All around one of the best DIPA's I've had the honor of putting in my mouff...

A)Peachy gold, with a nice head, good lacing, and retention like a mofo...

S) Citric fruit, sweet almost candy-like malt, and an all-around balance that surpasses the bitter in-your-face hop bomb DIPA's on the market right now.

T- Crisp, fruity, sweet, and hoppy. Wow, there is a lot going on, but it is not overwelming whatsoever. Hides the alcohol very well, and doesn't sacrifice any body!

M- Exceptional balance, and a clean lasting finish. Lemme stress clean...clean...Mr. Clean...

O- Very good DIPA. Can't put my finger on a single thing I'd change on it :D.

Cheers, Kern!

Poured into a shaker pint. Pours a hazy orange almost hay color. Very nice sticky white head with tons of lacing.

Aroma is so hoppy citrus. Not the most aromatic I've had but very nice. Slight sweet aroma.

Taste is amazing. One of the best I've had and the best I've had is heady topper. Smooth dry and slightly sweet in the finish but with a super nice hop taste that is citrucy and a bit piny. I'm gunna need to find more of this before I can't any more.

Mouthfeel is nice and dry with a slight maltyness. Has that distinct hoppy beer mouthfeel that I love.

Another great IPA from Kern River. Still need to try Citra but Just Outstanding is good. Get it and try it. You won't be disappointed.

A: A little cloudy with a off-white colored head; clears up after a few minutes though.

S: Orange and tropical citrus are evident up front. Nothing other than that comes to fruition after that. Robust and slightly complex are the best descriptives for this brew.

T: The hop characteristics (orange and grapefruit flavors), not necessarily the bitterness, hit the palate first. The tail of the beer has a strong grainy quality that balances all the hop flavors that are abundant in this beer.

M: Medium body with a slight dry finish.

O: A very good DIPA. I'm a big fan of PtE and Alpine IPA's, and I truly feel this can compete on the same level. A must try! Cheers!

A: pours a clear golden-yellow with a finger of white head that fades into a frothy ring with a little lacing.

S: loads of citrus here. Oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit dominate with notes of pineapple. There is some honey sweetness toward the end.

T: grapefruit and orange dominate the flavor with earthy pine flavors. Lightly bitter with just a hint of alcohol presence. Delicious.

M: medium body and carbonation, this beer is nicely carbonated and avoids being too sticky or watery.

O: a great DIPA overall. Delicious and aromatic. Fantastic.

22oz bottle poured into a tasting glass. It poured a bright orange/amber color with a thin, bubbly white head scattered across the to of the beer. Great color to it.

The aroma is extremely juicy and hoppy with lots of orange, peach and pineapple jumping out at me. It reminds me a lot of the Hawaiian punch fruit drink. Really loved the aroma, the tropical fruit flavors in it were fantastic.

The taste is also very juicy with more of the pineapple, peach and mango flavors throughout. I got a little more of a bitter citrus rind flavor coming out in the finish. It has a nice balance between the sweeter, tropical fruit, juicy flavors and the bitter, citrus rind flavors. Again, I'm loving the tropical, fruit punch flavors in it.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being moderate. Overall I thought it was a great beer and definitely right up there with my favorites of the style. I loved the fruit punch, tropical hoppiness to it and the citrus rind bitterness really balanced it out and gave it a very smooth and easy drinking quality. Awesome beer overall.

Pours a bright orange with a small amount of head. Slightly cloudy apperance, minimal lacing left behind. The nose is chock full of hoppy goodess in the form of grapefruit, pine, citrus, and a dash of earthiness. The taste includes some honey and sweet malts to pair with the assertive hop profile that features citrus, pine, and resin. The taste becomes very bitter as it finishes. The body is somewhat big with medium carbonation. Overall, a very tasty DIPA, a little heavy for my liking but still very good.

Deep apricot colored pour with a creamy finger of khaki head, lacing on the spotty side.

Aroma is piney and malty in the same note, not much in the way of tropical fruit, touch of alcohol detectable.

Taste is an improvement over the aroma, the formidable malt bill is met by mass quantities of Simcoe hops that even things out and leave a pleasant bitterness on the back end. Flavors of dank pine with some mild orange rind mixing in as it warms up.

Mouthfeel is on the hearty side of medium, definitely a sipper, well carbonated.

Enjoying this bottle on the first day of Spring seems appropriate given the frigid temperatures. I've enjoyed all the Kern offerings so far,Winter Ale being on that list. These bottles are not easy to get a hold of, but if you get the chance to grab one you should do so. Thanks Paul!

Bottle consumed at the brewpub because they didn't have anymore on draft.

A: The pour is a nice golden amber color with a rather large, fluffy whot head. Lots of sticky lacing to go with it.

S: Intense nose of pine, grapefruit, tangerine, and orange peels. Almost no malt character to it at all. There is a nice floral quality to it as well. Perhaps even a bit of perfume.

T: The bitterness almost dominates the flavor. There is a nice grapefruit flavor to it and plenty of pine, too. A decent enough citrus character and a light floral note.

M: Medium in body with a medium to high carbonation and a lingering bitterness.

O: This was slightly disappointing. It was certainly good, but it didn't blow me away.
