order more of this from San Diego and ship it to NY, it was very damn tasty.

Smell: Dank! Tropical and Piney.
Taste: More piney than tropical.
Feel: Slightly under carbonate and very little bitterness bite at the end. Very smooth.
Overall: Perfect example of west coast IPA.

Appearance - The bear is a copper color with a bubbly white head.

Smell - The nose lightly grassy with citrus notes in the background.

Taste - The initial taste centers on peppery grass notes with citrus and dry bready notes toward the back. The profile is light and refreshing, making thus an easy drinker. The taste comes to a close with a resiny finish.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is fairly low, allowing the resin to linger.

Overall - This is a nice light refreshing IPA.
