341ml bottle, many thanks to Sam and Katie for schlepping this back from the 'Peg for me!

This beer pours a clear, rather pale golden straw colour, with two skinny fingers of weakly foamy, and mostly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves a bit of random splotchy lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of biscuity, doughy pale malt - like rising bread, really - sharp drupe fruit notes, and leafy, earthy, and somewhat grassy hops. The taste is more of the same - gritty, grainy, and doughy pale malt, black pepper dust, a touch of tart lemon and fleshy apple fruitiness, some hard water flinty notes, and more sassy grassy, leafy hops.

The carbonation is fairly agreeable, in its plain, yet kind of edgy frothiness, the body medium-light in weight, and generally smooth, in a grainy, and otherwise unencumbered sort of way. It finishes quite dry, the biscuity malt and grassy, hay-like hops colluding as such.

A pretty stellar rendition of the style, what with all the biscuity graininess and agreeable noble hops abounding. Anytime an organization as big as this (gay pride) gets a non-BMC sponsor, is a win for everyone involved, especially when they get such an awesome replacement for what I'm sure the majority is expecting - i.e. actual flavour, flava, flavaaaa!

A new recipe for 2012, as apparently the Pride committee wanted the beer without a fruit addition and even lighter (is that possible?) than last year's.

Pours straw yellow with a white head that leaves light lacing and drops slowly than a macro, but faster than I would prefer. Light fruity notes on the nose of pears and apples. Hint of graininess, the munich malt is definitely in there. This is a light malt-driven style and it matches well to style. No odd flaws and flavours like in last year's beer (due to the raspberry juice addition), just not a beer that knocks my socks off. A crisp, easy drinking beer that disappears down the gullet quickly, which is what they were after. I just prefer more assertive beers...
